i sugest maybe checkout the geforce line from ati be sure to check compatabitity for 98se as the newest cards are dropping 98 support .and i agree why buy new if your stuff is all u need.its only in a forum of techies do u find the newest is best crap .

conquering the 2gb barrier would be a plus with dvd use today.noting many new games etc. are well over 2gig.u da man.

ived notice similar things happening.i guess if a app(program want to check for a pickilar user exe version and its different u might have problems.i guess its impossible to try every program on any of these projects =rp5 98se2me etc.etc.

i have a P2-233mhz (128ram)with xp prosp2 it runs fairly decent with 64mb ram i found it a tad slow but as far as unattended and removal the answer lies above http://unattended.msfn.org/ good luck.eh

i had one fry aswell stuck it into a pc i was working on i guess the guys kids jammed usb keyboard plug in backwards and when i pluged in it shorted my stick out cost me 60 dollars .it sucked.

thxz 4 comming out janus.lol.3rd edition isnt that Me lol.so u want to repack the cabs from original 98se with inf and updated dlls plus add dx9 ie6sp1 wmp9 etc and maybe cool bootlogos etc and tada u have win 98se (2006)edition nice idea.what gets me is we have rp5 98se2me etx etc all addons .why cant u guys just get 2getter and combine it all and make this completed updated iso seem easy enuff ill supply coffee.

its funny how if u run xp for a few years if u jump on a 98 box you automatically can remember and quickly how 2 run 98.it like a imprint on your brain when i use 98se ill admit it is easilier with less steps.

i just nlite my xpcd then before i burn iso i throw my modded WINNTBBU.DLL not compressed into the system 32 folder the one made for the nlite iso.

Its true last month i was called to clean up a p4 the was running slower than the next windows os release .The culpit was are old friend norton.so i removed it and like post above avg7.1 spybot yada yada yada and it went faster than the patch releases from microshaft.lol.

no xp sp2 doesnt slow down windows.when sp2 was released alot of people complainted it broke some previous app installions and some panned it as evil but this happens everytime anythings released.i have xp pro sp2 running on a P2-266mhz with 128 sd 100 ram and it runs fairly decent overall.

it sound like making a ghost image of a full updated 98se and then maybe using xcopy to move it on 2 the hardrive might work as well.theres probably a few related ideas.

this is a brillant idea petr .we have all seen autopatcher for 2000/xp and i have often wonder why noone applied this to win98 .i guess it made more sense to follow the wave and stick with the current os outthere but after years of using 9x etc i find the majority of users just want a 98se thats completely up 2 date ie6 dx9 wmp 9 etc.and if it could be done on one iso the better.i think us regulars in here who are mod and tweak savy forget the many who are not and cant figure out the sometimes complex tasks of building a a bootable cd or a 98 cd with apps which install after setup unattented.Im rather familar with nlite and have made many cds so this i can understand.and if this is the final chapter on 98se then this would be a crowning achevement a complete up 2 date 98se. best of luck..

listen up:every windows os from 95-vista has been bashed 2 death during beta stage and bashed threw the service pack stage etc.Their never be a perfect os theres always bugs .Why defend a os cause you dont like the newest os .Does it really matter as long as it suits your needs.too many whiners complaint about vista too many whiners whined about win 98 when 95 was king etc etc the beat goes on.And remember each new os bring sometime new something better 2 the table and because we resist change we critizes it.Vista will be a success might take 2 yrs like xp did 2 catch on and then your be whining about vienna or whatever the next after vista relese is.have a beer plays some halo and chill out.

its funny after traveling to the forums the lack of concern about 98se.to think many of these forums cut their teeth running 98 and now seem to shun it like the plague.Its anicient ya 2 years older than xp.its 9x the kernel is unstable hmmm like nt is all the hype it was supposed to be.Ms no support your os is now pronged to every virus disease on the planet better upgrade or die.if u ask me i can,t think of a patch outside of the famous shutdown fix for 98 that has helped or hinder me.I suppose like rats 2 cheese were all suppose to follow the masses adopt each new os and critize the last one.But the idiots posts ived read all seem to just run 98 down because its the cool thing 2 do some kind of peer pressure that if a mod says it suck best agreed or look stupid defending your own opinions .myself i lov the speedy little os that could ,more websites more programs just more fun was had with 98se during the golden age 1998-2003 .Why are these programmers making apps for 98se cause they remember how it taught them about tweaking etc.sure as manufacters get on the nt bandwagon and drop 9x support in their installer many continue to include it. i sometimes wonder why w2k users think their immune to lack of support and once again the stuff comming out of this forum the sps the kernel this revolution that is amazing. their wasnt this kinda stuff made during 98-2003 this is great.in closing dont follow the leader choose the os u feel comfortable with and best suites your needs. i hear mdgx got a site on aol .lol 98se 4ever 4 now!!

my report:the system info side of hurricaine is rather nice. i try the speedup processes side and i timed it seem to load about 30% faster and their many setting 2 play with but all in all a great program.yet as far as speed goes minimal overall but worth it 4 the sys info gdi .i rate this app 7out of 10 thxz mimihq.
