i’ve stumbled on this issue myself (mind you it was before doomsday) but updating my Vista copy up until april 2017 and updating root certificates solved the problem. I hope microsoft would not prevent us from activating our os that we paid for??

Well that was quick. Beamng.Drive today updated to version 0.20.0.0 and unfortunately broke the support for Windows Vista with extended kernel :( So the latest version for Vanilla Vista is 0.15.0.6 For Windows Vista extended Kernel (as of 6.8.2020) is 0.19.4.2. I think that this is end of the road, since the game seems to utilize direct x 11.1 which Vista does not support.

I wanted to tell everyone who is trying to accomplish the very same thing my story of trying to "use" Windows 8.1 on modern laptops. (I've used whiskey lake i3 laptop with mx 110 gpu from Nvidia) Installation was very hard from the beginning. Sata drivers needed to be loaded. After i got to the desktop i was greeted to nonfunctional touchpad. In short i've got most of the drivers working (although some of them were from shady russian website). Touchpad was still in non working condition and it was not even showing in device manager and curiously enough the mx 110 was the biggest issue. Even though Nvidia says that mx 110 is compatible with Windows 8.1 it is only half true. my hardware id was different than the "compatible" one. In short if anyone has tip for Windows 8.1 "compatible" new laptop please let me know. And to anyone who is trying this very same thing I wish good luck. It is a shame that Windows 7 got better treatment than Windows 8.1 did. and microsoft should stop forcing everyone on to their f****** windows 10.

Yeah but fonts are so ugly in firefox. I use chrome on vista just because of that.

No rocket league stopped working on november 2019. You can try yourself without kernel extension the game wont simply launch throwing missing functions in kernel32.dll

Rocket League is working with the extended kernel. I can't believe that. The game itself asks for XAPOFX1_5.dll you can source it on the internet and after you put it in system32 folder the game launches normally. Edit: Cinebench R20 is working too so you can add that one.

Shouldn't we start to list Vista extended kernel programs that work? For example firefox 78 is mostly running without an issue (except atleast for me html5 video) and search bar.

Hi, so i've finally got to buy my new laptop. I did decided to buy Asus laptop with Intel core i3-8145U and nvidia mx110. Supposedly nvidia offered Windows 8.1 drivers and i was quite confident that i can mod the uhd driver to work with Windows 8.1. Oh boy that was a mistake. Windows 8.1 at first didn't even see any hdd during setup (i solved it by importing sata drivers) and when it finally installed touchpad didn't work. I still had my confidence that i can solve it by running SDI (snappy driver installer.) SDI installed most of the missing drivers. 3 missing drivers were left to install (UHD 620, NVIDIA MX110, SD card reader). Nvidia installer straight up said that my os is unsupported (i don't know why they list Windows 8.1 then). uhd 620 was 4-5 hour job just to get to code 43. Anyone can help me? I'm desperate and thinking of returning the laptop EDIT: I forgot to say that touchpad didn't work no matter what i did.

Hi, Do I have any chance getting windows 8.1 to run on new Dell G3 15 Gaming laptop? i'm considering new laptop, but it has to be compatible with Windows 8.1. I knwo for sure that the gpu (1050) is compatible, but unsure if i will be able to mod the intel one for example. Thanks.

Unfortunately i'm giving up on vista. Rocket league stopped working. Some missing kernel extension. Skype and teamspeak are no longer a thing. ripcord is somehow useful but looks like a program from the 90's also no screenshare,webcam etc.. Teamviewer no longer supports Vista and i'm not even talking about browser support and hardware support. So long my friend. i'm so sad to do this, but it is necessary.

Oddly enough the browser should work on windows 8.1 right? cause it seems that the browser is non functional across all operating systems..

i think you are so close to get it up and running at least on Vista. Even aero works. But the browser just does not do anything else.

Can you link the installer here? I'm running Windows Vista on real hardware. I can test whether it works or not.
