Decided to rewatch X-Files again, when I'm back from holidays. Any X-files fans out here?

"Please note that 2 CPU threads and at least 768 MB of RAM is recommended." https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases/tag/v121

WARNING, don't use that script! I'll start with saying it deletes major European languages, just a small part of the script: !da.pak -xr!de.pak -xr!el.pak -xr!en-GB.pak !nl.pak . As you see, it deletes Danish, German, Greek, English, Dutch, not to mention you post links to a dubious Russian site. In scripting language "!" means delete, omit.

Supermium ==> Supremium Someone, suggest to win32. I'm not gonna charge for this name.
-
Thanks, but I think it's not that script win32 wrote about, it looks like a custom made one.
-
The absence of EMI shields in such adaptors scares me.
-
I think you missed my reply, even if we leave aside the cookkie subject, this is still not portable, especially with the need of having files in the system32 folder.
-
That's right, but it's soon to be almost a half year old thread, so looks like win32 has made his choice with the today's release.
-
Trust me, I'm not. Let me explain. I've been waiting for this browser, I had discussions with win32 in the past, I thought we shared common way of seeing things, I mean heavily privacy oriented browser and what not, but seeing the project follows the other way around, with such things like google sync, it's simply not the road for me. I want to see full portability and as less fingerprinting as possible.
-
Obviously this browser will need a specially written starter app. I wanted to consider writing my own launcher, but seeing the browser is not portable (thanks to @NotHereToPlayGames), I'll hold my horses for now.
-
Yes, thanks for the investigation! So it's by no means portable by anyone's standards.
-
Thanks, I read that, but I still don't understand, what does "portable distribution" mean? What other ways of "distribution" there may be?
-
Is this legal to circumvent the installation of a paid product?
-
I'm sorry, I have no way of knowing, though it's safe to assume it's still not, since the word is quoted. I'm more curious about the "script the browser needs to run". The "portable" distribution will have a launch script with these flags enabled as well as a data directory in the same directory as the executable.
-
"-In particular, the flags #disable-encryption and #disable-machine-id now make Supermium user data portable if enabled."

From what is written, 5 is without VAT, with VAT you'd need to add 20% (for France). I don't know about the US VAT, but they will also have to add the conversion rates from USD to Euro and Euro is obviously more expensive. But yeah, it's not much, agree.
-
They say you need to purchase Supermium Plus Package subscription for €5 / month (plus VAT) first, then they claim it works. Because "Supermium Portable-Ready and XP Installer" is included there. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/issues/178#issuecomment-1913189181

Building Lua from source on Windows, very detailed instructions on Wiki. http://lua-users.org/wiki/BuildingLuaInWindowsForNewbies

The oldest version in the repository goes as far as May, 1994. One of the most important things, it's still being actively supported and developed, even as of today! https://www.lua.org/ftp/

9x? LUA, of course! Absolutely no question. The simplest tool for starting learning from scratch. "Lua is a powerful and fast programming language that is easy to learn and use and to embed into your application. Lua is designed to be a lightweight embeddable scripting language. It is used for all sorts of applications, from games to web applications and image processing." https://www.lua.org/start.html

This is Nvidia Bitsream, but DXVA checker was always glitchy, esp. on older OS, so it doesn't show it to you. Probably because it runs on unsupported Framework 4.0 with the suggested change in the ini file. 9947ec6f-689b-11dc-a320-0019dbbc4184

Where do you see "a foreign legion or Lebanese green beret (LAF) wannabes" on this website? For those who never heard before- LAF is Lebanese Armed Forces https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebanese_Armed_Forces. If this is some sort of your anti-semitic jokes/trolling, stop. People will help only those who behave properly and respectfully. So far, you didn't even thank me for pointing you out to the right direction regarding Bluray/DVD playback, for example.

I'm giving out the most common errors from the several of my systems. fltmgr.sys error accompanied by "0000008e, parameter1 c0000005" = faulty RAM (maybe not enough power supplied, if that RAM is overclocked, bad batch of chips, low binned, like the "famous" Taiwanese Kingston, for example.) Fix - replace RAM, try to bump up the voltage in the BIOS (add a small increase, sometimes it's enough).
