  1. Hi there, My mobo came with the Xpress Recovery 2 (gigabyte) and it states that it requires some unallocated space in order to do the backup. But it seems that my problem is that the unallocated space it's not at the end of the HDD, but between C drive and D drive. Can I move it somehow at the back of the HDD?
  2. Ye, missed the decimetre there
  3. Metric all the way. The hole globe uses it, it's international, just like the ICAO standards. I don't know why the 3 countries in the world won't follow it. Metric system is logical, As people said, 1000 miligrams = 100 centigrams = 10 decigram = 1 gram = 0,1 decagram = 0,01 hectogram = 0,001 kilogram, (we were doing these lists in first grade). Same for lenghts, 100 milimeters = 10 centimeters = 1 meters = 0,1 decameter = 0,01 hectometer = 0,001 kilometer What's logical in 1 feet = 12 inch = whatever else it's in imperial, following a full list like the one above starting from the smalest (inch?) to longest (mile). And how long is a feet? is it a child feet? adult feet? female, male? It's debatable. Degrees have already been explained, reffering to 0c as freezing and 100c as boiling, again logical numbers. It's also very compatible with the kelvin measurment, which measures the absolute zero at 0, being shifted compared with celcius with 273 units. (So there you go, you have 2 measurment units)
  4. If you do not use AHCI and you have a HDD connected through SATA cable, then the HDD performance will be just PATA performance? 133mb/s is it?
  5. Yea, please move the topic there. And no, 20500 I get on my new rig (8600 GTS), on my old one I only get 1500. But I am saying that those laptops are getting 21000+.
  6. I got my P35-DS3R Gigabyte for 150$ CAD 1 1/2 months ago
  7. Hey, hopefully I am writing in the correct section. Regarding rig performance, for, obsiosly, games, I just ran my 3dMark03 just to compare my new rig with the 5 year old. I got 20580 on basic settings. Now, if I go to here I can see tha even notebook's get higher score with the 7950 GTS and 7800 GTX+ in SLI. Just wondering if this is normal for my E6750 2.66 1333 FSB 2GB 800MHZ 4-4-4-12 Corsair XFX 8600 GTS Extreme (it's rated at 720 mhz on the box) In case it matters 500HD Seagate 7.2k Gigabyte P35 DS3R. Please note that all this comes with the standard setup, in windows and BIOS. No idea how can I check my GPU mhz if it really is 720mhz, and I am almost sure that the standard bios setup runs my RAM at latency of around 5-5-5-18, and not even sure if I have my CPU set to 1333 FSB. Well the test also does not recognize my CPU, it puts it as unknown but does get it at 2667 MHZ
  8. Faulty motherboard. Everything was such ironic tho. I wanted to go with my power supply to exchange, but my motherboard onboard ethernet broke, so now I had to return motherboard too. There they told me that they can only change the motherboard since the power supply only had 30 day warranty with the retailer, and I had to contact the manufacturer. Yet, when I installed the new motherboard, with the same power supply finally the nightmare is gone and the computer shuts off and power down properly. So, the 30$ 500W power supply was not at fault, but the motherboard. Now I just hope the new motherboard and all other components will be as reliable as my other 5 1/2 year old computer where nothing ever faild, even when some capacitors from the mobo and PSU blew because the PSU fan broke. Another chapter ends with a happy ending. And of course thank you everybody who took the time to read the thread and post the suggestions.
  9. Indeed, so unless there is any other idea all I can see I can do is to try somehow another PSU. If it's still the same, then what? motherboard?
  10. Well I'm pretty much cluless then what else I can do. I have send a message, maybe I can somehow try a new PSU. I don't know, but I had this problem since day 1, so I belive it has to be something hardware related.
  11. "Computer won't power off when I shut XP down. The most common reason for this problem is that ACPI (the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) isn't enabled. To enable it: Click Start | Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance. Click the Power Options tab. Select APM - Enable Advanced Power Management Support. Click OK." I don't have any APM in the Power Options
  12. about 8-12 hours. When I'm home it almost allways stay on, listening music. When i'm leaving and have nothing to download, then I ususaly shut it down. I also shut it down when I go to sleep, since it's quite noisy. Quite some time I go to sleep with computer on while playing music, and I set it up for auto shutdown in about 1-2 hours. By that time I'm ususaly asleep so I prefer the computer to shut itself down by itself. Well I guess I can't do that with the new one tho unfortuantely.
  13. I got myself a 8600 GTS Extreme 720 core clock for under 200$. To be honest I can;t find anything else compared price/performance, and it is DX10 compatible as well.
  14. Ok, I did an update to BIOS, even tho before the update on the POST screen it detected it as being E6750 @ 2.66. Anyway, any reason why would the temperature now be kept at around 37c when with my E6600 was about 33c? Also on this CPU the CPU fan starts spinning immidiatly after turning it on, on the E6600 it was taking about 5 minutes until it was starting to spin. Is it because this one runs at higher frequency and also has 1333FSB instead of 1066? Both had stock coolers.
  15. I have updated my bios, I have now F4 Windows has the latest updates. No excalmation marks in windows under hardware manager I can only have temperature from CPU and it's below 40c so its the system at 44c. But even after I start it after 8 hours it's the same problems. I don't know if I have a onboard video, nor I think I do. I have a nMediaPC: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...NMedia%20System, brand new with the system. Also after now I have changed my CPU, E6750, I updated the BIOS to F4 and loaded default I tested it by going again to Q-Flash and F10 to shut down. As usual it started back on by itself in about 2 seconds (so it shut down completely but started again) Edit: Do you think it can have anything to do with the front pannel connectors? Such as power switch, reset switch, by not setting them correctly on the correct possitive and negative? All my case wires have their colors for each function + a white whire for each, which I guessed it's the negative so I connected with the white wire on the negative pin. This is correct?
  16. Hi, I just returned my E6600 1066FSB and got E6750 1333FSB, but on my mobo Gigabyte P35 DS3R website it says that for E6750 support you need BIOS F4, but I only have F3. The requirement for E6600 was only F3 as well. Before I open my packaged E6750 please tell me that once I install my new E6750 I can go into BIOS and use Q-Flash to update it.
  17. *kidnaps puntoMX* No no, if you don't buy it, then i'l buy it It's an excelent machine for the price mate, go for it.
  18. I have installed the chipsets from gigabyte website over the chipset that came with the mobo CD, no difference. What exactly can I do with the tree under computers at ACPI multiprocessor PC? And there is no other troubleshot for this ACPI? some sort of manual configuration? If the computer is turned off (power off) it starts again. if it's turned off (but power still on) it does nothing. Keeping pressing the reset tho I remember it booted again.
  19. Hi, I don't have a Wake on LAN in BIOS. Also I don't have any autostart or resume modes. Actualy all I have in BIOS is ACPI Suspend type which I can choose between S3(STR) and S1(POS), I tried both, no difference. USB device wake-up, which I dissembled, PME Event Wake up which I dissembled Power on by Ring which I dissembled Resume by alarm which I dissembled HPET support which is dissembled Power on by mouse/keyboard which is dissembled. In windows under Computer tree, only thing there is ACPI Multiprocessor PC.
  20. With an E6750 can I still use my 800mhz Corsair RAM? Right now I have the E6600 but I want to go back and return it and buy myself the E6750 for the 1333FSB it has. It will still give me a performance boost with the E6750 instead of E6600 and the same Corsair 800mhz RAM correct?
  21. That's not quite true. The difference between 80GB (gigabyte) and 74GiB (gigibyte) is nothing. They're the exact same amount of space. The difference comes from the fact that manufacturers use the term GB to represent 1,000,000,000 bytes, while computers read 1GB as 1,073,741,824 bytes. The 82MB in this case are reserved for NTFS information. It's perfectly normal for this space to be used. Yes, that's exactely what I wanted to know, just wanted to double check that this is normal. Thanks a lot everybody
  22. But changing the power supply will fix it? Or this has something to do with the mobo? Why is it automaticaly start up after you close it with hibernation, or F10 in bios
