  1. No, you only said this: "I use SP2 for internet PC and SP1 for gaming . Never installed any updates and still alive."
  2. I would use SP1 and actually uninstall SP2 and all other updates that I have installed, it's just that I cannot give up on using extended kernel. I need it.
  3. @Dixel Is Vista your main OS for stuff like document creation?
  4. Maybe SP1 is faster than SP2 for you as lesser disk space is occupied.
  5. Some speedup was done by SP2, I guess ( I never really used Vista RTM or SP1 properly, only a little, that too on a VM). SP1 made stuff very fast compared to RTM but I think SP2 improved it further. But that's just my opinion.
  6. I don't game and have never done so at all, so don't ask about gaming experience. As for video and sound quality, it's just WOW on Vista!!
  7. Thanks @win32, now I can run it! But I notice that in html5test, Chrome 75 and below scored approx. 509 points whereas newer versions score 472 points. Why is this?
  8. Hello all, I'm experiencing an error when trying to open Chrome Portable (87.0.4280.66) even though I've installed the updated version of extended kernel. How to solve? Thanks in advance
  9. Yes, agreed. But I was talking about alternatives to Windows 10. No denying that with a smart Brain.exe and regular scans using Malwarebytes, we can prevent Windows 7 virus or malware attacks, but since Vista is a lot more obscure than Win7, it is very unlikely that Vista will be targeted. I want to make this statement clear.
  10. No, check the official website for support info and you will see that it supports only Win8+.
  11. I wanted to addon. Regarding the ui, Windows Vista has a beautiful UI whereas Windows 10....... has a Lol-style UI (See my signature). Windows 10 always keeps spying on you while Vista has no telemetry. While Windows 7 may seem like the perfect Windows 10 alternative, seeing that it is still used in about 15% of worldwide PC's makes us consider the risks of using it as it is a vulnerable target for malware and hackers. So I chose Vista as it is used by only about 0.3% of PC's worldwide and is secure through obscurity. Windows 8 ( with a little UI tweaks) could also be an alternative if you can't install and use Vista.
  12. Most of the issues were fixed by SP1 but SP2 addressed the remaining issues.
  13. Yeah, Windows 10 is so bad that I cannot describe my experience in sufficient number of words. I actually wonder what Vista haters think of Windows 10. People called Vista bloated when Windows 10 is 1000x more bloated than any Windows version People called Vista unstable and slow when in reality, Windows 10 runs S L U G G I S H L Y even on systems as powerful as yours, just like Windows ME (Memory Eater) and when those people actually ran Vista on slow XP systems with only 256-512 megs of RAM! True, Vista had its issues such as an improper WGA, but yeah, everything was fixed by April 2009 when SP2 came out. What will M$ do to fix Windows 10? Update: Revisited Windows ME and found out that on a proper system with decent specs and all correct drivers installed, it ran buttery smooth (more like Vista on capable enough hardware). Most of the issues in WinME seemed to be hardware related (again like Vista RTM).
  14. Malwarebytes is not any typical AV, it's a antimalware program (it scans the computer mode deeply than typical AV's).
  15. Add Kingston SSD Manager to Windows 8+ only software list. I found that the installer will open and run just fine on Windows Vista and 7 until the last phase of installation, when it says that it is installing VC redistributables. It stops there and does not finish the setup completely.
  16. Yeah, even I don't use any AV and have only Malwarebytes installed to scan for malware and viruses. Also, yeah, the best antivirus is our very own Brain.exe and with smart prevention, we can avoid painful cures . I was just adding on to what you said
  17. No, Intel HD 4000 has drivers that work flawlessly for most other MSFN users who run Vista on Ivy Bridge. Drivers have been shared by @WinClient5270 over at this thread:
  18. Oh ok... Have you ever run Windows 10 on this machine and if you did, was it a nightmare?
  19. Have you tried to install Vista, or does it not work? I know almost nothing about AMD or Nvidia hardware support for Vista cuz I am an Intel guy (I don't even build computers lol), so I asked
  20. I am guessing this is a 2018/19 machine, is it correct?
  21. I got my Dell latitude e5420 last month only for installing and using Vista on it. It's my main daily driver now
  22. If you want an antivirus with MB as a supplement, the Clamwin AV is for you
  23. I wonder why Vista runs blazing fast on my old but trusty Pentium D desktop while Windows 7 runs..... S L U G G I S H L Y when people were raving that 7 ate up less RAM than Vista. Any idea?
