  1. Hello, I use an old version of autoruns to manage my startup applications. It's version 12.03 from 2014. It works great from Windows XP to Windows 10. Occasionally it crashes on start. But all you have to do is try again and it works. It's a very powerful tool as it lets you delete services as well if you want to get extreme. Just run it as administrator. https://www.filehorse.com/download-autoruns/17787/ You can check if your issue happens with autoruns as well. I didn't test because I use XP 64 so it's different. I never set up post 2009 thing since I don't think it's compatible.
  2. I use Linux as well and one time I formatted a usb drive on Linux and for some reason it wouldn't work on a windows system even though it was ntfs. To fix it I had format it again. You can use HP USB format tool. It's very useful. https://hp-usb-disk-storage-format-tool.en.softonic.com/download
  3. I think maybe it could be Microsoft's fault. For example Office 2007 can't download anything. No templates online. Maybe Microsoft has something that checks office version and if it's too old by their opinion then you're not allowed to download.
  4. It seems it requires Service Pack 2 to run. You can read the requirements here: https://kb.iu.edu/d/aupn I don't think you can bypass it. There were many changes between SP1 and SP2. Maybe you should try office 2003 instead and install the compatibility pack so you can at least read and edit .docx files in 2003.
  5. There's a tutorial that allegedly lets you run 16-bit apps on 64- bit. I don't know if it works but there are some comments below that say it does.
  6. XP is a great OS. Specially the 64-bit version. But recently I realized something. My motherboard got busted. And in my search for motherboards for am3+ socket I don't know why but I was still expecting to find a new one in box at a good price. So finding the the hardware that supports it is the most difficult part. I guess you can run it virtually if you really want to but it's not the same.
  7. Well I have used mostly roytam browser builds. From what I have seen, browsing works fine on Newmoon/Serpent. I get no slowdowns. But Youtube is slower for some reason. Iceape works faster for me on Youtube. There are others that say those 360 chrome browsers are much better. I didn't have to try it yet because the sites I visit usually work fine on Serpent. Even my bank website works fine. I have also tried Mypal68 and it works great.
  8. Office 2010 installs fine on XP 64 if you use compatibility mode to XP 32 bit. Works fine too. I'm pretty sure most people that want to use XP know they can't use the latest software. Software compatibility is same as XP 32 bit except it can't run 16-bit software. It has been my main OS since 2017. I use it to play compatible games like the first 3 Batman Arkham games, watch blurays and youtube. Of course Office 2010 or OpenOffice works fine so you can do some work on it. In case of hardware with printers you're out of luck. But many motherboards up to 2014 had XP 64 bit drivers. My Gigabyte motherboard from 2014 had all the drivers for it.
  9. Or you could use XP 64 and use all the ram. XP 64 is a really good OS. Rock stable and fast.
  10. I would like to thank the roytam for his work. He has made XP 64 very usable for me. I have a question though. Which is the best browser build? There are many different builds and not much explanation to what is their purpose. For example there's Newmoon 28, Newmoon 27, Serpent, Iceape. I'm going to list my specs and my own experience with some of them. My specs: OS: Windows XP 64 SP2 Motherboard Gigabyte 970-DS3P Ver 2 CPU: AMD FX 8320e Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz Dual Channel Video: Ati 4850 512MB The ones I tested are Newmoon 28 64 bit, Serpent 64 bit and Iceape. Newmoon and Serpent are very similar and work very well. But for some reason I get lags when playing a Youtube video. Videos normally play fine on other sites even at 1080p. But Youtube hangs when starting a video and switching to fullscreen. The problem only happens in Youtube. Now Iceape doesn't have that problem. Youtube loads lighting fast. Now the question is this. What are the differences between all the builds? What is the difference between Iceape and Seamonkey ?
  11. Videos play fine under XP64 for me using both newmoon or serpent. Most sites play videos fine except bitchute.
  12. Thanks for this. I will try it. The problem with Newmoon and Serpent is that some sites it says the video isn't found. And sometimes the video plays but with slow distorted audio. Youtube works great. I think the problem started about a month ago. I'm not sure if I'm installing Lav correctly. Is it just throwing the file in Newmoon's installation folder ?
  13. Hi there, First I'd like to thank you for keeping XP alive with these browsers. I was using Seamonkey before but when most video sites switched to html5 I couldn't play any videos except youtube. Then I searched and found your browsers. For quite a while I was able to play html5 videos from most websites. But since about a month ago it lost compatibility. Do I have to reinstall Lav ?
