  1. A new #SplitSubmission #DeskThemePack is now available on my DA page. Goju No Tou (Tower of the Wimpy) by Ingalill Creations Aero: http://deviantart.com/deviation/745116626 HiC: https://deviantart.com/deviation/745115527 Check my gallery for other classic and Aero based works.
  2. Official - Windows 10 Worst Crap Ever!

I know, but I don't like tampering with the registry for sport. I do have an idea where to look but won't bother.
  3. New #DeskThemePack submissions are now live on my DeviantArt page! Guardian of the Sea by Unicorn Lady: DL [Aero]: https://deviantart.com/deviation/743759569 DL [High Contrast]: https://deviantart.com/deviation/743760384 DeskThemePacks are made to stand the test of even the most annoying Windows Updates (so long as they don't break the shell), and are ready to benefit from all that fluent design has to offer (Aero only).
  4. Happy #ScreenshotSaturday everyone! This week, it's Kingdom Hearts Final Mix on my Nokia Lumia 1520 running Windows 10 (mobile-class) build 15254.369.
  5. Windows 10 - Deeper Impressions

    I guess that's because they're sandboxed.
  6. I host a similar thread on XDA-Developers. DeskThemePacks are the simplest, consistent and safest way to add customization to Windows 8.1 and later. Windows 7 users can utilize the DeskThemePack installer to enjoy them, too. To start off this collection, I will provide links to the MS-Plus remix submissions I've posted to DeviantArt. Inside 2.0 - available in Aero [autocolor] and its original classic scheme. Dangerous 2.0 - a new slideshow, icons and cursors build on the concept of the original. Available now. Golden Era 2.0 - new slideshow, available as an autocolored Aero submission. Let me know what you think in comments, or submit your own.
  7. Windows 10 - Deeper Impressions

using a VM as a proof of concept was thoughtful. You're probably right, but some changes are incoming post-1804. The Windows Defender UI is undergoing a radical change and the Settings UI was significantly redesigned.
  8. Windows 10 - Deeper Impressions

I wouldn't try that. You might break something. When MS updates a build, the composition of system files change as well. Cumulative updates do this to about 480 files at a time. You'd create a scenario where DWM would constantly crash because it wouldn't recognize the visual style file transplant. Trust me, I tried.
  9. Official - Windows 10 Worst Crap Ever!

actually, a build got released to Insiders before Spring, but while I had no issues, other users did, and the public release was delayed by 14 days, because they wanted to include the Patch Tuesday fixes, too. I was updated to 17134.1 right off the bat when it was made available. Jokingly, I refer to the Spring Update as version 1804.
  10. Windows 10 Regressions

You can also stop Windows Updates by editing Group Policy or the Registry to control how they're handled and when they're installed. Group Policy - Registry - Hope these two articles can help. The Registry entry is for all users, but the Group Policy help is only for those with a Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate version of Windows.
  11. Windows 10 Regressions

I was going to create a new thread, but given this is about regressions, may we talk about more recent ones? https://twitter.com/i/moments/905460369912717313 The above is a moment, not a single tweet. I've been an Insider since 2015 and it seems that my feedback has been hitting a wall. Can you relate? I eagerly await your replies.
  12. Uninstall Cortana from Windows 10

I rehosted it because it's more direct. A user has to click through three links to finally download. I did it as a convenience. I'm sorry if my report was excessive.
  13. Uninstall Cortana from Windows 10

I did it so that a user wouldn't have to click several windows just to get to one file. As an added measure I screenshotted the folder because I can understand why rehosting is an issue as some could misuse and abuse it.
  14. Restoring Display settings in Control Panel

Windows has reset the handles for the Personalization app you know. The calls now require that you reference a shell (in this case, explorer) in order to redirect a command that would normally send the user to a Modern UI version. Chain references are broken - if you click wallpaper in the shell I screenshotted, you will be taken to the Modern UI. However, if you click Desktop Icons, Sounds, or Screensaver you will stay in the Explorer Shell. That website you reference hasn't touched a Windows OS since Th2. Their references are out of date. Please note I am running Build 16232 and my shortcuts work. Because I'm an Insider, I can get the latest information to ensure I'm giving accurate advice to users who find Microsoft's choices a pain in their arse.
  15. Restoring Display settings in Control Panel

Shell commands need a shell. That command is invalid because it lacks a shell reference. My commands all check out and are not blacklisted. Replacing DLLs that work just fine is dangerous and you risk causing DWM-related crashes, making Windows unable to materialize. Not only did I provide a shell shortcut already, I provided screenshots.
