Azagahl, let me know if you decide to do anything w/your prgm, as I would be very interested in anything that fast on Dialup[all I can get in boonies]. Sounds like a surefire winner

Hmm, just a question, but could AM deadlink be used[ala cut/paste] ? or is CIP a better prgm for this, have a nother older puter that am setting up barebones with 98se + USP only that could possibly be used for this while sleeping, am on dialup so obviously would take many nites of peaceful slumber

I totally agree Nitebat, think we're getting far off track, there are still some basic issues that need addressing[2gb ram & 137gb hdd] rather than filling USP with a bunch of bloat. All prgms people want to add , they can add them on their own. There's still MDGx's fine 98se2ME and Tihiy's really nice Revolutions for those that want more! We're not looking to come out with a new OS, just bring a good prgm into modern computing levels.

Gape, I think all these people are looking for something ala MS, you know, like an extras folder or something . Maybe you should just come out with "Gape's 98se revisited" or some such

I'm kinda dumb about some things, would MDAC be used in networking? as I plan to network mine & wifes puters for file & print sharing using netbui protocol. Each puter has own telephone line as I can only get dial-up[to far out in country] TFAI

I'd like to see some serious work put into some of OS/hardware limits we're bumping against, like getting 98se to accept 2gb of ram, 137gb hdd probs and such. I think this would help move 98se more into todays technology Gape & all involved, many, many thanks for the improvements in the OS you people have sweated over PS: I use notepad+, been for long time and know how to change out, so no prob to me which you use

I agree with Gape on this, more programmers = less probs because they look at it from diff angle & can see possibilities & prob. Tihiy keep it up your doin great Petr you too. I'm using Tihiy's 891711 and have no prob with it. I'm not a programmer, just an end user trying to learn something to better my puter, I understand hardware better than software

Actually have 2 ASUS A7V400-MX, 1 is in server for home lan, w/ latest VIA 4in1. The server is what I'm worried about, has 2 40gbs now, was going to upgrade to 2 200gb but maybe I should stick w/ 120gb as it holds all mine & wifes backups

Did you fix something in DUN, it's working better that it ever has, faster. If not it must be a byproduct of other fixes/updates in 2rc3

I can't address all, but KB891711 has been found to have probs. It causes BSODs on alot of puters and is flawed, even MS acknowledges there are probs with it.

Pramthapml[Do you have a shorter nickname], the reason sales are so high for XP, have you tried to buy a puter lately that doesn't come w/XP installed? You can slant statisics to show just about anything you want them to, they very seldom show the real story, if at all. you need to do some research into how reliable these studies[on any subject] actually are! Thats the real world.

HeHe, I goofed in original post, it should have said NUSB 2.1 instead of usb 2.0, sorry! So install 98se, then NUSB 2.1, then mobo drivers[if needed]

Am setting up new Hdd, would I install USB 2.0 right after install of 98se, before install of Mobo drivers, or Mobo drivers first[see sig for specs] TIAFAI
