Yes, the CDRTools Kit is a good, tested and trusted application. It is a port of UNIX based tools. In fact, the first versions of XPCREATE used it. Among other good features are the query possibilities to find burners, check media, etc. I do recommend it to anyone wishing to control the CD burning process. However, due to it's complexity, and large footprint (you need the cygwin.dll), I do not have plans to implement it at the moment. I would suggest you just set DOCD=NO, and call your script after ... save you from having to modify the source (a big no-no ... ). I will say, nice code! (LOVE THAT UPPERCASE!), and I will certainly think about CDRECORD next time I'm in that code. Thanks for the suggestion - they are always welcome. I will note that XPCREATE is quite stable, so I tend to avoid too many modificatins at this point. Si t'es Francais, wieso shickst du immer Deutsche Linken?

Hi VAD! You'll be fine (I hope!) On the Current Hotfix list, it tell's you where to put the correct QCHAIN file (SVC-QCH). COMPRESS ands EXPAND have been replaced with "native" WINXP programs (such as MAKECAB, which was always there.) I would still keep DLAUTO=YES: once you have all the files it will not download them again, but it will still check the files MD5 value, for integrity. Just a thought ...

Looks like you downloaded the wrong file ... The one you need is about 5 Mb, and ONLY available from Windows Update Catalog, there is no direct download link from Microsoft.
-
No solution / discovery / answer?
-
Thanks, VAD! Did you try that, Bilou?
-
I believe it is superceeded by 826942. If the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer does not list it on your installations, I consider that you do not need it.
-
831167 requires QCHAIN (as I recall ...). The vbs56nen (something like that ..) update messes with the js56nen update, and is not needed. If you have the vbs update, remove it. If not, check the installed file versions, and see if they are OK.

No idea ... but I'd suspect the problem is not XPCREATE related: It just adds Microsoft files. Do you have a modem configured in you Virtual installation? Did you try on real hardware?

Hmmm. You didn't test my DOWNLOAD.HTM: it work's fine for what you wanted to do. Now there is still the same DOWNLOAD.HTM on the first page, and it doesn't work, at least for me. If you are interested: <HTML> <HEAD> </HEAD> <BODY> <script language="javascript"> self.location="LINKGOESHERE"; </script> </BODY> </HTML>Could be that javascript needs to be either in the head or the body ...

Welcome to MSFN, alanrosesf! Well ... Firstly, yes, the Web Site is assuming a certain technical level, and is far from complete, and certain sentences outright outdated or incorrect (REG file handling no longer exists). It needs a re-write, and is on my todo list - but not too high ... Basically, it is simply a question of finding the time and doing it, and the fact that I consider the chore less than stimulating: neither rewarding, nor terribly interesting. When I do, I will re-read your suggested edits, for which I thank you. In terms of your SATA/RAID drivers, I have no first hand experience with those drivers in the RAID configuration, and would like to know if you get it working OK. Yes, the instructions are assuming the XP distribution is already on the HDD, and that you have created, and are familiar with, the WINNT.SIF file. If not ... familiarize yourself on the unatttended site first. As for the 1,, and whatever I have in the CAB file, though not the same, the downloaded files should be fine - there is always more than one way to skin a cat. Thanks again for the suggestions, I will file them right here, until I work on the web site! Good luck, and keep us posted as to how you get on.

ISO Creator for WinXP Pro. Why the date change?
GreenMachine replied to ODC's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No special reason: you can remove the switch, or use your own date with no problem. -
Never work ... The only viable solution is a "caretaker" that is responsible for maintaining. It is that volunteer that seems so hard to find: it seems there are terribly few of us that do something for nothing ... Remember, this IS the Internet, Anarchy, Freedom Of Speech and the First Amendment all rolled into one!
-
Reluctantly ... I will look into something next time I go over the download code ... (God knows when that'll be ... !)
-
Still on my todo list ... just a bit busy these days ...
-
Another one solved!
-
That's right ... I am not sure of the status of the NL download lists, but if it has errors or missing files, please either post the exact name/URL of the missing file, of fix up the list for inclussion! (Thread linked to above.)

S.O.L. ... You're only option is to NOT slipstream that update. There is more than one update that has long file names: most are Type II hotfixes. Renaming will NOT work. This is out of my control. Believe me, I do not like it any more than you ...

Driverpack Sound - V5.03.1 & V5.03
GreenMachine replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
Sorry about the link ... I've yet to see an archive smaller than a CAB file, and there is built-in Windows support. I mention this as I try to avoid installing 3rd party software, and generally look for solutions that will be readily available on all systems. Just a thought ... -
