  1. Hah, I actually prefer blur, this is why I even started by enabling blur on taskbar. I don‘t know how to do this on Alt + Tab window though. Anyway, I guess that‘s not a big loss as glass is enabled there.
  2. By now I‘ve managed to make all of my jump lists working again by editing incorrectly working shortcuts in “User Pinned” folder. It‘s a simple solution—I just crop the path in “Start in” field by one folder. An example of this could be default “Start in” path for Spotify “C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Spotify” is cropped to “C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\”. However, other problems still persist.
  3. @My1, have you found a way to enable blur on Alt + Tab window?
  4. Works for both Windows 8 and Windows 10: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8636-network-add-remove-navigation-pane-windows-8-explorer.html
  5. The setup file is Inno Setup. I extracted it with a special tool and there appeared to be bunch of files, including different reflection, theme atlas image versions and other stuff.
  6. Even though taskbar is still kind of opaque this is the most stable solution right now. Thanks for reminding me this great piece of software! I especially enjoy settings which improve File Explorer browsing experience. EDIT: Classic Shell works kind of good when not having reflection image. When reflection image is set taskbar gets very opaque so this program can be only a partial solution. Where did this installer came from and what special features does it offer?
  7. Do you mean this? Has anyone found a better solution? It‘d be great if there would be something that wouldn‘t need to stay on the taskbar and make it flicker when reverting accent settings.
  8. I read your guide but I‘ve already read readme.txt included with SetWindowCompositionAttribute so I thought that using these command line functions SetWindowCompositionAttribute.exe class Shell_TrayWnd accent 0 0 0 0SetWindowCompositionAttribute.exe class Shell_TrayWnd blur truewould be the way to achieve the effect I wanted. Now I noticed that accent settings revert to default after desktop background is changed or Start Menu is opened so this is why my taskbar is kind of opaque even after disabling accent. So the question is how do I prevent accent settings from reverting to default?
  9. Well if you go to bm's download page at the bottom there is "Command line tool to change window's composition attributes." You can enable taskbar blur that way. Thanks, it worked! However, after enabling blur and having reflection image set taskbar became much more opaque comparing to window frames. Is there a way to reduce how opaque taskbar is?
  10. Why blur on the taskbar isn‘t enabled even after using a VS named aero.msstyles?
  11. It probably would be easier for the developer but there are people who are eager to try this software even though it‘s unstable. Just like you, some people prefer old features back so even beta software makes the usage of the OS more pleasant and convienient.
  12. I keep getting this error while using above registry merge: Add this line before creating a REG file: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00Also, at least for me "RequireSignedAppInit_DLLs" entry isn‘t needed at all.
  13. Windows 10 looks free now but if you‘d look deeper you‘d see that they‘re making their users pay for features they removed, advertisements in apps removal. What is more, after one year upgrading will be no longer free too. In the future, they‘re probably going to tax new Windows features, maybe even something more so Windows 10 is free and isn‘t at the same time. It depends from what angle you‘re looking from.
  14. A way to restore old Firefox titlebar design: http://www.askvg.com/tip-get-colored-titlebar-back-in-mozilla-firefox-in-windows-10/ Here‘s another tutorial, looks more detailed: http://winaero.com/blog/get-colored-firefox-title-bar-in-windows-10/
  15. It‘s true if you mean security updates. I can‘t agree with you if you have in mind everything that Microsoft ships to us though. Microsoft Silverlight, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and similar stuff that you never use, especially when you‘re using different antivirus program and firewall instead of Windows Defender, are just simply useless so therefore there shall not be pushing to install everything.
  16. I don't, ff is! I understand that, haha. This message was not intended for you specifically.
  17. I believe it's a modified version of bigmuscle's aero glass. I wouldn't try it at all. I only use his official versions and so should every else in order to support his work. I wonder how it even works properly when there‘s no official release yet. Do you think it‘s a Windows 8 version modified for this purpose?
  18. What the heck is this https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3gpan0/link_aero_glass_with_gaussian_blur_for_build/ ? Anyone want to try a modified version on their PC to test out?
  19. Nope, I‘m not using Windows Defender. Well, after restart I could use my PC again. I hope that this won‘t repeat until next update delivery. Thinking of this, it‘d be great if there wouldn‘t be such stubborn updates in the future but probably it would be hard to avoid them.
  20. Even with setting “Use libraries; hide folders from This PC” on in 32-bit processes This PC is shown above Libraries in Navigation Pane. What is more, sometimes you need to reopen 32-bit program Browse windows in order to see ONE applying settings you chose. The latter problem persisted in Windows 8.1 x64 too.
  21. I can‘t stand the newly presented update system. Today I got a notification ‘You need some updates’, I was like “No, I don‘t”. Then I launched troubleshooter to check what updates Windows want me to install. Using it, I hid Microsoft Silverlight and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. I was hoping that it‘s all done and that I can finally update my PC but after I came to updates section in Settings app I saw that the second hidden update was still on the list! I restarted my PC, then using CMD I typed “wuauclt /updatenow” and hit “Enter” but after coming back to Settings app I saw that that update was still on the list! I still had a morsel of hope that it‘s shown but won‘t be actually installed but of course that was only what I could dream of. Soon after updates were downloaded I saw that my CPU usage has increased by 20 percent. What is more, my PC became so laggy that I could barely turn on Chrome and just mostly use software that would be low on resource usage. Well, I hope now that that useless tool won‘t run automatically.
  22. Thanks for such informative explanation! I would always notice small changes around the UI but wouldn‘t ever think of combining everything into whole. I guess, I just simply loved how everything‘s structured. Well, we‘ll see what the future‘s holding for us. At least, we still have our 3rd party application developers who save us from Microsoft mistakes!
  23. People who are visiting here just post a screenshot of your context menu in a Firefox / Notepad / Resource hacker so I could see whether I‘ve a problem or not.
