  1. Released Windows 10 just provided positive feedback. By setting the Win 10 parameters for a neighbor, her laptop became usable with a prize of a pint of organic chocolate ice cream for me. Now this is some good crap. Win 10 may become a boon for technicians! Reminds me of the days of looking for the tube that was dark in the computer. There appear to be a few dark spots in W10 these days. However, the benefits are good.
  2. Post anniversary crap slide: 14905: Black screen on startup problem (still here). Some settings selections close settings (Settings used to work fine). Desktop shutdown icon doesn't work (Maybe that's why the computer has a Power Off button) (Shutdown icon used to work fine). It's the chuckle of the day to see what else has been programmed not to work. Is it because self induced problems are easy to fix? Maybe if you don't have problems to fix, you don't have a job. Or has W10 programmed itself to self destruct? After all these years I find it hard to believe that good clean code can't be written. And if some code is working, don't change it! And lately I'm seeing computer clubs giving classes on "How to use W10!" Yup, "the only winning move is not to play."
  3. Just when I thought there was no more crap in the pipeline and only the stink was left over a new delivery has arrived. Oh no, I've become a crap junkie. The future is now, 14901. Edit: New crap: Some of the settings links don't open a new window. The top settings window just closes. The end result is no way to use settings to change parameters.
  4. I think an anniversary occurred as well. I'm beginning to think that I don't understand crap!?
  5. Now the MS insider is into new math, 14393.5 upgraded to 14393.1. No, wait! 14393 upgraded from .five to .ten. (14393.5->14393.10) Well, an upgrade occurred!? The fertilizer is turning back to crap. The good part is that the upgrade did not crash the system. Life on the inside is good.
  6. It must be more valuable, MS is charging for it now. You may not pay for crap but you might pay for fertilizer. The insider version 14393.5 hasn't crashed yet. However, the main test is does it boot up, restart, shutdown. On the MacBook, it does one of the three with consistency. Edge is not used and Ghostery keeps the other browsers working reasonably well. How valuable is fertilizer? Guess it depends if you are a farmer or gardener. Some computer users really like it!? Other computer users wouldn't use it if it was free! Unless they were insiders and did it for........ Don't really know why I'm doing it?????????
  7. So, as of today, W10 has turned from crap to real fertilizer. So, it has become a much more valuable product.
  8. In just 3 days Win 10 is no longer free crap, the crap will cost $$$$$$$.
  9. 14393.5 is in the stream. Maybe it gets harder to squeeze out the small pieces of crap, .1>.2>.3>.4>.5? Constipation?
  10. Is this the last week of crap? The MacBook is up to 14393.3. Just coasting in for this last week------------..............!
  11. At least OS X users won't blink an eye. Facetime just works across the Apple spectrum. Oh, and where are those MS Cloud servers located? And the servers are protected by MS security? With all those billions that are rolling in, they can afford great security. More greatness?
  12. It appears that MS really doesn't care if Windows 10 has issues. They're off selling their Cloud and making more money doing it than their Win 10 project brings in. I wonder if they will flush it like their phone project. Or maybe it's already flushed?
  13. If the lips are moving, he's lying. Applies to M$ or the candidate, it's their business thing to do. Yup, the road to bankruptcy. The IBM slide all over again. The new M$ apparently don't know about computer history. And then there's plagiarism. Is the wife a Democrat? Why does Win 10 run better on the Apple Boot Camp 10 year old MacBook?
  14. The "Window of Opportunity" is fast closing for Windows 10. If you snooze, you Win.
  15. 14390 downloading now. Only 10 more to go to hit the magic 14400. And August is approaching fast as well.
  16. Still waiting for the Boot Camp Win 10 startup black screen problem to be fixed. 14388 downloading now. It feels like its coming down the crap chute. Maybe this is a crap shoot. Edit: No solution. The pile at the end of the chute just got a little larger. Yup, both crap chute and crap shoot.
  17. OK: 75% -> Windows 10 doesn't work properly 25%-> Windows 10 does work properly An interesting trend! Maybe it's close to the launch date!
  18. Windows 10 Insider 14379 brought back an issue with the MacBook running Win 10 under Boot Camp. When Win 10 does a normal shutdown, two boots are required to bring it back. The first boot black screens. A manual power down is required. Then the second boot works OK. This issue disappeared when Boot Camp Manager software was installed under 14372. 14379 seems to have stepped on some needed software. Just a minor inconvenience while waiting for the next Fast Track to show up. (Rocking on the back porch watching the birds....)
  19. Thanks. Uninstalled 3173040. It came back on the first update search, so now it is Hidden.
  20. Just to keep ahead of the Nags, Fast Track is up to 14379 now. (Yup, the MacBook installed it cleanly.)
  21. Another surge upward to 0.201 on a scale of 10. The Apple Boot Camp Manager appears to have stabilized 14372 with the Boot Camp Control Panel. Moved back and forth between Apple OS X and Win 10 error free. And the bonus was 14376 has installed cleanly , Narrator still works, Narrator still turns off and Boot Camp Manager still has control. (As an aside, what's $10,000 here and there?) [for M$ that is] EDIT: Crap Meter slid: 0.199 on a scale of 10. 14379 appears to have undone the benefit that Apple Boot Camp Manager did for 14372. Back to the Black Screen on the first boot from a normal Win 10 power down. A manual power down then enables Win 10 to boot correctly. One step upward, two steps down. Even the $120 M$ will pay someone to run W10 after this first year isn't enough. No wait. They want to charge $120 for W10, go figure!
  22. Ok, now something new and totally unexpected occurred after the Boot Camp Manager was installed. Apple software update must have been part of the update because Apple Software update started up and gave the opportunity to install Apple apps like iTunes and iCloud and the Apple iTunes Store. Has anyone seen this happen on Win 10? Pages and Numbers are available under iCloud!!!!! If Apple takes over Win 10!!!???? A whole new situation to think about!
  23. Crap Meter Adjustment: Windows 10 Insider Preview 14372 has run error free for over a day on both the MacBook and the Dell laptop.
  24. This is the link to the procedure. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204923 On the "Install the downloaded Windows support software" section, 4. and 5. were slightly different for me. Got a message that said I should have Windows 7 for this to work. However, another window popped up which gave the option to install in compatibility mode. Selected that and all the drivers installed that were missing for Win 10. Looked like Win drivers created by Apple to support the Mac hardware for Boot Camp. This was really a time for smiles. The 10 year old MacBook with its SSD runs Win 10 Insider 14372 like like it was really good software. Something like a Pig's ear running like a Silk Purse. Life is full of surprises.
  25. Used a procedure with Boot Camp to create a thumb drive with Windows drivers. Installed the drivers on 32-bit 14371 and now there are no missing drivers in Win 10. 14372 installed cleanly and no drivers were lost in the process. However, got another call from the MS Scammer that the Windows PC was sending error messages. I asked him what operating system was sending the error message and he didn't know but insisted that he was legal and needed to fix my computer. Told him to remove me from his call list. It's been a busy day for the MS Fast Track. Yup, more smiles. Oh, 14372 seems to be working!?
