Adding multiple SATA/RAID drivers as such is no problem, and XPCREATE independant. Integrating via XPCREATE requires the standard procrdure listed on the Web Site. The only risk is possible driver conflict. That happened to me when integrating all XPCREATE-known drivers.

Sorry ... I cannot justify special treatment for a patch that shows neither in Windows Update nor the Baseline Security Advisor. I am not a fun of special cases, and this one is too much trouble.
-
Pas mal ... Thanks, Bilou!
-
I believe they are the same, at least they should be. Again, after (successfull) testing, I will add them to my lists.

Geez, am i the only one on vacation? I had a nice quiet board until a couple days ago! I'm killing some time at JFK in NY, so I thought I'd add a couple words ... Firstly, the hotfix list will NOT be updated with the July hotfixes until I can test them. Until then, you can follow some of the posts on this board and add them manually. Though it probaby would be safe to add them, I learned long ago to not take resposibility for thigs I have not personally tested. With some luck, I should have a chance to look at them this week-end. Secondly, any other enhancements to XPCREATE are not in the works at the moment. There have been many "requests" for added functionality, particularly concerning Hotfix downloading. THe point of these lists was to deliver what I consider to be the "failsafe" list. This list only downloads hotfixes that are reprted a** needed bu Windows Update and the MS Baseline Security Advisor, with the exception of the MSBSA itself, and the soon to be removed SWFlash. If that list does not suit your needs, it is up to you to assume responsibility for the downloading. In general XPCREATE is working quite well (I would say excellent, but that may be less objective ...) at doing that for which it was designed. It is not, and does not pretend to be, a complete Unattended Windows solution. There is both too much work involved in progamming, and more importantly, customer support. Additionally, the more XPCREATE can do, the lower the User Base competence level becomes, as well as User Level desire to learn and help. XPCREATE can certainly be used in conjunction with other programs at your own discrepency (e.g. nLite, XPlode, WIHU, etc) to achieve the desired results. Lastly ... why does everyone hit me when I'm down, or off-line. Don't you all want to spend more time on the beach, the course, or just relaxing ?!?!? So, if I manage to update anything, you will find it here, but don't hold your breath waiting !!!

I'm still on the road, and will be for a few weeks. My lab has been reduced to a Laptop, my ADSL to an Internet connection via my Mobile Phone, my appartment to a VW Microbus/Camper, and my freetime to Sightseeing, Visiting, and Golfing. I will not be able to test the July Updates and Hotfixes for a couple weeks, and until I do, I will not be updating any Hotfix Lists. !
-
That's the ticket! I have to admit, nothing like the simple, effective solutions offered by a batch file! Glad you got it working!
-
Enough. Next update the the Download Lists WILL NOT include SWFlash. XPCREATE will continue to integrate it if is included in the SVC-SWF directory. Too many download problems ...
-
@iceclow: Sorry, your logfile showed nothing, as you said. For some reason iOpus does not seem to work for you. Firewall, perhaps? You can manually download the files as shown on the Current Hotfixes page on the XPCREATE Web Site, and set DLAUTO=NO in the XPCREATE.INI file.

Thanks, enuffsaid, for the links. I didn't know about the Java update, but I'd bet the 2K SP4 file works ... Believe me, I know where you are coming from ... and yes, MSFN is sometimes taken for granted. A kind word and a show of appreciation is all too rare these days, in all facets of life. Sometimes I think it might be better to spend my free time hanging out at The Bulldog ... Still ... good to see you around! Abd thanks as well to all the Vel Stratys out there, that are kind enough to lend a helping hand. Nice to see posts other than ... HELP! So, enuffsaid, for now you are forgiven, but remind me after vacation to work on your XPCREATE conversion/induction! Tot ziens!
-
I suggest you make a basic XPCREATE installation, and once that is working WITHOUT any User-specific customizations, try your RunOnceEx, etc. If it still does not work, try your luck posting a question in the Unattended Forum. Even though you are using XPCREATE, your questions and problems are certainly NOT XPCREATE related.
-
Boy, do I love simple solutions! Keep it up, fellahs!
-
Sounds good to me! Generally, I don't bother with beta in XPCREATE: I hate to do work, only to find the final release renders it in vain ...
-
These are the result of slipstreaming hotfixes. I don't remember which. However ... why in the world would they bother you. Think about it. Wanting to remove files just because they aren't pretty is silly at best, and stupid at worst. I admit, they used to bother me, but now I don't look there, and there is no problem!

Good! In that case, I shan't take offense! I only add the DLink Air-Plus (PCMCIA, I think V 1.0 is the latest) and the LinkSys USB "Dongle" drivers. Sorry: didn't mean to make a fuss for 2 drivers! As the WLAN adapters are relativly new, it's easy to miss some. If you have all the DLink and LinkSys drivers, then you probably already have these. Here's a thought ... I just installed THESE drivers to connect via a Sanyo 8100 phone (common in the U.S.). So ... when you finish the Sound, LAN, WLAN, DSL packs, perhaps a Wireless Phone pack! For the Marvell drivers, I got mine from the ASUS site (I think ... ), and I also found some through Windows Update. In fact, Windows Update has many updated drivers, but the only way I've seen to identify them are on a box with outdated drivers. Another thought would be to sign up to a robot that reports web page/site updates for the driver download pages: that may make the updating easier. For what it's worth ... Good luck!

Moving Documents and Settings
GreenMachine replied to jimbojones's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Once again, thanks zippy! I was wondering where I posted that ... This link may work a little better: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=19639 (The other link did not show all the posts for me.) -
Awesome! (Why didn't I think of that?) I agree: I do not like setting up a web server for something so ... well, a one time use. Thanks zippy: looks like I'll put off the "How To" for a few more days!

Moving Documents and Settings
GreenMachine replied to jimbojones's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
No time ... This thread gives an example of what I would do ... http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=22042&st=0 You could also use the HKCU\RunOnceEx idea I mentioned above. I have not tried it, but there was a good example in this forum about 2 months ago. Again, sorry, but I am packing my bags at the moment to hop on a plane in a few hours. Gotta love Summertime! -
Is there a way to check if a disc is formatted ?
GreenMachine replied to midiboy's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Now I remember, it wasn't only the Umlauts, it was that "Z" and "TZ" thing, too. (Ich hab's schon wieder upgef*cked!) Sorry, right now I am packing my bags, but I will test a bit next week if you are still interested. -
Multi Bella! Thanks, TenaciousMetal! Like I said, I'm limited in availability for the next few days, but I think the List Master will add this to the site very soon, and you can test it from there. Thanks again!
-
Mamma Mia! Let me guess: Windows Update.txt has the URLs from files downloaded through Windows Update: just the easy way I use, but there are many, and probaly better, methods out there. Anyways ... not much time for the next few days ... I'll check back later. Big thanks to Vel Straty for his HFLIST contributions and help in this thread.
-
Well, I'm off across another three time zones for some vacation ... I'll be off and on for a while. I did get my laptop connected to the 'net through my cell phone, so I'll be keeping an eye on you all!
-
Thanks, TenaciousMetal, and Welcome to MSFN! Sorry, but the hardest part of making the list is replacing DOWNLOADLINKHERE. The file C:\Windows\Windows Update.txt will have the URLs if you let Windows Update download the files for you. As soon as I can ... I will make a better "How To" page for this, and include instructions on setting up this HFLIST file on a local web server, so that the users can test the files BEFORE posting them here. That is, unless someone has the kindness to do it before me ...

You requested support for WiFi USB dongles and PCMCIA cards, but could you please be more specific? I mean: please specify manufacturers (cause there are so many of them and perhaps you know some I don't know...) Nevermind ... just trying to help ...

PDF Creator and Norton Utils errors
GreenMachine replied to Tachikoma's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Suggestion: I don't know about anyone else, but seeing so much to read scares me away right away. If it is a normal installation, I doubt you will find many people here interested in looking into it: try a forum related to the software, Again, if it is a normal installation of the software, perhaps you have "customized" your Windows in a way that causes problems. If you did something non-orthodox, you should mention it. Finally ... I think the following post should be required reading for all posters: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (My soon to be favorite quote.)
