Rasman = Remote Access Connection Manager It's a service, needed for networking. You probably removed some networking components (ethernet?). The first one is the video driver of the emulated virtual machine (VirtualBox). Probably you removed Display Adapters (old). Or it can be downloaded separately... search for it. Third one, I don't know what it is. Please provide English description. And Last Session.ini (as attachment). GL

This is dangerous. That key isn't used only for this. Now, if there was some description of different possible values anywhere, it would be another story... GL

It's a valid update BUT seems like that to me: they're trying to push their new (vista+) 'way' of doing things. So the real question is: whether exist any hardware (smart card) that requires this new functionality and wouldn't work without it (won't work the old way)? GL

Try running UniExtract once again over any *.cab files in there. GL

You need to do that, it works on XP. GL

elitegroup = ECS Good luck GL

Very inventive GL

You need NVidia drivers for that board (if it's the ECS that pops on google). And I've never seen a board with mixed NVidia/Intel controllers. So I'd say it's pretty safe (and even desirable) to omit Intel drivers. GL

eh3, I think you need UXTheme patch (I think it's missing, I never bother with themes), except if all the themes are signed. And he told you to attach the Last Session.ini. GL

I remember reading someone, somewhere setting up his home system so he could watch his TV from another continent... But for the life of me I can't remember anything about it... Where I read it or how he did it... Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but I just wanted to let you now it's possible and someone has done it, so don't give up too easy... GL

(Solved) Removed Viruse Now Blue Screens?
GrofLuigi replied to Redhatcc's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
I remember reading (and experiencing) that XP prior to SP1 (or 2?) was very prone to registry errors. Gave up too soon just like Win 2000, and in the SP they improved the resillience to registry errors. What I want to say is, make sure it's SP2 or 3. But with that many microbes... GL -
Just drop them in %systemroot%\system32. I don't know the exact method (OEM preinstall?) since I've always been too busy removing stuff, not adding. I don't think so, but I might be wrong. Hopefully someone else can answer that.GL

It would be better if you opened new topic. At first glance, I see you removed too much networking functions/IE/OE/WIA/Messenger/AppCompat/jet/VBruntime. It can be any of these. GL

I wonder if a utility similar to nLite exists for .Net Framework. Example: strip off any web related components. I don't want to use .Net to serve webs. Accessibility... Any program/method/batch script? GL

Why don't you use 956807, it's newer version. Yeah, I know, it's not 100% the same, gdiplus.dll goes into WinSxS and many versions can coexist, but still... Do you need this exact update? Due to WinSxS this is tricky (and your KB article has a warning which I don't completely understand ), but I haven't had any problems with gdiplus.dll hotfixes if I make sure I integrate only one. GL
-
Get rid of any of these hotfixes if you are integrating them. They are intended for fixing specific problems and/or manual install of Service Pack. поздрав од Скопје (same city) GL

I have not taken exact measurements, and the only way to know would be to apply exact same "tweaks" and "removing components" in other parts of nLite and make two builds with only this part different. I didn't do that, but *seems* faster... Might be totally subjective. But that wasn't my point, my point was that it had never shown me any more useful info than the billboards (and I have done many nLite builds, some being broken, but even then - a dialog box appears in both cases, or the whole setup just hangs). Hi goc666, I hope you don't mind if I answer instead of Fernando, since I recently used his guide on the exact same motherboard as yours (thanks Fernando you're the coolest ). Yes, the modded driver is needed, and the link in the first post of this thread was updated recently with 8.8.0.1009, so I think you'll have no problems using it. (I used the previous version.) About driver signing - it's interesting that on another computer (laptop, ICH9M) while using the original Intel's driver - it still says unsigned. I think it isn't important, and what's the use of driver signing anyway... Don't forget to update BIOS, there were quite a few updates when I checked. Pozdrav (greetings) GL

Tried pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del? GL

On my computers, it's in WinSXS. The difference might be XP Home, or < SP2 (if you have that), but I suspect some program put it there. Now, this is a pretty critical component, so I wouldn't just delete it or move it. Maybe for starters you could install this recent Microsoft GDI+ update to have at least one working version of it, and then try again. Although I'm not very optimistic that it will solve the problem(s) on that computer... Your best bet would be to create a memory dump as Cluberti said. GL

Registry Tweak for Desktop Icons
GrofLuigi replied to lostprophet's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
In Nlite's Ini it appears as: Visual Effects-Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop-Enable It's somewhere in Tweaks, sorry I can't run Nlite right now to tell you exactly where. If you want to change it after Windows is installed, right click "My Computer" - select Properties, go to Advanced tab, Performance (button Settings) - check the option with the same wording as above. If it doesn't work, verify that Lock Web Items on Desktop is not checked. In registry, I think it is [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "ListviewShadow"=dword:00000001 GL -
Could a program "steal" your private data secretly, if so h
GrofLuigi replied to rv31's topic in Networks and the Internet
Through firewall control you let it connect only to the known site (weather site). If it is a well known program, you could google about its behavior... If you need to know more, you would have to disasemble it... GL -
Gdiplus is inside WinSXS so much more is needed than simply registering it. Also, XP had numerous updates of it. Search Microsoft KB. Where is this gdiplus.dll located? GL
-
Yep , you see : http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Chinese_Proverb/ http://www.quotationspage.com/quote/2279.html No, AFAIK the boot.ini choices "look" is not changeable. jaclaz I like this one more. Who knows, maybe it can be "slightly" applied to booke32's question below. GL
