  2. Do Form virii still exist? Thought they got wiped out years ago. I remember back in the dayz when floppy were the main media to use. A Form virus comes along and sits on my floppy doing nothing but occupy 400kb of disk space.
  3. A bad copy is a bad serial in my opinion. The only way to put it right is to purchase a license with the serial on it.
  4. What's the best way to limit the bandwidth of two PCs using one internet connection? Asking this because my friend wants to upgrade and share the internet with cousin, and they both (i expect) will try and hog all the bandwidth (playing games/downloading). I just want to find a way where both of them can enjoy using the internet without one or the other hogging all the bandwidth.
  5. mobo is dead. Tried new psu on it already.
  6. In that case, my mobo is dead.
  7. Yeah, the thing is, I got the new mobo with cpu + RAM so didn't try the old cpu on the new mobo. As for the RAM I can't test them because they are SDRAM 133MHz sticks as opposed to the DDR RAM the mobo supports now. I decided to connect the old stuff today, but nothing happens when I press the power button. I'm wondering if it's only the mobo that's gone. One thing I want to ask is, if the cpu or RAM fails, will the machine still power up? Coz there's no activity at all on this granny machine.
  8. Hi all. A while back I used to use a 250W psu with my mobo. However, when I added a 2nd HD in the machine I think it overloaded the psu and everything stopped working. I remember that the mobo didn't work when I purchased a new psu. Could anyone suggest which parts I can reuse from the old mobo? Do you think the CPU and RAM will still be fully functional or would they everything (CPU, mobo & RAM) have been blown up along with the psu? I've put the old stuff back together again just now, but haven't connected the psu to it as it's being used in the new machine. Just want to find out if it's worth testing these stuff again.
  9. MSFN has sooooo many repeated polls (this one included).
  10. Well, I'm just looking for a low to average figure. Duno if 20W sounds too low even for minimum.
  11. You can set up VPN on Windows 2000, XP (Pro), server editions. Windows ME can be connected to one but not set up one up.
  12. I've installed certain apps from each version of Office - Word (XP), Excel (2k3) etc. etc. If Outlook is of major importance, then I'd suggest Office XP over 2000 because for those who use Hotmail, they will find that they cannot add their hotmail account to Outlook 2000. Also, about compatibility, you have the option to save a document as Rich Text Format.
  13. My machine sometimes sits idle saying 'saving user settings' or something like that. Doesn't happen all the time, and have not had any serious errors found either.
  14. Does anyone know how much power a watercooling device for PCs consume? I've heard different numbers thrown at me and I'm a bit confused now. Anyone like to take a guess, or even better, give an approximate for how much power a 'watercooler' consumes? (Don't want to know about peltier since that consumes way too much power).
  15. Are you able to communicate with your other machines via the router? If not, it may be the router itself that's causing the problem in which case you'll probably need to reset the router.
  16. Yes, I have that in mine. But not using 2003 on my laptop at the moment so can't show you.
  17. Make sure you scan and clean out any virii on your files before you burn that cd.

    SP2 Slipstream

Since SP2 will be such a big update, it will surely include updates from SP1 as well. I'm sure they will have two versions of this update anyway, one for those who have SP1 already installed, and another which is the full file for admins to use.
  19. Hmm... Let me start a new AV poll then.. hehe
  20. OMG!! How can you forget to add Norton AV on the list?? tut tut!! Oh btw, McAfee has released v8 for a few months now. Also, some people like NOD32. Haven't seen/used it myself but would give it a try.
  21. This poll question repeats itself too often.
  22. On my computer, the icons stay there until I flush the cache/delete cookies and wipe the history.

    Hyperos 2003

MS has released VPC2004. I find it really slow, also slows down my machine's overall performance. The only good thing about VPC over HyperOS is that you can run another copy of an OS within Windows XP. Apart from this, I reckon it's a load of rubbish. Hope HyperOS 2004 allows you to run another OS within Windows XP.

    Hyperos 2003

Try amazon. They're usually cheaper than most other online retailers. Didn't even know 2004 was out already.
