You could just make a link to the file on the desktop or start menu. Most users aren't smart enough to type in the server address and share in the browser. If this is not the case let me know and I'll look into it. Also what server environment are you running???? 2k, 2003? Different policies can be set in different versions so let me know. Good luck Hatefulsorrow

unattended windows error
Hatefulsorrow replied to manu144x's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
@Avneet Please do. I would like to help but can't until I see the image. Hatefulsorrow -
@Thai3q I totaly agree.

I'm a little confused. Are you trying to open an outlook 2003 pst in express? If so I don't think that you can. There might be an option to convert your current pst to express format. This would be in the Import/Export section of the File menu but as afore stated, I don't think that is possable without a third-party program. If I am way off base let me know. Hatefulsorrow

I'm not sure if this will work but you could try making a new pst in the location that you want it to be and the move all of the contents of the default one to that new file. Then where you set up your mail accounts you can set the mail to be sent to that pst rather then the default. Just a thought. Good luck Hatefulsorrow

@All There is a file in your i386 directory of any winxp based cd. It is called SETUPP.ini. This file is what tells the set up what type of windows is being installed (OEM, Retail, VLK) and also which product key it accepts. The file looks like this. [Pid] ExtraData=796674736977656D7A622E3858xxxx Pid=55274270 Now in the extra data part of the file i have taken out the last four charactors to avoid any legalities. This part of the file tells setup which key to accept. I have a document that tells one how to convert their key into these numbers. PM me if any one needs this file. The Pid part of the file tells setup the type of windows. The last three charactors are what change. 270 = VLK OEM = Oem And the other for retail, well I forgot but I will look through my files to find out for sure in some one needs it. My post is that one can make a VLK out of a normal OEM or Retail Pro or home cd to replace one that is missing. The easy way would be to take the SETUPP.INI file from your cd2 and move it to a copy of the i386 directory of a xp pro cd to make a replacement. Some other files (like the one to make windows activated) may need to be copied as well. But in my experience this has worked quite well.

ok, off topic and maybe a stupid question, but do you need .net framework v1.0 or 1.1 installed for most programs AS WELL as 2.0 or can you just have 2.0??? I searched microsoft but had no luck

Thanks for the heads up on the diskpart info. As for the format option, I have it set too full because when it was on quick I would get corrupt files in windows when I tested in VM. Donn't know if this is just because it was a VM but i just wanted to be on the safe side.

RPG's. They contain some of the best stories and plots. Some of the games I've played have a story plot so involved that it makes you think of different aspects of life in ways that I never even considered. Has anyone ever played Star Ocean 3 for the PS2? Now that has a story that realy makes you think.

Ok, I wanted to know if this can be done. I found this page while looking for UA info. It states how to move the print spooling folder from is default location (in the %windir%\system32 folder) to the folder of your choice. Is there any way to do this in an Unattened Install of Windows? I could make an Autoit script but can it just be done durring the setup???? Hatefulsorrow P.S. If this is wrong location for this post plz move or let me know. And sorry if so.

Would someone plz PM me when this is done? I would love to have WMP11 :) Thanks

Here is a simple PE cmd that will partition and format your harddrive automatically using diskpart. I use this to pre-set drive letters so I can use Definite paths in an UA Install of windows. (All files Must be placed in your PE's system32 directory) 1) The CMD to run the script. (The reboot is setup for BartPE) Here 2) The diskpart script that does all the work. Here Cheers, Hatefulsorrow

Any time I can help. NP. Oh and about the music, My goal is to have every song in every language in every mix ever recorded. I have 4 separate, dedicated machines just ripping music and auto searching the web for any and all new songs by any artist. This information is then loaded into an XML which is in-turn loaded by a home-made program that loads the file names into file sharing search engines to look for the song. It also spits out a spreadsheet with the names and information of all the songs downloaded over the corse of a week. I then upload them into my liberary. It's an obsesion realy. Lol. If anyone has any more questions or ideas let me know and I'll see if I can help. Laterz Hatefulsorrow

I do this every day. 1. Open WMP 2. Open the options Via Tools>Options 3. Goto the Rip Music Tab 4. In the section that states where to rip you music Click change 5. Change the location to where you music collection is. 6. Click the Liberary Tab 7. Click Monitor Folders 8. Set a Monitor on the same folder that your music is located in. 9. In the Automatic Media Information Update Section check the "Retrieve Additional Media Information from the Internet" And set the radio buttion to Overwrite all existing Media Information 10. Check "Rename music files using rip music settings" 11. Check "Rearrange music in rip music folder, using rip music settings." 12. Goto the Privacy Tab 13. Make sure all the check boxes on this tab are checked 14. Click the Player Tab 15. Check "Connect to the Internet (Overrides other commands)" 16. Click Apply and OK 17. Now goto your media Liberary. 18. Click Add to Liberary. 19. Click "By Searching Computer..." 20. Browse for you Media and select the topmost folder 21. Click the radio buttion that says "New Files and existing files in liberary without media information 22. Under advanced options, Make sure the box for "Add files previously deleted from liberary" is checked. 23. Click search and allow the process to finish 24. After information is added click Tools>Process Media Information 25. Let run until the progress window's cansel buttion states close 26. Right click the file type bar and click Media Info 27. Arrange media by clicking on Media Info. Now all the files that don't have media information need to be found by hand. This can be done by right clicking the file and selecting "Find Album Info". It take some time to get used to the media information updater but that is all you'll need to know. It may at times take two passes on some media to arrange the file. (i.e. Checking the media info twice.) But you'll have things organized nicely and neatly. Hope this helps. Hatefulsorrow P.s. It is very time comsuming to find media info by hand. But stick to it. I have a 1.2 Terabit media collection foldered and organized. Roughly 980,000 songs all at 192 kbps. I've been organizing for about a year and a half and just recentally saw the light of the end. P.s.s. All instuctions are made using Windows Media Player 10

I've looked into it and I dont like the extensive overhead. I want it to be simple and quick. The whole partition and format process should add no more then 10 mins to a UA.
-
You could and make a referece to them in the text setup portion of the setup. Then windows could (theoretically) de-cab them to their proper places by these references. But then the registary entries would have to be entered via the HIVESFT.inf and all link would have to be made by hand. It's better to just install the programs and save your self the headache.
-
One way to remove this would be to do a complete export of your registry and hand remove the entries. Then re-import the edited registry. But this can be dangerious because it may cause the system to crash. Don't know if it would work for sure but it's an idea.

@Nepali I also have easy boot but I don't know how to call a exe or batch script from a menu command
-
Can I emulate awin32 evironment without using winpe? I'm trying to make the process completely automated. As for the size issue thats no big problem as I am making a ua DVD
-
My idea is to re-script the windows boot loader image to load a different exe file that uses diskpart to partition and format the harddrive without a reboot or floppies. The whole thing needs to run from the cd. Can this be done with CDSHELL?
-
It looks like it might work well. But can CDSHELL call dos based files and partitioning tools? And if so can it also start the script required to do so automatically? With a Yes/No timeout and default? Sorry about all the questions.
