Some news. It seems this saves some memory. Not that much but it does. I'll have to do other more precise tests to have usable stats. And, last but not least : I successfully used this to have unattended visual settings! No shadow under my pointer, no fade, no scroll... This is one is very easy to do and does not created any bug (the "folder" bug was present on another hacked shell32.dll) . ^100

It does not invalidate your XP. The main concern is activating XP, nlited or not, every 2 months. You'd better use a disc image (Ghost or something else) as aSMiLoN said.

Do you have any special or non-ASCII character in your path ? I mean a path like "c:\èXP" or "c:\xp pro" shouldn't be used. Could you try on another computer with the same XP disk ?

Have you tried to ONLY select this component ? I have a problem with "Teletext codec". With my preset, it is not removed. So I run nlite a first time, it removes everything except Teletext codec. Immediately after, on an already nlited source, I run nlite a second time and I select Teletext codec again and it is removed.

I really copied the string without seeing anything. tianchg, you may try to run nlite again. Run nlite and remove what you want. Then, run nlite again, on the same folder and tick "Printers" again.

I found the french name of this documentary: "Les enfants perdus de Tranquility Bay" (Transuility Bay lost children). The emission is called "Envoyé Spécial" and the channel is France2 which is public channel so I'll see if I can find it and share it. Anyway, this seems incredible. I really wonder how this started!

This structure is not in hives but is in shell32.dll. Btw, I'll do some benchmarks this weekend. On my laptop, ATi Radeon X700 Mobility Dx9 compa ATi published a WDDM driver Pixel Shader is OK afaik 32 bits color-depth 128MB of video memory So laptops can run Aero. I've not tested myself but I know someone with the same config whohas Vista beta2 installed, so I'll ask him.
