I have a batch file I use which combines the two CAB files and removes the duplicate files that exist in both driver.cab and the i386 directory. If you want to try it out, send me a PM. I don't plan on releasing it publicly because I really don't want to have to support it if something doesn't work (though I've been using it without issue for many months now).

I've never had any problems integrating ICH5R drivers manually. What was the problem? I thought the problems were with the other Intel drivers (like the standard ATA controllers). I did an install on an ICH5R RAID1 array (i875 motherboard) this summer with an unattended CD.

You might want to check your device manager to make sure you don't have an unknown device. Those files should be in your $OEM$ structure so that Windows can properly install the driver from the INF file. BTW - I'm pretty sure Bashrat's pack includes support for that controller.

RyanVM replied to Incroyable HULK's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
They aren't new security holes. They've been known about for three months. What's new is that Secunia upgraded their threat level. 2004-10-21: Updated advisory. 2004-10-28: Added another workaround in "Solution" section and linked to Microsoft Knowledge Base article. 2004-11-02: Updated with additional information in "Description" and "Solution" section. 2004-11-29: Updated "Description" section with additional information from Paul. 2004-12-23: Added link to US-CERT vulnerability note. 2004-12-25: Updated "Description" section with additional information from Paul and Michael Evanchik. 2005-01-07: Increased rating. Added link to test. Updated "Description" and "Solution" sections.Leave it to the sensationalists to botch the story -
Windows Update V5 software install
RyanVM replied to WattoDaToydarian's topic in Application Installs
You'll need to compress them with makecab. Or you can just pull them from my update pack like I said earlier. -

they're* OK, well unfortunately that means you can't just overwrite the files in i386 like you can for an SP2 CD. There's numerous INF files which come with it, and I've got a feeling you're going to have to run them all to properly install it. -

You can try it, but you still haven't directly answered my question. Are those files in i386 or not? -

OK, so those files aren't in i386 then? (Maybe a reason for you to switch to SP2 then ) No, WinRAR can't make cab files. Powerarchiver can. To properly integrate it, you'll probably have to run the INFs from the cab files to register all the DLLs. -

Those are in i386? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=28527 That's the thread I was looking for earlier. EDIT: You really need to stop jumping to conclusions. I'm asking if files are on your CD by default, not because you copied them there on your own. -

Windows Update V5 software install
RyanVM replied to WattoDaToydarian's topic in Application Installs
There's a thread on here where we discussed which files to download and integrate into the CD in order to be up to date. However, I can't find it for the life of me. However, my update pack has the newest WU5 files included in it. If you wanted, you could always just download that and grab the relevant files. -

Extract the files from the exe with WinRAR and run the MSI with the usual switches. -

[SourceDisksFiles] iteatapi.sys = 1,,,,,,3_,4,1 & iteatapi.sys = 1,,,,,,_x,4,1You shouldn't be putting both of these in. Either use iteatapi.sys uncompressed with the first line or use the compressed file and use the second line.

If you turn on quickedit mode, you can directly copy and paste. And that seems to agree with my hypothesis. Send me a PM. -

The only reason I can think of why it would be doing that is that the file doesn't match up with what the KB884020 security catalog has told Windows File Protection to look for. I'm wondering if it were removed from svcpack.inf if it would work. -

How did you install it? Is this on a fresh Windows install with the file in i386? -
The best way to register the fonts IMO is to open the c:\windows\fonts folder then kill it after a like 10 second delay with a program like pskill.

You're using the file I sent you? The checksum is ONLY for that file which I provided a download for. -
Have you done any other modifications to your CD? nLite or anything else?

Just open up Regedit and do it EDIT: Hell, you can even export the current key and then just edit that .reg file. -
Cant 'explore' or 'open' start menu folders
RyanVM replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
It's an issue with the DLL. It's "implemented" in my pack by being extracted from a CAB archive to system32 and registered like any other DLL (and the same way it would be registered if you were to download it an install it manually). I sent an email to the developer regarding that issue (and the Mydoom issue as well, but at least I'm able to work around that one), so I'm hoping to hear back from him on the matter. I'm not overly encouraged by the fact that it hasn't seen any development since 2002 (though the developer does have other more recent projects on his site - so at least he appears to still be around).
