  1. VTel, which is based in Springfield, Vermont. http://vermontel.net
  2. All of a sudden my ADSL bandwidth is at only 1 Mb when I'm normally at 4 Mb or higher! Still the same even after I resetted the modem, reformatted and reinstalled Windows! But my latency is still good! Also, the ISP didn't say anything about capping me!
  3. I agree! I had broadband for at least 4 months, back on May 17, I finally was able to say goodbye to POTS!
  4. That's upgrading the BIOS to a different version, *not* changing the configuration.
  5. After you get another power supply, you may still be required to reformat and reinstall Windows, because of the driver data being corrupted or not for your hardware. Or I could just restore from a disk image that I had made two months ago. Much less painful. Did you change the video card to one with a different GPU? If you did, then you may be required to reinstall the Microsoft way. Sorry.
  6. That's correct.
  7. Yeah, I knew that already and if it was going for 24 hours, you're good to go.
  8. Sounds like Windows Vista is blocking the driver install and the installer isn't checking to see if it's actually installed or not. Or it's erroring silently and thus, must look for a log generated by the installer.
  9. Have you checked your PC hardware to make sure? A messed up CD or DVD drive can cause this. The same with insufficient cooling.
  10. That's for preventing a BIOS flash. Also, 133 Mhz is the correct FSB for an Athlon XP 2000+ Unless you have one of those newer Athlon XP chips that are rebadged as "Sempron". In that case, 166 Mhz probably is the correct FSB.
  11. I never heard of that with older motherboards. That sounds like because of the HDD being SATA. If it's still PATA, it should be fine.
  12. After you get another power supply, you may still be required to reformat and reinstall Windows, because of the driver data being corrupted or not for your hardware.
  13. That's not a Windows 95 limitation, that's a FAT32 limitation and you cannot use NTFS, thus, you're SOL.
  14. hi, thx for your help, can u tell me what services are linked to the use of internet ? is that possible to get that error by disabling services ? if yes can u tell me what services are causing this ? thank in advance The tray icon looked like the usual "A network cable is unplugged" or similar. Make sure that the ethernet cable is in all the way.
  15. Not free=A waste! For the same price, I possibly can drop in a faster used processor!
  16. That's a shame! Because my file system appears to be fine after running JKDefrag 3.26 and the author told me that the beginning of the HDD is at the bottom. Also, no error messages from Windows 2000 about corruption, unlike Ultra Defrag, which you need to avoid like the plague! Ultra Defrag, on the other hand, appears to be using a buggy IO driver and yes, Ultra Defrag does appear to make Windows 2000 peed!
  17. Yes. When did you start having problems with JKDefrag? I didn't see a bigger amount of problems being reported until after 3.16.
  18. SP2 is supposed to replace all updates, thus should be fine if you uninstall the pre-SP1 hotfixes. In the past, I have been able to install SP2 without SP1.
  19. Please don't send the video card back until you try 3DMark! I suggest that you at least try 3D Mark 2001SE, if you can't use 3D Mark 2003 or later. If 3D Mark passes, the video card probably isn't faulty! If the video card is faulty, 3D Mark shall fail pronto! If your video card is faulty, 3D Mark usually fails with video corruption or a hard lock. Sometimes, a BSOD or 3D Mark terminates with an error message from 3D Mark during a test.
  20. Please try this one: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en It appears that the regular package is broken.
  21. "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" is often caused by an unstable processor overclock. It can be caused by not having enough Vcore. You need to get Prime95 to confirm that your Core 2 Duo is stable.
  22. Are you talking about JKDefrag? If you are, the problem seems to have started after 3.16, when analysis code had a big change.
  23. First off, that sounds like Windows Update just F-ing up! It sounds like Windows Update discovered a newer version of Internet Explorer and thus attempted to install it!
  24. "ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR" likely means hardware issues. I suggest that you get Memtest86 and Prime95.
