  1. My memtest86 hangs at loading. I don't have a floppy to try the floppy version so I burned the .iso on a cd. However after restart, memtest86 starts with a "loading......." message in DOS at which point it just hangs at this message. The system looks frozen, pressing num lock or caps lock do not do anything, and by ejecting the disk again it makes no difference. It just sits at the "loading......." message. I have a P-35 DS3R Gigabyte mobo, E6750 CPU, 2GB Corsair Ram. Any ideas? I have went into BIOS and dissabled all USB too, but did not make any difference. (I have a PS2 keyboard) Thank you P.S. I have did a chkdsk as well and after /p function and finishes scanning it says the drive has 1 or more errors but it does not give any kind of details. What is the next step. The only other parameter in help was /r.
  2. Happy birthday d00d. Here is my present to you
  3. At home, no, cause im pretty much the only one who knows to use a computer. At work? Well, I don't have any computers at work. My office is in the skies.
  4. Hi. Here is the problem. All of the sudden, my keyboard faild. I can't use space anymore, shift, delete, \, when I press num-lock it puts a * instead, etc. I can still write the letters and use the F functions or numkeys. All this happened suddenly when I played Il2 sturmovik. Now i am using a different keyboard. And I tried the keyboard on another computer, and same problem. All I can think of is I spilled some juice on it by mistake (just a little), only on the keypad section, and that was 3-4 hours ago, so it's a bit wired to fail because of that. And it's not the section where the juice spilled, it's functions (shift, both of them, space, enter, etc as I said above). Any sugestions?
  5. Somehow I can't get that tool debbuger working. Couldn't find an actual link for a direct download from M$. Tho I did not really had time to troubleshoot since now i'm in a job employment frenzy
  6. So in this case you cannot digitaly complete it? (or to complete it without looking wired (such as those boxes))?
  7. Hello, I have an urgent need to complete a PDF file I have recived from a potential employer. Basicaly they have sent me a PDF file under the form of a questionare, with questions and spaces between them. How can I write my pharagraphs answers in those spaces? Only way I found was to go to Tools -> Advanced Commenting -> Text Box Tool. Only problem with that was even if I could change the background box from yellow to transparent, the box margins still show's. Basicaly it looks like this (see attachment) What is the correct procedure to complete such form? How can you get freedom in customise it as you wish? Thank you
  8. USB devices are my mouse MX518, printer HP1400, and joystick Thrustmaster 2.
  9. I am sorry, I forgot to mention I have Windows XP SP2, all updates done. I have upgraded the bios to last stable version. My mobo: GA-P35-DS3R (gigabyte). I only have 1 HDD so it's not RAID or SCSI. I use AHCP (I belive it's called, it's the SATA II) I will look into the blue screen link tomorrow when I will be having some free time, and I will try to update Daemon tools driver see if that does anything. I have the same Daemon Tool on my other computer, difference would be that it uses PATA HDD and AGP Videocard, and I never had this problem. But still, I started reciving this errors ever since that Daemon install failed.
  10. Hi, So I first got this when I installed daemon tools and the instalation has faild. It kept having problem, so I formated drive C: (I have C and D in 1 HDD). But even now after format I still recive this error on blue screen. Why would it still give me this error? since I format any errors I might'v got from a faulty daemon installer (which does inserts virtual drives) should no longer be there. And it seems it allways happen when I browse on firefox. They are random. It never happens when I play or it's idle in desktop. Any thoughts?
  11. Thanks for the replies. I have a Linksys WRT54GL and basicaly I have the stock firmware. I have seen the port forward tab, and I basicaly imputed all the ports that the game uses. But then again, there are only 10 slots. so you can have at most 10 port forwarding, so 10 applications IF each application only takes 1 slot. I know people were talking about that the linksys have another ?3rd party? firmware which is much more better And is it true that as long as there are no port forwarding, you are un-hackable? (or only hackable if the attacker uses a port which is forwarded for let's say, the purpose to host a game on that port) Thank you again
  12. Hi, well, I just got myself my first router, so I don't have to keep 1 computer open all the time for the other one to connect to internet. But now, it seems I cannot host games anymore such as Warcraft or Il2 Sturmovik. Basicaly the router has the internet IP, and then each computer has their LAN IP's (192.168.x.x), so I guess when somebody tries to connect to me, it dosen't know which computers hould be connected to. How exactely I can fix this. Well, not really fix it, since with this option, I supose that I am un-hackable correct? since anybody cannot reach my computers, since they will only get through up to the modem point. But I would like some sort of short modification to apply whenever I want to host games. Thanks
  13. E6750 @ 2.66mhz 8600 GTS 720 mhz factory cloacked. 3dMark: 6045 SM2.0: 2598 HDR/SM3.0: 2252 CPU: 2380 (with an average FPS of .75 and 1.25 during the tests lol)
  14. Ok my problem isn't with daemon anymore. The problem was with daemon that upon a faild install now the computer allways tries to set up a DVD called "Generic Stealth, etc". daemon now plays no part in this anymore. Everytime when windows starts the add/remove hardware wizards pops up and no matter what you do, when it will start looking for drivers it will give you the blue screen of death. Not only that, but today I just recived a random blue screen of death even by playing, which was saying something like "Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal". This can only get me thinking at this stealth drive which is being tried to install. What are my options now? I tried to uninstall the device, and it gets rid of it, but at the next boot, it will be there again. I found my error here, but as ususal, microsoft tells you something evident but it dosen't tell you any actions to fix it.
  15. Vancouver!!! Your flag says otherwise... That's cause I am from where my flag says I am
  16. As a general idea, is it allways recommended that when you uninstall to do it in safe mode? Or you should do it in normal mode and only if you have problems go to safe mode?
  17. Hi. I just installed Daemon tools and due to a problem with an older version where my kaspersky anti-virus detected some kind of infection, I guess it kinda screwed up my add hardware. Daemon is now functional but I have the following problem. Upon startup windows allways detects a CD drive and tries to update it. if you proceed with the update, no matter the options you will get a blue screen of death, saying something about dump memory, etc. I belive this is because it tries to install a hardware which it actualy does not exist. Also I have no yellow or red marks in the device manager, yet everytime I start windows I get the new hardware detection. How can I stop it being identified as new hardware, because obviosly I cannot just do the update and get rid of it since I get the blue screen. After the blue screen once back in windows you could see a virtual CD drive which I removed from computer management - disk management
  18. Yea but I knew that if the game is infected for example, it will only spread through drive D, keeping C safe. But if I think a little this might not be the case
  19. No, actualy it seems that on this computer I have a seperate account with my custom name. I mean when I go to computer management and users I can see the administrator, and this account. But yet, when I go to switch user, I cannot see the administrator account, only this one. Same for when I am in explorer and I click on My computer. Only documents I can see below the drives are "Shared Documents" and "x Documents" x - being this account. I created a new account on the other computer which acts like an administrator but still, I can see the administrator documents and in switch users. Any idea the discripancy?
  20. I just tried xpress recovery as I managed to re-set my unallocated space at the end. The program is conveniable, as you just insert the mobo disk, and just hit restore and all done. Problem? Well it dosen't compress anything. Basicaly it takes the exact same space (plus a bit more) to do the backup. So if you have a 20GB drive C, and 15GB is occupied, then if you want to backup your drive you must have at least 15-16gb of unallocated space. Over that? tough luck, you cant do anything unless you start deleting from drive C to bring it under the unallocated space. In my oppinion it's just a waste of space. Prooly i'l prefer to use my old 2003 norton ghost to do the image and save it on a DVD (or 2) Question: Do you usualy even need more than 15GB on drive C in total? I mean there you only install your operating system, utilities, drivers and thats about it right? Then on your drive D you install your games, save big projects such as movies, etc. Or am I missing something when I see people having their drive C of 100GB
  21. Nevermind, I made it in the end to just find out how crappy xpress recovery from gigabyte is. It dosen't archive, nothing, basicaly it requires the same ammount of space you have on drive C. So if you have a 15GB drive C space you might want to have at least 12-14GB of unallocated space, otherwise if you go above the unallocated space, no more backup for you. So basicaly you just have to waste the same ammount of space you have set for your drive C. Not really worth it imo, even tho I find it it's just conveniable to just insert the mobo disk and restore. I would still be curious tho about the additional questions I puted in my previous post. Thanks
  22. Hi On this computer somehow my administrator account has a custom name I chosed. Now I have formated my other computer but I did not saw any option to change the "administrator" name/account and it's plainly named "administrator" How exactly do you change your administrator account name to a custom one? So for example in your documents and settings, to apear your custom name and all users, instead of administrator and all users (I don't use a login screen, I dont have more than 1 account, i'm the only one using the computers)
  23. Hey, I just formated everything and created new partitions so I can make an unallocated partition to use the xpress recovery from my gigabyte mobo, and that requires some unallocated space at the end of the disk. Now, when I made my drive C, and D, and unpartitioned space at the end, installed windows, but now the unallocated space in my computer management - disk management it's just an extended partition of drive D, classified as free space. I don't have the black bar anymore. What did I do wrong now? Additional question: What is the difference by formating through the windows CD from MS-DOS (is it MS-DOS? or now it's PC-DOS?) or formating through the actual windows. And if you do through windows, what is the allocation unit size for? does DOS uses an allocation unit size but just uses a default variant, because there is no option, you just do "format d:" Also what does the extended partition and logical drive mean?
  24. Its the motherboard. My new computer wouldn't power off after shutdown and fans, LED were still keep turning. Changed my mobo and now it works fine
  25. 25 degrees, lots of sun and no cloud here in Vancouver
