Silently add Start menu folders and shortcuts?
ajua replied to compactman's topic in Application Installs
the winrar sfx archive is the easiest solution. just keep a folder with all your start menu entries updated and before making the unattended image compile a new sfx so everything is current. -
Internet Explorer Standalone&Customization installer tool
ajua replied to D555's topic in Application Installs
what do you mean by install pack? i dont understand exactly what are you trying to do. for plugins why dont you use the switchless installer posted on this forum? aloso if you want to install avant browser or maxthon they accept silent install switches. for a removanble drive to work with ie i dont know how. you can try to use portable version of firefox. standalone installation is used by a lot us. only nlite currently integrates it into windows. -
its great that the STPD drivers now work with a silent switch. just waiting a confirmation. maybe i can try iy tomorrow on my laptop. will post if it works without any user interaction.

Internet Explorer Standalone&Customization installer tool
ajua replied to D555's topic in Application Installs
i really really coudnt get your point at all. have you search the forums? you can install browsers plugins. import tweaks. also you can install maxthon or avant browser silently using switches. as for nLite for IE i think you are trying yo find a tool that can make a custom installer for IE like nLite does for Windows, aren't you? if so, i only know about IE admin kit from microsoft but its not worth for silent installations. -
well, thats a clever idea. i will try to make a script later. thanks.

i agree. i just mentioned that the modify/repair functionality is a saver for "average" people. personally i dont like to have any unnecessary stuff in my system so when a solution come out i will use it. but when people call me and say: "i tried to open x document but the program crashed..." well, its easy to tell them just to repair the installation. it saves me a lot of trips to install it over again.

i think that 5xx mb are not much of a space eater. and its saves people a lot of problems with the modify/repair. for me, im letting the folder as it is. windows should have a function to "completely hide" a folder/archive so it doesnt display it, not even when turning off hide hidden files. this way we can hide many things that are annoying like SYSTEMTOOLS folder of diskeeper.

Windows Live Mail Desktop Beta ... Silent, How?
ajua replied to MGadAllah's topic in Application Installs
the last version i downloaded was an msi installer wich accepts /qb /norestart switches. have you tried those? -
i checked yesterday adobe site and they are about to release a new installshield tuner for acrobat 8. i think we have to wait a few days before it comes out.
-
thanks for removing that advertised shortcut shark007. i only use your setup to deploy it to some customers wich have an ipod and cant quit using itunes no matter what i tell them
-
as far as i know i've never came across a new app that needs the new framework. but is great to hear that the switchless installer is already made. thanks.
-
it is supposed to be released via automatic updates on november 30. maybe that new release will accept the integrate switch or improve the current setup. i think the runonceex thing is broken because of security features but i think microsoft is doing a terrible job with both WMP11 and IE7 setups. BTW, have anyone tried this switchless setup using an xpcd with all windows updates installed (via svcpack.inf)?
-
you can use the Microsoft Office 2003 Resource Kit to configure all the setup options and then make a MST file to use it unattended. get it at microsoft site and use TRANSFORMS=File.msy /qb /norestart switches
-
did you only do this and worked? if so, the problem is solved now. thanks.

Photoshop CS2 Activation dialog during silent install.
ajua replied to Haynes's topic in Application Installs
my bad. i was on a hurry, i forgot to remove the serial. maybe you can try to use my directions on a clean install and not in VMware. the first time i tested on a clean install it worked so never had to try it in virtual machine. i always try new stuff on a clean install unless they are drivers (in wich case i do use VMware). the activation is not working to you maybe because its hardware/userprofile based. try it on another physical machine or do a clean install on yours. also, be sure to use activation registry and files of the same machine. hope you figure it out soon. -
[Release] WMP11 11.0.5721.5145 *FINAL QUIET INSTALL*
ajua replied to andrew84uk's topic in Application Installs
anyone knows if it can be launched from a cd drive without adding other params like in WMP10? example: wmplayer.exe /q:A /c:\"setup_wm.exe /Q /R:N /DisallowSystemRestore\" i use this paramters because of launch the setup from the DVD. there is a need for this WMP11? another question? can it be installed using /q on a machine that is online (a legit machine but without WGA installed) but not validated at this stage of the setup? thanks. -
thats right, i forgot the office settings wizard. there's no way to do that silently but at least you can use it for a backup. thanks for the reminder.

Photoshop CS2 Activation dialog during silent install.
ajua replied to Haynes's topic in Application Installs
in short, do this: 1) modify the Abcpy.ini with your serial and user name/company 2) run the setup with this: photoshop.msi /qb /norestart UNITYSELECTION=RETAIL SERIALNUMBERTEMP=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx 3) run the other setups like bridge, commonfiles, helpcenter usgin /qb 4) install the updates using the -R (with a previous installed copy of photoshop) then grab the file setup.iss in X:\Windows (use this for each update, but note that the iss file gets overwrtiten when you use -R with other setup and put it along with the update setup. then use this on your unattended setup: updatexxx.exe -s -f2"C:\psxxx.log" 5) to register it use this registry entries and import them after the install Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\ALM\B2B86000] "ActivationType"=dword:00000002 "ActivationStatus"=dword:00000001 6) then to complete the activation copy the .dat file located in %allusersprofile%\Datos de programa\Adobe Systems\Product licenses\ note that if you have other products you will have other files also, so choose the one that belongs to photoshop. thats all, you dont have to worry for the activation screen anymore. this way its get activated and registered. serial removed. Please remember to clean things up before posting. Shark007 -
maybe there is a fix in this "genuine" routines coming out when M$ releases the IE7 as an update via automatic updates. i read few days ago that this will be sometime during october 30th. i dont use it and i dont like it at all, it lacks many things that is worthless talking about them. but hey, many of us are addicts to have all stuff current. and customers like IE so why dont pleased them with the new version... hope the auto update installs fine via svcpack.inf or with the integrate switch.

have you tried to deploy the outlook.pst file via SFX archive? this way it imports all your data, but im afraid it doesnt import the mail accounts. for importing the mail accounts and message rules i have yet to find a way.
-
maybe its a dll that is causing your context menu not to work. you should consider monitoring the installation and then make a msni installer out of it. download a trial version of Installer Design Studio from www.scriptlogic.com and use it for repackaging winace. good luck.
-
have you tried to configure it properly after extraxting all the files? maybe its like winrar, you can extract all files and then import the settings in the registry all works the way you want.
