  1. TheCrowX - to get the output I had in the screenshot, you need to use the qfecheck program (which can be downloaded from MS). Otherwise, I think running systeminfo from a command prompt will list installed hotfixes as well - however that only lists them from the registry without verifying file integrity like qfecheck.
  2. Maybe that's because it isn't a hotfix
  3. The /integrate command uses the GDR versions of the files. I use the QFE ones for my pack. I know I've posted the MS KB article NUMEROUS times before which explains the differences. Heck, I'm pretty sure I have even in this thread. Do some searching and you'll hopefully find the answer you're looking for.
  4. Apparently you missed the fact that WindowsUpdate came up clean . That was the point of the screenshot afterall... I've already got them integrated.
  5. (Yes, the list really is so long that I can't fit it in one window anymore) (And for the record, the one critical update showing is the .NET one which I haven't played with yet)
  6. Regarding the Windows Messenger update, you guys should probably know that the file it updates on the CD is in mmssetup.cab in i386 on the CD. It's not directly in i386.
  7. Are your other registry settings being applied OK? I personally apply mine from a batch file called by cmdlines.txt
  8. Since you're a newbie, you should take the time to read the forum rules before posting. And here's what I use on my CD:;Set Automatic Updates to "Check but don't install" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update] "AUOptions"=dword:00000002
  9. oh, I thought you were trying it with an unattended install I'll give it a shot on my next test run and let you know.
  10. And again, there's two things to check: 1.) can you delete the folders? (duh ) and 2.) are there more than just cat files in dllcache?
  11. Except that I purposely want to see system files I haven't yet seen a successful modification of sfcfiles.dll which didn't also break Windows File Protection. Every time I've tried including a hacked version of that DLL on my CD, I end up with an empty dllcache directory (with the exception of a few CAT files). So, has anybody managed to hack it without losing that functionality?
  12. Along those same notes, I've found CAB with LZX:21 compression to be on par most of the time with LZMA (7zip) as well. 7zip's certainly not infallible, but it does work quite well pretty much all the time.
  13. One thing you guys should know - GeckoVersion and MozVersion are now one in the same. I personally created and submitted the patch which made that a reality. You can see that for yourself now with any current installer build.
  14. Why is an error which appears in a log file a big deal?
  15. You are 100% correct. It emulates hardware, but no, you don't get to choose. In VirtualPC, for example, it emulates an S3 Trio for the video card. And you are also 100% correct that there's no way to test it other than a "live" trial. What I'd recommend you do is burn it to a CDRW and boot into Windows setup long enough to verify that it sees your array. If it does, you're set.
  16. There's your first problem - VMWare emulates hardware. It doesn't directly use the hardware in your system. This has been covered eleventy billion times in as many threads (in other words, SEARCH) - you cannot use F6 if you've got an unattended CD. Like I said before, you can't test RAID drivers in VirtualPC or VMWare. Sounds to me like you never created a virtual hard disk for the virtual machine you've got setup.
  17. It should, but I guess ultimately there's only one way to find out That's why we have VirtualPC
  18. You shouldn't get a WFP dialog if you add it directly to the CD.
  19. Yeah, that should be all you have to do.
  20. hmm...should I get Grammar Nazi on you next, Alanoll? BTW, I still wouldn't mind a link to my forums next to a link to my site
  21. The latest version (1.0.6.3) does support CMD files now. Of course, I find it to be rather buggy myself. Here's my list of gripes: Doesn't remember save to location (gets very irritating having to navigate to the correct folder every time I want to make an EXE) Doesn't do version number properly (nothing ResHacker can't fix, but still) Gives the program an icon even when I specifically tell it not to (again, nothing ResHacker can't fix, but still) BIG BUG: A couple users haven't been able to run my compiled exe. The window just flashes up then quits. I wish it had a context menu option for bat and cmd files to compile on the fly I wish it supported UPX compression. So yeah, it's got a long way to go in my book and isn't remotely close to being worth $40.
  22. A quick note - modifyPE isn't necessary unless you're hacking a file. You can just makecab the file and put it on the CD without that step.
  23. Well, future nLite versions will supposedly allow you to import your own reg tweaks, so that should take care of that. I think that'd be the best way to do it, personally. I try to put as few reg tweaks in my pack as humanly possible, as everybody has their own preferences. The only registry tweaks in mine are to fix an annoyance with Spybot and to trick WindowsUpdate into thinking the two file scanners have been run. EDIT: That being said, I'll probably be adding these entries for my own personal CD
  24. I think he's working on his shrine to the Patriots. (die Eagles die!)
