  1. Ok, thank you all for your reply. I guess I will just keep it on ATA. I mean the laptop is just for school, and maybe some 2000's/dos games. With a 4500HD, 1GB ram and Celeron 900M I don't think I would've seen any performance difference, and I'm fine if I only get half the write speed when copying files. Guess there's always the option to get Win 7 32bit
  2. oh I see, I thought ACHI is AHCI tho? I really don't remember having to search for specific SATA drives when I did my desktop. Just whatever generic SATA there was? Not to mention since my desktop was built part by part.
  3. I got my Vostro 1014, but when I try to install Win XP I get 0x0000007B BSOD (after setup finishes loading all the files, and says setup is starting windows). Specs: Celeron 900m HD4500 1Gb I tried my the XP CD on my desktops (I have 2) and it works fine. I tried the XP CD on another laptop (acer), and that too gives the same BSOD "STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) Specs: AMD P340 ATI 4250 4Gb The errors are indentical on both laptops. Why? And why is the CD working fine on my desktops? Quick update: I managed to get it not give me BSOD anymore once I switched the HDD from AHCI to ATA. BUT My Win XP CD is modified with vlite to contain the SATA drives. My desktop is set to AHCI and it works. Why not on my laptop? When I said my desktop is set to AHCI that also means it was set to AHCI during the XP boot and instalation (since AFAIK if you install XP on ATA, then it will continue using ATA even if you switch it to AHCI in BIOS unless you re-install windows).
  4. Hi, I have downloaded the program and followed the instruction. However, after first restart after I set-up the rule, explorer crashed, and nothing appeared in the c:/temp folder. When I went to check the rule, the rule was gone. Now, every time I create explorer.exe, and finish editing the rule, when I press apply in process dumper, my hole computer will hang. I can't be sure if the very first time actually worked, or I forgot to press apply after creating the rule. Hi, if I could have a set to setp how to put adplus in the run registry would be awesome. Thank you To do that you need to boot into safe mode with command prompt which will give you a terminal window without loading explorer. From that terminal window you can launch regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and add the entry there. To make it go after Default and before everything else you need to put a number "0" as the first character in the name of the key (it will say "0adplus"). If your windows is unbootable or won't even get to a terminal window, you can try with a Linux LiveCD(USB) and use a tool (can't remember it's name ATM) to modify the windows registry. Or a Windows LiveCD if you got the licence to use WinPE stuff. When trying to boot in safe mode with command prompt I remember receiving an error. I think something about cd-key, but my win xp copy does not have a CD-key, and none is required during instalation.
  5. Hi, if I could have a set to setp how to put adplus in the run registry would be awesome. Thank you
  6. Oh I see... Well, that might be a bit difficult, as the explorer only crashes on bootup. It's either then or not at all during the entire session. I believe I could quickly run a .bat before the programs are starting up once windows booted? Usually the explorer crashes when almost all my programs finished booting. I do not know how to create a .bat tho, so any help would be highly appriciated. Thank you
  7. I did it after my explorer said it has to be terminated, etc, can't remember the message. This was the Event Viewer: Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x6356cd8f. I had another crash this morning: Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x6356cd75. The command I used for the adplus were: cscript adplus.vbs -crash -pn explorer.exe -quiet -o c:\adplus
  8. Hi, I have run the application dump, and here is what I got in the adplus. Crash_Mode__Date_06-29-2010__Time_13-12-2929.rar
  9. So yea, I was just browsing the forums, no games or anything were played since I booted, and all of the sudden my screens (got dual) went black and couldn't do anything else. If I remember correctly they (screens) did not went into safe mode. I restarted, and I think since from ever I installed Win XP 2 years ago I got a chkdisk starting at boot-up. It did found some errors at the 2 of 3 step. So now the question is, is it my OS? My GPU? My HDD? Could the HDD fail? Wasn't exactly sure where to put this thread either, if either here or under hardware.
  10. Well I disabled the CmdLineContextMenu Class which apparently is a DRM, and didn't had any explorer crashes. If I will still a crash, then I will do the dump report as well. Cheers
  11. Hello, randomly I am getting this error when I boot up. It seems to be 1 out of 3 or so. I went to Event Viewer and under application I have the following events since booting up: An error: Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.5512, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x6356cd8f. 12. Sorry for forgetting to give the following: 0X0000008E (0xC0000005, [...]) ati2dvag.dll How can I configure for a complete dump?
  13. This only happens when I have TF2 running and I want to start BF2. It does not always happen but most likely I will get this BSOD. Mini091509_02.rar
  14. Hi. I'm bumping this up because I ended un-checking ALL the components under Explorer in Autoruns, and I still got the Data Execution Prevention.
  15. Yep, just noticed what I un-checked was remembered. And well, my problem is that this DEP is quite randomly, so what I will do is just take my time. I will leave something un-checked until I will get it again, and then move to the next. It will take maybe up to a few weeks. I will just bump the thread then. Anyway, cheers for all the help you 2 provided! Much appriciated. Also if ShellExView can help into this somehow, let me know and how
  16. Ok will start do that. So disable 1 by 1 until I get the error then go for the next yes? Also if disabling with Autorun, how do I go so that at the next boot-up the options will be remembered. On save, it just saves it as a file
  17. Ok, hided those 2, clicked refresh, this is what I have. This is a few minutes after I got again the Data Execution Prevention very shortly after my PC booted up. 18. Ok, I have finally installed both Autoruns and ShellExView... But I am not sure what am I looking for.
  19. No, I dont get any error about Dr.Watson. I just get an error for windows explorer and windows encountered a problem and needs to close
  20. Greetings. I come back with another little problem. Not so often I get this Data Execution Prevention, caused by Explorer.exe. It always shows up after the computer finished booting up in windows, and I do something (Open Firefox, Explorer, etc). If it dosen't show up by then, the whole session it will not show up again. Once I press ok, the standard error that windows encountered a problem and need to close, shuts down explorer.exe (you lose the taskbar and all) for a few seconds then comes back up. Is there a way to run a diagnostic for it and figure out what's up with it? Thanks
  21. I don't have the yahoo toolbar, never used a toolbar. However I do have yahoo messanger. I will un-install that, and try again doing a search see if it clears it up. EDIT: Ok, I still get the error but now from what I notice is a bit later. My last error was when it searched in what it looked like a windows folder, one of those blue ones, $NtUninstaller$ something.
  22. I'm asking this because my aunt told me only since the recent format she had this problem. She used pinnacle before before, version 9 and this didn't happened. Another wired thing is, that she took a DVDR from another computer to check if it's the DVDR unit fault. It had the same problems with reset. Now when that DVDR got returned to the original computer, that computer too now keeps resting.
  23. Thanks for the diagnostic. So how exactly do you update the vobiw.SYS? The computer had Pinnacle 9, 10 and 12 installed on it. I un-installed 12 and 10 but the problem is still there, getting resets.
