    Reboot (?)

LOL The last time a pc 'died' on me was when i added a 2nd HD to it. The psu couldn't support the load for too long so it shut down on me. I couldn't revive it. After that, I replaced the psu but I think the mobo and ram died as well.

    Reboot (?)

I've had a similar reboot problem, but it's totally unrelated to the MSBlast worm. I think you should check your box, especially the power supply (while the machine is running) to see if the fans are working properly. I have a problem with my power supply being that the fans only work when they feel like it, resulting in overheating of the PSU. This in turn causes my pc to reboot every 2-3 mins of logging on. (Sometimes it doesn't even reach the Windows Startup logo)

    Outlook

It does? MS is forcing people to buy their Office suites. haha
  4. is it the 'custom member title'?
  5. Sorry for this pathetic thread. When you post a thread, you usually see your username, and other people's usernames on the left side of the screen. Also, underneath the names, there's this description tag for the user. My question is, where do i go to change this in controls?

    Outlook

I'm sure that you have a Hotmail account, or may have come across one in the past. The thing is, all mailboxes have a limit on storage, agree? What a lot of people don't realise, especially those who only use the web to check their email, is that storing email messages in Outlook gives them a 'virtually unlimited' storage space. Those who only use the web to check Hotmail are losing out because they have to delete emails when their inbox becomes full.
  7. I can't remember where I posted this message, but does anyone know what the RPC is actually used for?
  8. Duno about you lot, but some people say it's better to use two AV softwares for better protection because if one doesn't detect a virus, the other may do. I'm with Norton

    Outlook

Oh I see. Well that's just bs to be honest. Hope they add that to the forthcoming Outlook Software! People won't be happy with MS if they can't add their Hotmail accounts if they use the normal versions.

    Outlook

So you are saying that the normal Outlook does not support the IMAP server?

    Outlook

I understand that they are further developing the Office suite, but after so many versions released, I still havent been able to add a Hotmail account to Outlook. As for MSN Explorer, why on earth do we need to register/subscribe to '.net passport' in order to use it?
  12. Is there any use for the RPC feature if you are only using the pc for surfing the net and Instant Messaging? I don't know what the RPC is used for, can anyone explain?

    Outlook

Sorry, not sure when to post this thread. Some of you may have read articles regarding Microsoft killing Outlook Express. What I wanted to ask is whether Outlook (found in the Office suite) is capable of loading Hotmail accounts because many versions of Outlook prior to XP did not allow this. I have only tested this on Outlook 2000, and couldn't load my Hotmail account on it. Any idea how I can get it to work?
  14. erm.. ok, i didnt look at the forum title! and Bigred didnt mention it in his/her msg.
  15. Easy, go to Tools menu > Options > General Tab, and then uncheck the 2nd and 4th options at the top.
  16. cheers mate. oh btw, can you tell me what the web edition contains? just out of curiosity.
  17. Hi, presuming that a person uses a pc mainly for gaming and testing, which edition(s) of Windows 2003 would be best to install? (Standard/Enterprise/Web) and which edition can be used to turn Windows 2003 into a workstation?
  18. I hope I'm not talking rubbish, but I always thought Favourites were specific to that particular user only!? That is the case on my machine and my dial-up setting is available to all users. Each user is meant to have their own Favourites folder which is stored separately in each individual's profile.
  19. Have you ever considered IBM HD's? I think IBM ones are not as noisy as the two you mentioned.
  20. Hi, Imma noob with WinNT. Just wana ask what is the main benefits from using win2k3 over XP Pro? Forget the server side of things for the time being.
  21. I haven't tried using 2 NICs, but I have had my PC and laptop connected using Firewire and Ethernet at the same time. As far as I know, the network needs to be configured and from my experience you are only permitted to use either one of the other, not both. I maybe wrong about this, but having sent data between my two machines using a bridged connection, I've noticed that the transfer rate does not exceed 100mbps
  22. Upgrades and Full versions are exactly the same, except that you are required to produce an older version during setup in order to proceed with the installation of the newer software.
