  1. Apparently the wuaueng.dll was not replaced properly. Copy the patched file to C:\Windows\system32\dllcache and to C:\Windows\system32. Of course, stop the Automatic Update Service beforehand.
  2. Add http://update.microsoft.com to the list of trusted sites. Then it should work.
  3. I have the site hosted on IIS 7.0 and this is all I get when I go to the site:
  4. I would like to try hosting the files on IIS. But how can I download files from Wayback Machine?
  5. So I have tested it to see if it works without the 4 updates, but unfortunately I keep getting 0x80072F78. I also tried the firewall trick, but it didn't work. These updates seem to be required. I suspect it is related to the Sha2 certificate, because version 1.3 of ProxhttpsProxy works without these updates and without IE8. Probably because of the Sha1 certificate.
  6. @AstroSkipper Your contribution is excellent. However, I still have one request for you. I would like to ask you to mention me in step 4,5,6,7 and in step 8, as it was a hard work for me to figure out especially the 4 updates. You can check here: And here: And that was my first post:
  7. This is a bit off-topic but where did you get this Windows Vista theme? Btw. It looks really nice.
  8. Yes, exactly. It is correctly activated. So we can rule that out as a source of error.
  9. That is correct. I asked him to deactivate the proxy so that I can see if Tls 1.2 is correctly activated.
  10. Deactivate the proxy in the internet options and go to this page and send a screenshot: https://clienttest.ssllabs.com:8443/ssltest/viewMyClient.html
  11. I have read through the post. It would certainly be possible somehow, but it will probably require a lot of work.
  12. OK. Unfortunately, I'm not a programmer who can do that. Would it work if we take the file from Vista?
  13. I can understand it. It's really sad what just happens. But back to the topic. I edited my post and uploaded the file somewhere else. The problem with the original version is that in the config.ini the line "RearPort" says 8080 and not 8081. That's why it didn't work.
  14. In your description you have the original download link from ProxhttpsProxy v1.3. But this does not work immediately. I've provided a version I edited here that works out of the box with WU: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ftq6dnsccuq54p4/ProxHTTPSProxyMII_1.3a.zip/file Cr. of course to @whenever on Tuopf. If you want, you can replace the link with mine.
  15. Hi there, Is it possible to add ECDHE ciphers? To access the Windows Update website without ProxhttpsProxy. I read that you can update the ciphers in the registry editor, or am I wrong? I found these entries: The Windows Update website requires these ciphers:
  16. Yes that's right. It must read KB942288-V3 NOT KB9428-V3. Have you already checked if Tls 1.2 is present in the internet options?
  17. Hi there, My name is Tobias and I come from Germany. I've been a member of MSFN since January 7th. I mainly deal with the with the Windows Update website in Xp and 2000 (by the way, it works again) and with Windows Update in general. I'm happy I found this forum and hopefully it stays online for a while longer. Have a nice day
  18. First of all: I don't mean to belittle or offend anyone but I think it's a common problem. I think it's a bit of a shame, because I'm actually always willing to help someone if they have problems with WU, as you already know. But without detailed information there is no reasonable solution either, so I can understand you well and I totally agree. Kind regards
  19. Add the three pages to the Trusted Sites in IE and set the Security Level to high: http://update.microsoft.com http://www.update.microsoft.com and https://www.update.microsoft.com If the Security Level is not available, click on reset first.
