  1. Pentium 4 supports it, yet: http://www.neowin.net/staff/creamhackered/...082/sysprop.jpg
  2. Yes, but it involves lots of manual labor with Reshacker .
  3. Even back when they used the NetBurst architecture ?
  4. The Xeon you're selling is based off of the Netburst architecture (I think) and shares many similarities with the P4. If I were you, I'd ask for clarification as to what's he's inquiring about.
  5. That can't be it, because it says I have PAE enabled as well, but I've turned off my PF, so the total amount of virtual memory in my system is still 2GB, which shouldn't require PAE.
  6. I don't think PAE is enabled, because my System Idle Process is at 28KB as well. Might just be a peculiarity of SP2, or that I have DEP enabled as well . One (risky) way to check is to remove the PAE kernel files (ntkrnlpa.exe and ntkrnlpamp.exe) and if your system still boots, then you don't have it enabled. If it doesn't...well you can't hold me liable for any damages .
  7. Stupid question of the day, but why are there monthly updates to DirectX and do they benefit desktop users?
  8. Well you're crazy if you went with Intel . And even crazier to have a custom paint job. I'd be more than satisfied just to have this case: http://www.coolerguys.com/840556060376.html I really like the idea of selling your current hardware for more upgrades though, since computer hardware changes so fast that a 10 grand machine five years ago might only cost $500 nowadays . And yes, this is one $@%^ing expensive hobby .
  9. I try to allocate at least 512MB of RAM to my VM's at all times. If I had only waited a few more months, I could've gotten the 4GB of RAM and dual Woodcrest processors for the same amount of money . Guess patience is a virtue. And I'm surprised so many people spend $5000+ on computers...I was expecting that to group to be the smallest .
  10. Did you update to the latest drivers?
  11. Double post! Somebody ban him! Fiji isn't Vista R2. The R2 releases are reserved for servers, and only add new features, so as to keep the compatibility level the same. Rather, Fiji is a small, interim update to keep the consumers happy while they work on a larger project. And with the amount of delay that Vista has caused, I wouldn't trust the roadmaps much.
  12. Spent at least $2000 on my computer, including the monitor. The worst feeling after you wasted all that money is when you start wondering if it was really worth it. I remember I used to be a hard-core gamer who always lagged with his old FX5200 computer, so I decided to stick in a 7900GT in my new box. Now I'm really doubting that decision, since I don't play games much anymore, and that $300 could've been spent to upgrade to 4GB of RAM (would be nice to run 7 virtual machines at once ).
  13. Umm...unless I'm mistaken, aren't those topics all the same ?
  14. It's not really anything new. Just get the Opteron 200 series and you're on a 4x4 platform .
  15. Does anyone have any experience with the NT native API?
  16. I'm sure his comprehension level is fine...Just try to stop flame-baiting people: http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=33081
  17. Lol if it was CnQ, why would he want to disable it? Especially on a laptop. Turning it off will cause your processor to kill your battery life even faster. Just monitor your clock speed at peak usage and if it doesn't jump to 1.8GHz, then start worrying.

  20. AOL, ~56 kbs down (20kbs average), 3kbs up $79.99 a month
  21. It's not any hardware of his. The Acoustic Echo Canceller is one of the core audio devices that causes lots of problems when not installed. Since it comes with the OS, the driver should be signed, so I dunno what's wrong there. Just make sure you don't cancel the installation of that driver.
  22. Usually when the voltage is that high, and you didn't set it that high, it's more likely than not that your BIOS is reporting it incorrectly. I know that my BIOS reports the voltage at 2.6V, but my amazing air-cooling still manages to keep the temperatures to 30C somehow .
  23. And I have no doubts that tomerbd is the author of this software who signed up on the forums just to advertise it.
  24. The reason why it keeps restarting is because you have the option on for automatic reboot upon BSOD. I think there's an option to disable auto-restart from the F8 menu.
  25. I don't think renaming works. Doesn't GMail check the header and if it starts with MZ (EXE Header), then it's refused.
