  1. Well, the crap is back. Insider 14986 has the white text boxes again. Just when I thought that some real programmers had shown up. Putting old bad code into the product just doesn't cut it. The test computer will be turned off until next year. This release gets rated as a "1." "Won't recommend Windows 10 to anyone." Happy Holidays. No more testing this year. Will expect the real programmers to get back from vacation by next year. No fertilizer with that product, just stink.
  2. Follow the money. Who makes money with an undervalued MS? Who makes money with telemetry? Who would make money with a bankrupted MS? Would anyone do such manipulation just to make money? Where is the money going anyway?
  3. It's Christmas time and my thought about a really good gift would be the MacBook Pro maxed out and running several operating systems with VMware Fusion. The concept of swipe left or right to simply move to another operating system with native apps is really inviting. 2017 may become an interesting technology year. Maybe go back to school again in the second childhood. OS X, Win 7 Pro, Win 8.1 Pro, Win 10 Pro and Linux Mint for starters. The 2TB SSD embedded on the motherboard should handle the space requirement. Just a dreamer wishing on a star.
  4. Another switch to Apple, the Windows 10 trend. Daughter bought a maxed out MacBook Pro to replace Windows PC. Dad bought Office:Mac 2011 to provide some reliable MS software. Even if some say that Apple is like MS, as a user of both platforms, Apple software just works. Can't say that about Windows 10 or newer MS software any more. Or you can but that doesn't make the software run any better. However, the current fast track insider W10 at least got the white text box problem fixed. Perhaps an early Christmas present. Now if the network bandwidth hog got controlled. Probably not any time soon.
  5. So I wonder. Will a school district switch to Win 10? How will the tech maintain usable computers under Win 10? Will Cloud based networks be used? Won't that Cloud usage wipe out the bandwidth of the school network? Will the school district MS contract give the techs control to manage the network traffic? To manage the software update insistence? Even under a Win 7 a school district network was painfully slow for students and teachers where I worked. Doesn't a Cloud based network slow all user activities? What am I missing? So when 50 students log on in their classroom in the first 5 minutes of the class and then wait 15 minutes to get logged in, isn't something wrong with this computer thing? That's a scenario that I've observed many times on a Win 7 network. Would it be magically better on a Win 10 network?
  6. A comment on other Windows 10 crap. On an insider forum it was suggested to me that getting release information from the "Hub" would help me. I brought it to that person's attention how difficult it is to use a computer that suffered from the white text box syndrome. Just analyzing crap from another perspective. It is interesting how crap brings a smile to my face. Maybe just the early farmer culture that brings perspective into focus.
  7. Wow, doing that is really cool! Thanksgiving is coming so I was playing nice in the sandbox. Perhaps restoring old code is the way to be innovating now. Or you never know what might grow when fertilizer is spread. Nice flashing lights. Reminds me of mainframes. Thanks for the smile.
  8. Reality of the performance of 14965 and 14971 may trump (pardon the use of that word) what Woody says. After several months of "white text boxes" two insider releases on two different computer platforms show that Microsoft developers fixed the operating system software. Yes, I know that it is still Windows 10 but there is a little less crap in it today in the fast track preview experiment. However, they get a thank you when I don't have to guess what is in the text boxes. That's enough fertilizer to grow something. It may be a little late with winter coming on up north. The main home computer is still the iMac, nothing changed there. It's like, Wow!, MS fixed something!!!???
  9. The crap just became fertilizer! Installed insider fast track 14965 and 14971 and on both releases the white text box problem was gone, hopefully fixed!!!!!!! This situation on the Apple MacBook computer running Windows 10 with Boot Camp. The display driver software was not changed. Only Win 10 software was changed.
  10. Two computers for alpha testing just for fun. Have only reported the problem on the Feedback App 3 or 4 times. The Windows Update Show Hide Tool refused to download when I tried to get it 3 weeks ago. Just got it today but haven't used it yet. On 14959 now but found out that when the Microsoft Basic display driver is running and the white text boxes are gone, now have lost the MS Wi-Fi software so when the Wireless link is connected, there is no internet. Just a minor inconvenience. Will keep trying your suggestions. Thanks. Being a wall, you never know what will show up. Exciting times. In the mean time, the iMac just runs. Life is good. Old farmers use crap for fertilizer.
  11. Correct. W10 preview seems to refuse to allow Microsoft basic display driver to run for any length of time short of a clean install. Microsoft basic display driver eliminates the problem. It is replaced by a "Best Driver" selected by W10. The best driver facilitates the white text box problem.
  12. Moved the MacBook from one WiFi location to another. The Apple side picked up the new WiFi link and used it with no problem. In the past when I moved from the Apple side with a restart to the Win 10 side the WiFi link was transferred. Not today. Now it is hunt and peck the white text boxes to select the new WiFi location. Just a little more crap to see if I had fallen asleep. W10 challenges are so invigorating. Wide awake now.
  13. However, another IMO any laptop whose name begins with "Mac" gets multi-tier consideration because it just runs Windows software better that PCs and you have a stable OS X software that just runs and you control the updates. Just functional computing. If you can afford unstable software, buy a PC, pricing makes no difference. Sorry, JorgeA but the MacBook runs insider fast track W10 preview better than the Dell laptop. But both computers run W10. It's just an interesting journey.
  14. Fast track preview 14951 installed on the Dell laptop and the Apple MacBook. The white fill text box problem is not fixed. Only shows up on MS apps. The other apps have no problem. Classic Shell asks to update configuration to the new operating system and with a click on 'yes', it just does it and says all is well. How's that for functional software?
  15. And so the change begins. "All my data is 'Mine' and all your data is 'Mine' -------------------->>>>}}}}" Piccard starlog entry: {{{14951.10}}}
  16. Unless you become a Cyborg like Piccard. Their system will be changed.
  17. 14942 Win 10 insider preview fast track is running on the MacBook The white fill text box problem is still there. It's getting easier to do the windows update using the "by guess and by golly" method clicking on the white menu text boxes to check for updates, etc. Still trying to understand if the display driver installed by Win 10 is the problem or if there is a software programming error in many Win 10 applications. Many Windows 10 apps and third party apps have no problem using the "Best Driver" that Win 10 installs to display clean video. Classic Shell works well with the new 14942 software to provide a usable Start Menu.
  18. Floating in the preview crap: A little creative mouse clicking, narrator and Classic Shell has 14936 up and running on the Dell laptop and the Apple MacBook. Still thinking that the white shade on the text boxes is a software programming error, not a display driver issue. Too many applications can use the MS driver to display good video on the computers. The text boxes that get white shade, display good video for a second or so as well. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of "As The Crap Turns."
  19. Follow-up to See-Through Text Boxes that have turned white on many computers running 14931 (Insider fast track preview). Just knowing where to log in on the PC gets you logged in. Installed Classic Shell and got control of many of the software features with a good start menu. Sometimes a little determination helps to move the crap around. Going back to 14905 was not a viable option. "Got to love this crap." Gaming? How about "Crap-Up?"
  20. Regards 14915 and 14926: Wondering if the "See-Through Text Boxes" were programmed incorrectly? Could graphics drivers be related to this situation? Yes, some crappy questions.
  21. An iPhone 7 will be the update. You're comment made my chuckle for the day. Thanks. Options: (1) Update the PC to Windows 7 Pro. (2) Have fun looking for a stable Win 10 fast track insider preview as part of the crap review. (3) The other fast track computer is an Apple MacBook. It runs Win 10 better than the Dell laptop. time to see if the MacBook can run 14926. It's a crapshoot.
  22. Fast track insider preview 14926 for PC has the same empty box problem as 14915 had. Reverted to 14905. Some people have no problem with 14926. Just trying to understand this crap.
  23. Still waiting for the next fast track insider build beyond 14915 for PC. Maybe no new W10 crap is good crap?! In the mean time, a powered off PC can't be updated. All is well!
  24. Invisible crap update: From an insider forum another tech had the same white rectangles with 14915. His brilliant solution was to revert to 14905. However, that required using the "blind chicken technique." Clicking on the white space for a log on and then logging in worked. A real desktop appeared so settings could be selected. Blind chicken technique: 1: Select Win update block 2: Select 5th item up on the left (Recovery) 3: Select second item from the top on the right (Go Back to an earlier build) 4: Confirm that is what you want. 5: Wait for 14905 login to appear. Usable crap (Other problems). Once in awhile this crap is fun. Second childhood!
  25. 14915: Invisible crap! Installed 14915 on two insider computers and the computers were rendered unusable. White on white is very difficult to read and understand. Seems like some people like it according to another forum!?
