    i have exactly this problem on my pcie Radeon X600 (some powercolor oem) on VGA connection. my monitor is benq bl2411, 1920x1200. monitor wrongly detected as 1920x1440. when i try set res 1920x1200 - i get vertical panning... but if i use DVI - then 1920x1200 work good. but mon anyway detected as 1920x1440. 98SE, Catalyst 6.2 or 5.9 - no diffs.

    try use himem with /machine:at key, or xmgr instead himem (with adding string for xmgr into ios.ini). by default original himem often use very slow internal procedures w/o /machine:at key

    last result (after using /m switch, or limiting of memory other methods): - vfat bsod now gone; - driver now is loaded successfully, w/o any errors; - Odyssey see wifi card, provided by driver; - but after scanning, list of networks remain empty. :( i think, it is all. THE END. but u can try this method (patching sys for vid/pid) with other (not so new) ralink pci cards.

    i not sure that it work now. my system now wont boot, i have bsod with VFAT error, instaed normal boot wiith code 10 yesterday. so, if anyone interesting, here is my patched RT28609X.SYS: 9A904 -> 01 06 00 00 - first devid (now 60 53) - dword, 9A908 -> 81 06 00 00 - sec devid - dword, 9A90C -> 14 18 00 00 - realtek vid - dword. so u can write here own device for testing ur wifi cards. 2860.zip

    No, this is not end. It's devids white list in driver. I replace one value 01h 06h to 60 53 and now... have vfat error... So i understand, me need new rlp with /m option?

    yes, i think about this... many times. but these three files is 16 bit NE files (win3x binaries). it is very hard to patch... many code segments. many data segments. far calls. also in win3x world is usual thing - do DOS calls for disk operations. its real hacker's nighmare...

    it is PROBLEM, if u need 98 only for sporadic experiments... for sample, after her MBR intrusion was not load Win7, even if 7 installed on other physical disk.

    heh :) No, you misunderstood. I did not say that all 17 re-installations were unsuccessful. in fact, I did not even wait until they ran out, I just rebooted the computer when I saw that there was no success. why? I bought a wireless kit recently, and now I'm trying modify usb.inf from NUSB to get 98 to install usbccgp.sys during the installation so that the system does not lose control when legacy is no longer working, but the HID does not work yet, because the Composite USB device does not work, because the usbccgp.sys was not copied.

    use win31 mouse.drv if u want good work 9x mouse with legacy ps/2 emulation on newest mobo. but then u lost scrolling wheel capability...

    yes, sure, its obviously. until if u not reinstall 9x approx 17 times at one day... me not need reinstall PART, as i can just restore MBR manually. but i just want solve this stupid problem... it is possble use 95 installer files for 98se distros?

    I use PART boot manager, which all fit to first sector and give me capability to select any primary partition from up to 4 on disk, to corrent boot by one key. ie, i can select boot to dos & 98, xp, 7 or linux by one key. but always after reinstall 98se its stupid installer rewrite MBR to standard MS code, as with fdisk /mbr... as i can forbid do it? i already try: setup /ir switch, setup /nltdr switch with C:\NTLDR file, msbatch options System CCP CleanBoot with all values... all it is helpless versus stupid power w98setup.bin/suwin.dll/setupx.dll. there is any really work way? or only patch for these binaries can help?

    for first steps, i recommend get and run oldest MS Quick series compilers - Basic/C&Asm/Pascal. these things give VERY good base knowledge for programming (and also learn to technical english ). it is DOS only tools, but it enough for understanding base structures, control flow, calling... or, if u want FAST to program w/o understanding low level internals, just learn Delpfi/VisualBasic/Net...

    forget about MTP. even on w7 this ***** "protocol" have periodical problems... on old androids up tu 4.3.x (but not 4.4.+) there was option USB storage - its just as flash thumb. on versions higher 4.3.x this option remain on Mediatek devices, even on android 7... but this option usable only if u insert sd cadr into phone. internal memory not usable anyway! as universal solution, i use old good FTP, over wifi router... just instal on android any FTP SERVER (not client!), remember ip:port, when it connected with ur router, then on 98 pc (also connected with router via lan cable, must placed into ONE subnet! 192.168..1.45 - pc, 192.168..1.48 - phone. for usability i set constant manual IP by MACs in router control panel) open WinCmd/FAR/etc and just use it...

    after setting PCM=$00000001 i hear something like logon music... exactly as with mpxplay - noise, clipped, but hearing... but now i cant see desktop - after normal booting up to desktop bg i get bsod with 5a5a5a5a number, and get moveable mouse curson on black screen and no more.
