How many of you have used illegal NO-CD cracks to play your legally owned games without running the risks of running your game discs? I imagine theres a few of you, well earlier on today I came across a programme which aims to resolve those issues legally, and well, it does a bloody good job of it. Game Jackal basically reads information from the discs of the games you own (only original games will work here), and stores it in small profiles on your computer, these profiles I imagine store data relating to the disc and to the .exe of that game. You launch these profiles like you would normally use your games and voila, you'll never need a disc for that game again. I legally own GTA: San Andreas, but my disc has a dangerous crack going right through the middle of the disc, almost to the outside of it. Remarkably the disc still works but I refuse to use it, and avoid using it when possible to avoid it snapping completely whilst spinning in my drive. Because of this I had to resort to using a no disc crack to play the game. With the 1.01 patch however, I couldn't upgrade to that because there were no available cracks for it! I tried this out earlier (theres a 7 day trial of it), it was simply a matter of using a wizard to create a profile, it quickly takes a small chunk of data from your original disc and then youre done. I created my profile and updated San Andreas using the patch. Lone behold, I was able to load the game up with no problem whatsoever, my game is patched and fully working. The programme is brilliant in the fact that its a genuine step forward towards illegal measures of playing games without the use of discs. The profiles themselves are brilliant in the fact that every single one is unique, each profile created has embedded registration details relative to that particular user, so they can't be shared online between pirates. If you do resort to using no-disc cracks despite legally owning games, I highly recommend this. The website is currently offering this at a special price of $9 (£7) too, so please, snap it up while you can, it is worth it.

Hmm... mental images of this Paul Thurrot being humped in one end by Bill Gates while having dollar notes shoved in the other...
-
To be fair I think the torrent for this file should actually be attached to these forums. They're only small files and that means they'll be totally accessible.
-
Must be a windows issue for sure, my cpu is a 1.8ghz CELERON ffs and it works fine on there lol, you're definitely within working specs for the game to work and work good :\ Does the games own readme have nothing that could maybe help you?
-
Wow, very nice indeed! Is that with Force DirectX7 enabled or disabled?
-
Heh, you're right there, but I had to show that shot off, I believe the smoke effects here are very good indeed and are looking alot better than what most other games push out. As for my card, it is an extremely embarrasing FX5200 running on a PCI port Everything about my rig sucks but stuff that, I'll keep pushing it for a while lol, and I intend to get a couple more new games working before I begin buying for my new gaming system Say, if anyone can get the demo working at full/playable speeds with the DX9 visuals enabled, please show us your shots heh, I'd love to see them
-
Well, I've been waiting for this game a long time now, and it seems ironic that Activision release the demo for it on the day of the release for DoD:Source Well anyway, for ages now I've looked at the shots and videos for this and though: Crap, there is no way in hell I'm running this on my computer. Needless to say though I've downloaded the demo from GamersHell, and whoa... I'm impressed! For all of you, me included, with lower end rigs who were able to run CoD1, don't worry, there is a LOVELY feature in the graphics options called 'Force DirectX7 Only', now while you are losing alot of the very nice new visual effects in there, this greatly improves the performance of the game, and well I still think it looks better than CoD1 so I still win heh. For those with meaty, and I mean meaty systems lol, you will love the effects this throws at you. The demo as a whole is short but very sweet, and shows just how intense alot of the battles in this game are going to be. Take a look at the screenies I've took to see I also enabled draw fps just you can see how it ran on my rig lol, despite what those numbers in the shots show, the demo was actually completely playable, and for the most part, ran very well at a steady 30fps

LMAO, then it'd be awesome when your man comes in saying 'and people ask me if i love my job'

Omega drivers are definitely worth looking into, but again, stick with the one based on the official version that works for you. Omega drivers are exactly the same in the officials, the only difference being they come pre-tweaked to allow you to change settings normally restricted by the officials, or that they can be downloaded and installed to affect speed or quality of your visuals more. Since these are still based on official drivers (unsupported by Nvidia of course), any issues that carry over from those will still be present in the Omegas as I've found out with my issue explained above. By all means though, Omega drivers can be useful
-
I also have the same card, and for a long time now I have had my own troubles with the newer drivers, my problems being contrast issues in video playback (videos would appear way too bright), or issues with HL1 based games playing at very poor framerates. My solution to this was to revert back to an older driver and stick with it, although ironically enough I use the 61.77 driver and I am fine My advice would be to stick to the driver which works, in your case, the 66.71, Nvidia usually pay less attention to older model cards anyway when it comes to new drivers. They focus their time on getting their newer stuff working, I imagine new drivers now (I haven't updated mine in a while) will simply be getting the best out of the 7*** series cards while continuing to get the 6*** series as stable as possible. Sorry but I think us 5200's are long gone now

Hiya guys, for a couple of years now, on bus journeys on the morning to college I've always used my MP3 compatible CD player, its been a nice lil toy for a xmas present and the things lasted and wared quite well. Although the catch on the cover is broken now meaning it can't be closed properly so I gotta keep the thing in my pocket at all times to play it. The lazer is also dying on me a bit after some hardcore usage, the size of it isnt so friendly compared to newer things and well.... 700MB of MP3's can only go so far (although its better than nothing lol) I'm after an MP3 player to continue it's legacy of blasting loud music into my ears while I drown out the rest of the world heh. I'd like one with a good battery life and preferrably one that can be recharged quickly. I always encode my music in 128kb/s and so size isn't too much of an issue to me. Basically, anything larger than 10GB is unnessecary for me, right now my music folders weigh in at around 6 I think. So a 5GB capacity would be nice, or as close to, give or take. Although I don't wanna spend anymore than £200 on it, and I wouldn't really like the idea of going over £150 either, so if anyone can help out on an affordable, at the same time good MP3 player I'd be most appreciative. I've looked on google and ebay but was left rather confuzzled and a bit overwhelmed

I just love the idea of being able to be in the sword fights in say a Zelda game, or hell, if Square bring some awesome ideas for their next Final Fantasy game on the revolution, imagine being able to wave your arms around and use the controller as some kind of magic wand lol. The only limit that this controller can hit is that of the imagination behind the game developers... This has endless fun potential
-
Thats how they plan on supporting controlling for the NES games you'll be able to download for it As for the SNES and N64 games, Nintendo are still working on creating an expansion to plug in to the bottom of the controller which will allow those respective games to be played like they used to be
-
Well one of Nintendo's key aims is to attract a new generation of gamers with the revolution, people who may have been imitated by the complexity of modern controllers. You're completely right in saying it looks like a dvd, or a tv or whatever remote, but think about it. If you were brand new to video gaming and picked up an XBox or PS2 controller, the buttons are all layed out, you have two analogue sticks, shoulder buttons etc, the analogs press down, I bet for new users something like that can be very confusing. To us obviously we know what they're all about and what to do with them, but I bet for an older person who remembers old arcade games or whatever they could simply be overwhelming... Back to the remote thing, everyone uses a TV or a DVD player and yet there are more manufacturers for them than consoles, all with their own remotes, takes on them and whatnot. Yet still, we can pick up a remote and know what to do with it, its not really explainable, but its true. Its naturally easily intuitive, and I think thats going to be one of the highlights of the revolution's controller, while at the same time, being able to do so much more than just react to buttons being pressed. Again I advise everyone to read the IGN article I linked to earlier and check out all the possibilities and new doors this opens up. This really could set a new standard in videogaming
-
Well, today, Tokyo Game Show, the president of Nintendo: Satoru Iwata revealed for the first time what many have been considering the essential part of their upcoming Revolution: the controller. Nintendo have always been insisting that they are going to re-revolutionise gaming like they did 20 years ago with the original NES, so that veteran gamers, and potential new gamers, can have a fresh start with video games, and a new, fresh experience, to do this, they have decided that the input methods should be revised and rewritten. This has been the secret behind the revolution for so long and many have wondered what it is gonna be, what is so revolutionary about it, and how it will run in the long term against it's competitors. Here is IGN's own coverage of the new Revolution controller, as well as some exclusive playtests with the new toy. PLEASE read this first of all with a very open mind before any of you start replying right now with your flame bait... I for one am very excited about this, at first I was very VERY unsure about this, and I'm the biggest Nintendo fanboy you'll find! But after reading more on this, and all of the possibilities this new interface opens up, it seems as if this could just redefine the standards of how games should be played. The controller features a full 3D motion sensor, you hold it in one hand, and how you move the controller can affect what happens on your TV Screen. It also features an expansion device which is simply an anologue stick on a small device held in your other hand. After reading IGN's article on this, this opens up the potential for First Person Shooters on consoles to be just as great as their PC counterparts, as the new controller can allow for a full kind of '3D mouse' enabling you to look and precisely aim where you want to, something your 'conventional' twin analogue stick setup has been unable to do unlike your keyboard and mouse setup. The potential for this is endless, and I feel that all Nintendo need to do now is to just grab a bigger handful of third party developers who are brave enough to experiment with the new interface, and this certainly is looking like the revolution it should be now. They already have Square Enix, Konami and Capcom on their side who are already working up ideas as I type on how this new method of play can be brought into new and exciting ideas for games. Well played Nintendo, you have my vote once again!

Well I've always wanted to install Win2K on my machine for its rock solid stability, but at the same time, I'd like to be able to customise it like I can with WinXP but I know thats not really possible without memory hogging 3rd party apps. Anyway, I booted up VMWare with a fresh Win2k + SP4 install and tried out XPize on it. Apart from a couple of installation errors (such as uxtheme.dll incompatabilities since Win2K doesn't have such a file. Or some others I'm not sure on the reasons for them.) the install went fine and completed. The first surprise (since I am admittedly a XPize noobie!) was this when it restarted hehe. See for yourselves Yes, that IS Windows 2000 heh. For that 3rd image, I manually enabled the MCE background that XPize usually whacks on by default (for some reason it didnt come up), but when I did so, Win2k asked me to enable Active Desktop since its required for that desktop picture So yeah, XPize kinda works on 2K, as you can see theres a lil corruption on some of the replaced images but obviously it wasnt meant for 2K heh. Could this mean though that such a package could be optimised for 2000 to give it a nicer look?
-
Well I've played on it a bit more and I decided rather than try the GP race again, I'll just try and gain some basic skill on the Time Trial mode, after a few laps I managed to gain a time on the Le Mans circuit of 1m32s which is still the slowest time on the leaderbooard, so still alot more practise needed heh If anyone has downloaded the demo or even bought the full game, please post your times up here, lets get a bit competetive in the forums huh
-
Oh my f***ing god! I just downloaded the demo of it this morning (151mb, nice small file size) and... HOW THE HELL DO YOU PLAY THIS GAME?! This is like... the toughest thing ever! Whether its taking corners, coming out of them or just trying to keep my bike in a straight line, I cannot do it! And I'm spending more time off the bike as I fall off it than I actually am racing on the road! I've never had an interest in Motorbike based games but I thought I'd try this out for the hell of it, and I do think I could enjoy this game, but after years of playing car based racing games, this is entirely new to me and I simply cannot perform on it whatsoever lol! http://www.gamedaily.com/gp/dlexe.asp?pack...urcelist=&cid=5 This location seemed to work in getting the demo with no problem, if any of you have tried or are willing to try this out, let me know how it works out for you, cause man... THIS IS HARD!

A tip if you haven't yet decided on where to buy your gear from, OcUK is expensive compared to other places out there. I've come up with a list of what I'd like in a new rig on this forum and some of the bits were originally from there, I looked on eBuyer for the same gear and found alot of my parts significantly cheaper Edit: Lol, whoops, just noticed you're from the US, my bad
-
Hey all, I've just updated the list today, I found a few of the things I'm after that were on OcUK cheaper on eBuyer so I've changed those as well as adding a keyboard and mouse, I'm thinking of going all the way with Saitek for those two bits B)
-
I would definitely consider the extra 6800, I do feel the offer I found there was quite a nice deal tbh. 256MB 6800 PCI-E at £130! Hell yes lol
-
It is definitely gonna be a gaming rig, so far I think the choices I've made would work for that purpose very well. As for money, thats the funny bit, the money will be coming out of my student loan for the upcoming year lol, at least £1k of that will have to go towards my uni fees for this year (September 05 - Whenever - 06), and another few hundred for transport needs. Now I actually have the potential to get over £3k for my loan, but its the way in which the system works that screws it all up a bit. The loan will be payed into my bank in three (from what I've heard) seperate installments, and at three points in the year I will have to pay up towards my fees as well. Thats where it becomes a bit dodgy, chances are I could get over £1k in each installment (all being well), and a few hundred of that may only have to go at a time towards paying the fees, leaving a few hundred pounds to play with, I'm hoping. Hmm... I suppose the only thing I could say for now is that I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to spend because I'm not entirely sure on how much I'm going to be receiving and when. What my original plan was, was to simply see how much I've got towards the end of this year and then think about putting it towards new computer parts to build with. Chances are alot of the stuff I've noted down will have gotten cheaper or I may be able to splash out for better/faster gear. It is early to be bringing all this up but I would like to be ready and assured in what I'm doing first As for overclocking, well I know nothing about that, although one of my friends who helped me come up with that list insisted I try it out on both the CPU and the GPU at least once sometime so who knows heh.
-
Hewwo everybody! Now hopefully in the next few months I'm gonna get my hands on a considerable amount of moolah (Gotta love student support loans huh ), and with a bit of careful planning and working out I should have a good amonut of that free to spend on something nice. Now seeing as I've put up with a retail piece of crap as the family's first computer for the last 2, going on 3 years, I'd like to treat myself to a new rig. I'd also like to pop the cherry when it comes to building them and have a go at that as well. The thing is though, I really know nothing at all about the whole hardware thing, being much more of a software techie than anything else lol. Although with a bit of help from my friends I managed to come up with a draft for possible components I'd buy and use. What I would like is for you guys (Especially anyone in the UK) to go over this list and help me with the following: A: Is there anything essential I'm missing, let me know but exclude monitors, speakers, keyboards, mouse or anything along those lines... B: Are all the current hardware picked out the right choices, by this I need to know if everything I've picked out will be compatible with the mobo, case or anything else I'm not aware of. And C: IS IT WORTHY?! I'm asking you lot these questions because I want to feel as reassured as I possibly can from people such as you lot as well as my own friends before I make any kinds of moves on this. PS. The list I've attached is simply a first draft, but I'm sure I would like my first own built system to be along these lines, so if you guys find any errors or have any better suggestions, please feel free to edit the file and re-post it (Rename it too please if you do). This is for now, merely a guideline I'd like to work with and get advice on. I did make it in .xml format but this forum doesnt allow for the uploading of those so I've simply remade it as a html page for now. Thanks alot for your time everybody, I hope to hear from you soon B)wip___lylos_new_beast.html

If you dont keep up with www.ngemu.com you'll have missed this AWESOME update on pcsx2 http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=64105 It shows Kingdom Hearts with NO graphical errors whatsoever, so in one sense the game can be fully playable. On the other hand though, the game would probably have played at 1-2 fps since the only way this can be done right now is on a Software Renderer (EXTREMELY slow!), but watch the video that the guy has made. Since his video capturing software works by only catching every single frame that is processed, it WILL look as if its playing at a full 60fps but don't be fooled. Despite this, it is one of the biggest and in my eyes one of the most significant advances in PS2 emulation, who knows, fully playable PS2 games on your PC may be here quicker than you think! One last thing, the guy responsible for that video, his rig is extremely top of the line as far as specification goes so I doubt any of us or most of us will be able to even match or better the speeds of KH lol. http://www.x-homepage.nl/ This is his homepage, go to 'My Computer' and check out his awesome beast

I saw the trailer a while back and in complete honesty I nearly threw my whole dinner up that I ate not long before! This film is soooooooooooo gonna suck, its more wooden crap from Hollywood, thank you very much for ripping a part of my gaming childhood to shreds so you can make money out of it :angrym: I will watch it when it comes out, but no way in hell (no pun intended) will I greet this with open arms and a positive outlook on it is going to be very VERY hard for me to have. Just look at this! What is it you ask? It's the movie's take on the BFG! Bah, its a kid's toy ffs!
