  1. Looks like a software problem, unless your heatsink isn't making proper contact. You should reformat, reinstall Windows 98 and try again.
  2. If Windows XP freezes at the logo, (even the bar freezes) you likely have an IRQ conflict.
  3. I have been noticing a slow Flash lately, too, at speedtest.net! Even when way beyond the minimum requirements, at least a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz (on another PC I have that can OC to 2.8) I often keep it at 2.4 ghz, because of the heat. The first symptom: The animations of speedtest.net are noticably slow. It did seem to been related to bad performance reports! And I did check for thermal throttling, can't actually find any reason for it to.
  4. This is because even when you have more than enough RAM, some applications (not Windows) give a not enough memory error! Project64 1.5 is known to give "FAILED TO ALLOCATE MEMORY" without a swapfile.
  5. Update: it's up now. It came up snappy!
  6. That's roughly the same as my VTel setup.
  7. Sorry about that. Anyways, LOL.
  8. That appears to be a virus or malware! Because I can use Windows for at least 24 hours! And if you can't, you probably have malware or a hardware problem!
  9. That appears to be a virus or malware!
  10. You may have a hardware problem. The processor frequency and Vcore or the RAM settings being wrong or a CPU or motherboard failure or PSU failure can cause something at least similar to this: Where it always crashes in normal mode, but can use it in safe mode.
  11. The error message about an invalid parameter often is a warning sign of the software requiring Windows Installer 3x and Windows Installer 3x isn't installed. It often means that Windows Installer 2 isn't enough. I saw that error message before, because I forgot to install Windows Installer 3x before running a hotfix installation.
  12. It sounds like the HDD is having difficulty with reading a sector. Your symptom is a BAD sign!
  13. Sounds like the video driver settings or the video driver itself is corrupted. Especially if you get a BSOD on launch.
  14. Your processor fan likely is clogged up with dust!
  15. I dunno, because the BSODs you're talking about, except for the blank ones, sound like when the processor OC isn't stable, but Orthos and 3D Mark passed!
  16. There is a bug that the swap file being bigger than 768 MB causes that error! Retarded, if you ask me! Even with less RAM, (at 512 MB) when I setted the swap file to bigger than 768 MB, I gotten that error message or similar and thus was forced to go to safe mode and make the swap file smaller!
  17. Are you overclocking the video card with CoolBits? If you are, that's the cause. With my GeForce 4 Ti, that only occurs if I overclock it with CoolBits.
  18. I know that already, but I'm afraid that because the HDD is SATA, Windows XP Setup will say that it failed to detect any HDD on the PC, thus it acts as if the BIOS ignored the HDDs!
  19. Isn't that for post-installation only?
  20. Bingo. That's why I'm here! It's onboard. In fact, it came with a SATA HDD.
  21. Today is majorly better:
  22. Anyone know if I just could reformat and reinstall Windows XP without it acting like the BIOS reported none?
  23. Sounds like a hardware problem. Likely not enough cooling.
  24. That message or similar has been introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2. If you download with Internet Explorer, you must right click on the file that was downloaded and click "Unblock". (or similar)
