  1. Weird issues discovered: FAILURE: KB934907 = **re-attempt succesful ** KB928570 = KB933242 =**re-attempt not succesful though when direct re-launched no error appears. (peimg fails: direct after that recall "peimg /install=* d:\vmount" hotfix gets installed without error** Are we talking about a peimg bug ?
  2. You could pack the windowsXP cd into install.wim and use WinPE (boot.wim) to call windows XP setup in PE-environment: this way you can get around TEXT-setup menu.

  4. I suppose that error occured when slipstreaming fixes in German install.wim? Funny enough english only install.wim file seems not to have these problems...
  5. Guys, anyone around who slipstreamed 200+ updates without error ?
  6. Dear MSFNusers, Recently I gathered about 350 Vista Updates, hunting for the most up2date vista edition . Ok, stuff collected and extracted I took my folder with all CABfiles and integration tools together. Not knowing just starting an ordinary slipstream job. However critical slipstream failures are the result. As well with peimg.exe or pkgmgr.exe method. Both fail on several updates (between 10-20). PEIMG.exe quits at failure 1# PKGMGR.exe continues at failure. Trouble.. slipstream process works fine on install.wim english only. slipstream process fails on install.wim dutch only or dutch+english. I dubbelchecked all updates are language-neutral. Are there anymore people with these problems ? Please note that I collected besides windows critical updates many other updates from several websites. (large number 350+). EDIT: FAILURE: KB941649 = **re-launch peimg >succesful ** KB941020 = **re-launch peimg >succesful ** KB934907 = **re-launch peimg >succesful ** KB928570 = KB933242 = **re-launch peimg >succesful** HJW
  7. stop SCREAMING before asking an answer
  8. This is possible sure, but I would recommend you to check out WPI (windows post installation wizard) wpiw.net I have my DVD setup as follows: XP Pro Standard XP Pro Unattended but XP Pro Unattended & Office wouldnt be hard to setup, just create an additional bootfolder and edit winnt.sif. HJW
  9. Install activeX control on your machine, get legitcheckcontroll.dll from your local system32 directory, place it in your install.wim and add somewhere a register command regsvr32 /S %systemroot%\system32\legitcheckcontrol.dll. Or make a SFX with winrar - works too. Windows Update Files : find Windows-Update-Agent-x86.exe run a install somewhere WPI,install.wim,systemcomplete.cmd http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=43264 HJW
  10. Hi all, I know this has been here before on the boards, the discussion about the weird issue between wpi and office07. It seems while office07 is applying updates, wpi gets a little of track and gives an error. I am curious what update causes this error with wpi. Since I know there are people who dont have this issue I checked the differences between a working wpi+office and a not working wpi+office. The difference appears to be in the updates folder of your office07 directory. The following updates could cause this issue: I am running several tests now to determine which one is it EDIT: the weirdo error with wpi seems nothing to do with updates located in the update folder. The cause is somewhere between the components you selected to install. Do you run a default installation no error, do you force to install all components and sub-components > error. At least that's on my configuration the case. Can somebody confirm this? Keep yu updated Edit2: After 10+ Office installations tonight. I narrowed it down and know now the possible causes of this confict with WPI. Installing MS Powerpoint or MS Excel with All components FORCED will result in conflict. HJW
  11. OOBE enabled ?? Out Of Box Experience, I mean the user account create screen etc.. When you dont have that automated in your xml, your custom theme entry in your xml wont work either.
  12. Ok, fair enough, however what do you think of a custom background/splash for behind the installer (@desktopwidth en @desktopheight)?
  13. Download and install WAIK Tools, example files and help information you will find there.
  14. Yeah should be right order: Tip: Copy HOME/PRO to HDD slipstreem ServicePack2 and make a " clean " backup of the i386 directories. That will save you step 1,2 when integrating updatepack of next month Same with Multiboot folders, you should only create them once Try to make most steps automated with scripts or commandline (batch files) that will save you time too. Between 7 and 8 you can add a custom shell pack like XPize HJW
  15. Thanks man ! for this little guide, I ll defenitely try this one HJW
  16. Here is what you should try: Place a CMD file with your WPIlaunch command in your startmenu \ all programs \ run And you are done don't forget to delete the cmd file upon completion, otherwise you will end up running WPI every login to desktop again HJW
  17. Hi Kel, I experience exact the same issues as descriped in the three pages of this topic. The moment I get the error WPI has just run an admin installation of Office2007. When Office Setup gets to 'installing updates...' it goes wrong. WPI install console gets f$**$. Nevertheless when Office Installation has completed WPI continues with all other programs. I checked the log file: no supicious entries everything is normal (0). HJW
  18. Best Tonycrew, You tried to do this too fast, did you read your command carefully? don't do it too quick because it is not QUICKBOOT but QuietBoot . No problem , just wanna tell you that. Tip: try all your cmd commands first in commandprompt to check if they're working so you can save a lot of time (creating an iso and running a virtual installation test) HJW
  19. Dont think you can fix that, had the issue a while ago by myself. Just type your password right the first time
  20. Hi, Some info that might help you further Downloaded gadgets can be found here: %userprofile%AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets\* Your current Gadget configuration can be found here: %userprofile%AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Settings.ini For your unattended project: You can place gadgets in (will be available for all users): install.wim > program files\windows sidebar\shared gadgets\ To get your custom settings you can use your autounattend.xml or you can make a SFX of your settings.ini. I use a SFX file with the following parameters: WAIK Help file GR HJW
  21. no s***, WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe is only a update for your windowsupdate engine. To migrate/integrate windowsupdate settings like receiving updates for windows and other microsoft product or hiding languagepacks you should copy softwaredistribution into your install.wim image as I said before And hell yeah - it works. you tried? yu'd Good luck HJW
