  1. Well, in real life this is definitely the way to go but when talking about closed-source software only the original author can legally modify / update their software. The only things users can do in order to contribute to the project are bug reporting and ideas suggestion. In this case, the latter was strictly denied by the author leaving no other solution than cracking to solve the issue.
  2. There are so many other programs by other authors that are made to modify system files, integrate functions into OS but I‘ve never heard of any project whose author would be forced to end it because of the law issues. If Microsoft would really put effort into this then people wouldn‘t be able to bypass copyrights neither by choosing bizarre licensing models, nor by using counterfeited copies of Windows or making any other modifications to the original product. Whoa, whole series of discussions about licensing model in just a single comment! It has been said so many times that most of the people can‘t understand forced donations, this doesn‘t mean that they don‘t value Aero Glass project. Anyway, this was not the point at the moment—the original issue was posted by @adacom who was getting license issues because of constantly changed disk drives in his PC. Even though the computer is used for testing purposes, I imagine that getting nag messages at startup can be really annoying whilst watermark wouldn‘t be so much as it would be for regular users. Having a testing computer doesn‘t mean that one mustn‘t use any VS but classic ones—we had a person here who had an idea to bring Aero Glass to Windows Server operating systems just to bring some life to all that old-fashioned greyness.
  3. I‘ve just checked this with Firefox, there‘s no issue. A .7Z file is downloaded and can be extracted.
  4. What‘s wrong with QTTabBar? It‘s very customizable. If you still rather prefer Clover then contacting its developer at first would be a better idea instead of redeveloping whole program.
  5. Since Windows 7 it was and still shall be possible to completely hide Command Bar by editing UIFILE in shellstyle.dll. Of course, at first you must have Ribbon disabled. Anyway, here‘s a link to an article with detailed instructions: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-make-folder-band-auto-hidden-in-windows-vista/
  6. It isn‘t just you. For me thumbnail previews become transparent only when hovered over with mouse pointer. I believe that this transparency is there even without Aero Glass program. EDIT: a little bit of transparency is seen even when only icon on taskbar is hovered so at least in my case it isn‘t just opaque color. Of course, there‘s far less transparency comparing to Windows 7 but this is because of Microsoft‘s decision to make taskbar elements uncustomisable.
  7. Even if you clicked “Cancel” after restart message shall reappear. “Symbols” folder with symbol files inside must be placed in Aero Glass installation directory. Microsoft Edge is modern app and thus its frame is added by ModernFrame.dll. If you don't want this titlebar then do not use modernframe.dll. It is not possible to combine it with tab bar. Can ModernFrame.dll be made to ignore Microsoft Edge completely? IMO it's really not needed when using the black theme. It‘s better with additional bar than without glass at all. Anyway, if this issue can‘t be actually solved it doesn‘t make a big difference at least for me as I don‘t use that browser anyway.
  8. Why using Aero Glass makes Microsoft Edge titlebar appear instead of combining with tab bar? How to restore previous behaviour whilst still using Aero Glass?
  9. Why blur isn‘t applied on such menu borders as Jump Lists, System Tray? I believe this could be achieved in Windows 8.1.
  10. Download newest symbols for dwmcore.dll and uDWM.dll. After the latest Windows 10 update I'm getting the same message. I tried to resolve the issue by uninstalling Glass8 and installing it again in a different directory, but that didn't help. Is there any "how-to" or FAQ how to download and install the correct symbols or maybe even an easy way to do it, since the instructions I found said I'd have to install Windows SDK and much more which seems to be a little over the top for downloading a few files. Download Windows Software Development Kit. When installing choose “Debugging Tools for Windows” only. Depending on where you installed this change "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" locations in script, save it as BAT file and then run. Symbols will be placed in C:\symbols. Open this folder, mark all folders, cut and place them to Aero Glass installation directory subfolder “symbols” (example of this would be: C:\AeroGlass\symbols). Restart Aero Glass, it‘ll be working now. C:cd %windir%\system32"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" dwmcore.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" udwm.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols"C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Debuggers\x64\symchk.exe" ApplicationFrame.dll /s SRV*c:\symbols*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols
  11. This all modern style nonsense is really starting to get in the way. Humongous context menus in new build just proves this.
  12. Is it true that taskbar in RTM build can‘t be changed by theme developers?
  13. So what symbol files are needed after latest Windows 10 updates? EDIT: found.
  14. If you enabled glass in Firefox through userChrome.css it may be that this file is causing your problem.
  15. When there are loads of pages people are probably not going to read them all. Of course, it‘s always good to read several of last ones.
  16. If you enabled blur on taskbar read page 56 on this forum. I‘ve faced the same problem, it‘s solved now (even though not in the best way possible).
  17. Issue with non-transparent Firefox titlebar has already been discussed here. Firefox developers decided that their browser shall share the same design as Windows 10. You can bring glass back by reading the tutorial (especially comment section) here: http://winaero.com/blog/get-colored-firefox-title-bar-in-windows-10/
  18. I also have the issue being unable to rename folders, but I also cannot move files. Copy seems to work though. Either this isn't a widespread issue or people don't make folders or move files much. Windows 10 RTM (latest updates), uxtheme patch, colour titlebar theme. I also had this problem but since last version it doesn‘t persist for me any longer.
  19. For me it‘s already almost another day so the release would be for tomorrow
  20. I noticed this issue randomly happens after a long use here (generally after several days without rebooting or sometimes after doing many operations in the File Explorer in a short time), happened since the earlier versions of OldNewExplorer. Restarting the explorer.exe process usually fix that problem. Both Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10 are concerned. This happens for me too. Also Details Pane are sometimes back in the right side of File Explorer‘s windows even though it‘s set to sit on bottom. As NameNotRequired said, this problem can be solved by restarting explorer shell.
