I second that. 7zip sfx modules need to progress more for me to switch.

I have adminstudio too sitting on a cd . I don't use it though and like MaSaI Editor just fine.

I don't think 7zip likes msi files. I've tried before. Use the setup.exe and I bet it works. The switches will be slightly different.

Thanks for the info 1chaoticadult. I have a lot of options now. I mentioned this because its my favorite msi editor and free by the way (at least the editing part).

That may be true and I know it's what M$ and all of the installer companies tell you, but there are times when you simply cannot accomplish what you need to do without doing a direct edit. And to be honest, sometimes it's just a lot easier to do a down and dirty msi edit intead of generating a transform. Just keep and original of that msi for backup. I agree with you. I have had some msis i've dealt with in past which direct editing was the best option.

I personally don't like 7zip sfx files because of lack of customization options. I'm waiting on better sfx options. I use winrar sfx for now.

You need everything in the directory for perfectdisk. sfx all the files and get the sfx to launch setup.exe. You might not need instmsiw.exe though since windows installer comes with xp.

You probably need the other files with msi (it depends on the files, list them). All MSI files use msiexec. 7zip sfx - did you make a config.txt?

You can hide the gui in autoit.

@totoymola MaSai Editor could extra can extract files from MSIs as well.

If its a compiled exe just run it. Right click on script and use the compile script command. The reason for the comment about media codecs because its a msi file? Well in the past I've had problems with two msis installing right after each other.

Media Codecs setup might be the problem. Download sleep.exe from unattended.msfn.com and use it to put a pause between msi (windows installer).

You should try PerfectDisk 7 alot better than this oh nevermind. Anyway to answer your question, check for extra space and how you place your quotes. Also what other apps do you install right before or after this. It could be affecting it not installing.

@bucketbuster, prathapml I agree. RegShot is small and fast. It's my best friend when it comes to finding changed registry entries.
