  1. @Mathwiz Since you have misunderstood what, meant the Microsoft Installer redistributable 4.5. If you want, you can also try MSE 4.8 (Please PM).
  2. @Mathwiz If installed MSI 4.5 (KB942288-v3)?
  3. @Mathwiz This week I just saw the malwarebytes version 3 has released and this version with me a lot of resources consumed, especially with the CPU. This software has to be "mature" again at the customer, I have assumed that the stable version 2.2.1.1043 is still current. It is promised that no additional virus scanner is needed. About the said problem with MSE, I have researched, but also no concrete reference to this problem, except that it worked with subsequent defenses or engine updates again. The fact is, I am currently no longer recommend the current version of malwarebytes for a cross-check, since there are still so much problems. I will continue to stay with Malwarebytes Antimalware, at the stable version 2.2.1.1043. I'm sorry, the malwarebytes has caused problems and hope that no important data has been lost. As far as memory is concerned, you can allocate more than 1GB to the VM, if the memory of the host computer allows it.
  4. A more recent version of Shockwave Player 12.2.5.195 as well I do not get, however, for the latest Shockwave Player. Full https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Full.exe Slim https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe The link from dencorso I had overlooked, then the two links are superfluous. Think that with Shockwave, on the part of Adobe, is not much to be expected.
  5. First close Google Chrome, copy from "%windir%\system32\Macromed\Flash" the files "pepflashplayer32_24_0_0_186.dll" and "manifest.json" to the User Profile from Google Chrome " \Documents and Settings\$USER$\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\PepperFlash\24.0.0.186\" and rename "pepflashplayer32_24_0_0_186.dll" to "pepflashplayer.dll". Starting Google Chrome again. Note: Is also recognized by Google Chrome as version 24.0.0.186! (chrome://flash or chrome://components)
  6. Now I know the least why I was one of the few who had no problems with "NDP30SP2-KB3188734" and "NDP40-KB3189017", because "KB2973115" is included in my update rollups (corresponds to this list). Also interesting is the context from KB2973115 to KB2756918, KB2756918 has been replaced by the newer KB2973115.
  7. @Dave-H I am happy when it has worked. I am only surprised, since the October Patchday these two updates are available, why it is only now with some users to problems. Since I am anxiously the next month, there is still one update for the .NET Framework 2.0 sp2 and 4 (a new quality security rollup, since MS should not only change the packaging, but the content of the packaging correspond, a real rollup! ). Faith so slow because the MS us begrudge no Merry Christmas and want to annoy us right times (It started so that the MSE will update any definitions except the famous POSReady 2009 Key is present, then the problem is with the extreme processor load with svchost at AU/WU/MU and for the time being to last this .NET Framework problem).
  8. @Dave-H Honestly, best will probably be (best before still take an image of the HDD) completely uninstall the .NET framework and install these fresh from the beginning. I also have .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 and 4 (Rollups) in about 30 min. Installed with all the updates, in a VM with one processor core and 512 MB.
  9. I would have been interested in whether the Windows (%windir%\Installer) original backed patch files (numbers and letters Code.msp) of the missing updates from .NET Framework were still present. Normally, the backed-up patch files will be accessed if, as in this case, the last two KBs (NDP30SP2-KB3188734-x86.exe and NDP40-KB3189017-x86.exe) change from GDR (General Distribution Release) to LDR (Limited Distribution release). Are possibly through optimization or cleanup programs in the Installer folder maybe files deleted? In a test in an older VM, where the .NET Framework was also often updated between updates and some older, superfluous replaced updates, I did not have this phenomenon. It does not occur at all, unfortunately not with me, otherwise for me the error analysis could be made easier.
  10. Then there is a check with Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, should not be a problem to boot the ISO as a CD-ROM. How much memory did you give the Virtual XP? In my tests with MSE, I like to give at least 1 GB in my VM.
  11. Already tried to reset the database of MSE (MpCmdRun.exe -RemoveDefinitions -All)? Code for Batch: @echo off FOR /F "tokens=2* delims= " %%a IN ('REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware" /v "InstallLocation"') DO SET "MSEInstallLocation=%%b" "%MSEInstallLocation%\MpCmdRun.exe" -RemoveDefinitions -All or Microsoft Security Essentials Updater. If so, make sure that no malicious software is installed, scan with Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10 and / or Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. How it looks with the hardware (age and simple listing), memory size, possibly dusted, power supply some age weakness or defective capacitors on the mainboard.
  12. Have times Quick and Fullscan with MSE 4.4.304.0 (virus definition 1.233.2411.0) run, could not notice any abnormalities. Does it hang on a particular file? Other virus scanners ect. Installed? If necessary, scan the file system (chkdsk) for errors.
  13. I once again played various scenarios because of the update problem and the resulting high CPU utilization of "svchost.exe". Now the fact is, that with me this problem (the system was almost no longer responding and "svchost.exe" was permanently on the CPU) was solved only by the current cumulative update of IE8. Furthermore, I have during the search (MU) partially an acute memory requirement up to 900 MB. I have tested with Office 2003, 2007 and 2010. Unfortunately, I can not understand users who still have problems, which is still going wrong here, especially since apparently other factors play a role (possibly missing updates / hotfixes, Possibly little memory and and and). Regarding the .NET Framework problem, which I after several installations unfortunately can not follow, because constantly error free. Now if you want to try it with a complete deinstallation and reinstallation of the .NET Framework or once again the complete updates to install over it, I can offer for the version 3.5 sp2 as well as 4 each an Updaterollup (multilingual) the thing accelerates. If interest please PM.
  14. @glnz The topic MSI 4.5 we had at an earlier time and MSI 4.5 redistributable (KB942288-v3) was post-installed by your side (I can not memorize with each, itself themselves these points documenting.)! It is mainly a reference to those who do not follow this topic (at least at the end of this topic) and wonder why any problems arise under Windows XP with the POSReady 2009 updates. On the other hand, not only Windows XP is affected by various security gaps, but all Windows versions! As for the outstanding updates for the .NET Framework 2 and 4, there will surely be a later date. Since I think of July 2016, there came massive updates for the .NET Framework which have been missing. The days of all Windows versions are counted! @Dave-H For me I have taken all the updates for the .NET Framework each version (3.5/4) to a rollup together and since I had no problems with the upgrade. Probably has to do with the change to the QFE branch, more I can not say at the moment.
  15. Well, unfortunately it is the same .NET Frameworks updates from 10/10/2016 (NDP30SP2-KB3188734-x86.exe and NDP40-KB3189017-x86.exe). Small note, this is now a Security and Quality Rollup! What is missing is an update for both .NET Framework 2 and 4 (Microsoft Security Bulletin MS16-155).
  16. As I noted, with POSReady 2009 Entry in Registry, the Automatic Updates or in Internet Explorer 8 at WU/MU are very slow and result in the process "svchost.exe" to an extremely high processor load. To work around this issue, first disable Automatic Updates and restart your computer. Then manually download and install the latest Cumulative Update for Internet Explorer 8 in the WSUS catalog. After restarting the Automatic Updates again, WU/MU under Internet Explorer 8 are again possible without problems. Current updates for Windows XP: WindowsXP-KB3196348-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 WindowsXP-KB3196726-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 ! Security update for MSI 4.5, query of the existing version in the system does not exist! Make sure the MSI 4.5 (KB942288-v3) is installed! WindowsXP-KB3203884-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 WindowsXP-KB3204723-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 WindowsXP-KB3204724-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 IE8-WindowsXP-KB3203621-x86-XXX.exe 12/11/2016 incl. Hyperlink Object Library Secure Update (hlink.dll)
  17. As far as I can tell it by opening (with WinRAR) of "WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe" it is multilanguage. (At first I also thought it was only for the ENU language version (x09) for XP. All the better, since MS has yet saved a few MB on the server. )
  18. Sorry, does not fit on this topic, but must be mentioned absolutely! If you want to install the POSReady 2009 key in the registry and install updates, you must first install MSI 4.5 (KB942288-v3)! Since a security update is offered for MSI 4.5 and in this update (KB3196726 > KB3072630) no query of the existing version in the system (usually MSI 3.1) can lead to extreme malfunctions of Windows XP! Download Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable or direct WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe (multilanguage) Note: In the XP variant POSReady 2009 MSI 4.5 is included! @harkaz Would not be bad if it was mentioned in the first post of "POSReady 2009 updates ported to Windows XP SP3 ENU".
  19. There are actually a discrepancy between the download via HTTP and WU/MU, especially since the update under MSE currently works only if no Antvirus or spyware definition is installed, there is no further update at the moment instead. (Current definition at this time version 1.233.1990.0) Well, then here is a quick fix with the help of the task manager: (code to create a batch file, all 60 min Update) @echo off SET MIN=60 SchTasks /delete /TN MSE-Definition-Update /F SchTasks /create /RU "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" /ST 00:00:00 /SC MINUTE /MO "%MIN%" /TN MSE-Definition-Update /TR "\"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Security Client\MpCmdRun.exe\"-SignatureUpdate -MMPC" For Uninstall the Task: @echo off SchTasks /delete /TN MSE-Definition-Update /F Otherwise use the MSE definition downloader. Update: Attention! In MSE, the direct update of the definition (MU/WU) again works with the entry in the registry for POSReady 2009 (HKLM,"SYSTEM\WPA\POSReady", Installed, 0x10001,1)! If you do not want this entry, you must use the alternative download options (HTTP)!
  20. Christmas is coming for this reason I have here a little gift for you, click here. (Dutch offline Installer wlsetup-all.exe from archive.org)

Hope this is OK, have provided a small downloader for the components. (Created with 7z SFX Builder and can be supplemented easily, if still further components are needed.) Download: here Password: v5G3]d2$pO%Iz46§Ds[T57CyfW&9H18U&nB64J"7§yp(L=q3 Update 12/31/2016

I have open wlsetup-all.exe with 7zip 9.2, in directory \.rsrc\0\PACKAGE, file P18796293, open internally and unpack File SegoeFont.msi. or Open wlsetup-all.exe with 7zip 9.2, in directory \.rsrc\0\PACKAGE, unpack File P18796293. Next open P18796293 with 7zip 9.2 and unpack File SegoeFont.msi.

@dencorso Thanks for the info. Was not addressed to me, perhaps it answers your question about SegoeFont.msi, a font type which is partially used from Windows Vista to Windows 8. Here more information.

@TuMaGoNx The version corresponds to Windows Live Essentials 2009. The bug in the xpatcher.bat I corrected, in addition, the updated "usp10.dll" (version 1.626.7601.22182) implemented in the installer for my use. In addition, I use the "7z SFX Builder" for installation programs, easier to use and makes the subsequent change easier. Thanks again for your effort and time you sacrifice.

    1. SegoeFont.msi, from which version of Windows Live Essentials? (2009, 2011 or 2012) 2. Property there is a discrepancy in the xpatcher.bat because the directory under "%CommonProgramFiles%\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE 14\usp10.dll" set USPOK=1 determined has not go in cheating between Office and 14 a space? If I have the Powerpoint Viewer 2010 installed, the directory Office14 without space is present.
