  1. Am I going through a phase of dejavu or what? I swear I read a news article 2 or 3 years back saying that Intel is developing the BTX form factor.
  2. Can anyone tell me what's the difference between setting 0 and JBOD? Still unsure about going for raid or as mightnight.commander suggested - the raptor 36GB HD
  3. Hi, I'm thinking of getting a second HD in which I hope to set up a raid configuration. I just want to ask everyone - what is the best raid setting if I wanted it for performance? I'm a bit confused with the (0, 1, 0+1, JBOD etc) settings for raid. Oh, I think I'll leave the 'backup' configuration out because I don't really need it. Any ideas?

  5. My grandmother constantly nags at me during the night with her pathetic tone, which kills, especially when you keep hearing it over and over. Makes me really want to tell her to f-off in her face sometimes. Please excuse my behaviour - it really p***es me off though.
  6. HD's are better on Master because you'll use it much more often. CDRW's aren't in use all that much if you think about it. Also, I think it's unlikely that you'll be burning 650/700mb of data everytime you use the thing anyway so it's not going to hog your system all that much either. I'm sure your CDRW has the SmartBurn technology in it - makes less of a worry.

Crap!! Intel is taking the lead
  9. I would have thought putting the CDRW as primary slave would be best for those who use a CDRW.
  10. Nice to see that there are Lite-On supporters in here. All my CD/dvd drives are Lite-On, with the exception of this half-price Philips DVD+RW i got last yr.
  11. Oh! Isn't the latency and access time the same thing?
  12. I don't understand this, Corsair's website gives the specification of one of their RAM giving people the impression that it's extremely fast and yet if you look at the specification (link below), it says the latency is 5ns. Most other DDR ram have a latency of between 2ns - 3ns. Corsair XMS RAM
  13. I'd go for a Lite-On or Plextor CD writer. The write speed can be a factor to decide on, but I reckon only 40% of all users will reach their max write speed because they don't usually write 650/700mb on to a cd in one go.

I might do my shopping in HK next summer... let's hope that the government doesn't raise the sales tax which currently stands at 0%

Yeah, lower sales tax in most asian countries, especially Hong Kong.

P5 would most probably be a 64-bit. I'm most probably wrong since I've heard no news regarding a P5. All I know is that Intel is releasing/released the P4c.

Ah crap! Admin, move this poll to the Polls section please. Sorry!
  20. What will your next PC be?
  21. I think MSFN has the best layout over many other tech sites.
  22. Oh ok. I was told that you should use any kind of spray on LCD screens except an air duster. Wet/dry wipes should be used instead.
  23. You want to get some wet wipes for LCD monitors as the screen is soft (unless you have a glass screen)
  24. Yea, but this stuff literally freezes the key, and gives moisture to the keyboard, so you can actually wipe that dry dirt right off! I used this on my laptop keyboard and it worked great! If you're going to use an AirDuster, DON'T hold the can sideways. Leave it upright, then it will just release air and not the liquid that freezes your keys. Note: It IS safe to use for the inside of your box as long as you KEEP IT UPRIGHT!
  25. I doubt it'll be 'twice as fast', but obviously the 32-bit software will run considerably faster.
