  1. lol, looks like punto finally agrees with me on something and punto, of course voltage can do more damage, but as long as you are smart about it, you will be fine. and you're proof of how you can overclock for long periods of time without any downsides. luckily the new mobos are coming with solid capacitors, so we shouldnt have to worry about leaking capacitors much longer.
  2. well what boot screen shows up? im guessing the xp screen. and which OS did you install first, im guessing vista.. to make this work correctl, you need to install xp first, then vista. i tried doing it the other way around and had nothing but errors, even though i did get it to work.

  4. well zxian, lets not get into the debate about the lifetime of the cpu, b/c it is impossible for anyone to know how long it will last. all that i care is that it will last at least 5 years, and all that my dad cares is that is will last 10 years. there is no doubt that every five years at the max i will be building a new comp, so as long as the cpu lasts that long, im happy.
  5. well i guess to be safe you could but a fan grill on the fan if u can get the hdd bay to fit with it on. but my hdd temps are both ~28C
  6. well these c2d's are exceptions i guess. but most if not all previous cpu's needed to be overvolted to get a good overclock. i know for the amd opterons, such as mine, they dont need to be overvolted much and you will hit that spot where overvolting anymore wont help in ur overclock.
  7. unfortunatly i didnt take any pics. http://lh4.google.com/image/Kremmit/RbG6sK...&imgmax=640 but this pic here, i did basically the same cutting away and my antec tricool fan which came with the case fits just fine. i did have to shove my hdd bay in pretty good at first, but now i guess its worn down.. and i attached the fan uses washers and just screwing it in from the outside of the case for your case tho, i dont think u can suspend the hdds, they will hit the fans.. and dont u regret getting the powerstream now? i just built a comp for a friend with the newer black p180 with a corair modular psu, wow does modular make a difference.
  8. well SPCR is mainly for "silent" heatsinks, which in my case means better. and yes jeremy, some people spill there thermal paste on other components, something as simple as the mobo. have you ever applied as5? it kind of seems like a mozerella stick to me, the cheese just keeps stretching so you have to pull it apart... the same happens with as5.
  9. well yes you can leave the voltage the same or even undervolt, but to truly get the processors full potential, you will need to overvolt. if you dont overvolt then you can be very limited on your overclock. as long as you have good cooling i dont see the problem.
  10. well the arctic silver ceramique is a good choice too if you dont want to worry about doing something stupid. punto-what other thermal pastes are better? ive heard of liquid metal type things...
  11. no problem. this is funny, this guy is an id***. http://picasaweb.google.com/Kremmit/P180LowerChamberMods i did this mod myself but in a 100x better way. i had to cut a little metal off but i have a 120mm fan there and the grill i still on, that way my fan filter can still go on.
  12. what do u mean ur psu wont fit? take a look at whay i did. http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=a...kcloseup8eg.jpg
  13. ya jeremy, i never said about it spilling over the cpu. like punto said, just doing something stupid like touching something. or accidently slipping or something like that. anything is possible.
  14. exactly zxian, stability is a totally different concern...
  15. wait a minute, did you face the front fan the wrong way on purpose? btw, try shoving the psu cables underneath the psu.
  16. spilling it on the mobo or some other component...
  17. stop it, your scarring me that some freaky stuff, but i guess its a good thing to have if this is all real.
  18. I'm going with Punto's answer. you would. ad now your telling me as5 doesnt lower temps at all?
  19. because you would
  20. it sure as hell does http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16835185038 what cpu do u have?
  21. ya, all i can think about is modules that have to be used. such as listed above. afaik you cant access it directly.
  22. well one option is to use an ide->sata adapter. but in a thread a few months ago i think it was punto that said those may also cause problems...
  23. what do u mean? a ninja will fit on there just fine.
  24. well my temps didnt increase at all. and the answer is yes.. as5 will defiently drop temps over stock grease, the question is, how much?
  25. um.. whats ur cpu temps? and give us a shot of the 1st page of cpuz.
