  1. Sorry, I actually meant Javascript; I don't have Java on Firefox.
  2. That's on XP SP3. There's boxes for name, country, gender, and it puts up a message in red about "less than three results" if I enter my name, but if I enter "Silva" or "Rossi" then many results are returned. I mean, it seems to be fully functional, as I get it.
  3. It seems to work fine here on Firefox 52.1.1., and also Google Chrome Portable 49 (though I did have to allow Java on Chrome to make the search boxes display--I usually keep Java off on that browser).
  4. Along the way I have continued to update Google Chrome Portable using the latest Beta version of Adobe Flash, as described earlier in this thread, without problems. However, today’s Beta release 26.0.0.89 did not work.
  5. Hopefully so, but it's only been ten months and... https://www.rt.com/viral/373450-robot-kill-switches-status/
  6. Obviously this should be merged with the existing thread, since it concerns exactly the same subject matter.
  7. Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox version 3.3.7.
  8. I uninstalled KB2973115, after which KB2756918 finally installed (no more repeating loop-install). Thank you for the information, and for what was a simple and effective solution. I have not reinstalled KB2973115, as it appears (?) that you have. I’m holding off on this because it is a server (not XP) update, and I wonder if our use of .net updates that are not XP-specific may be the source of our .net install loop problems, which I have experienced on about ¼ of my XP machines going back eight months now.
  9. At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER: start devmgmt.msc Once you are in Device Manager, go to the View menu and choose Show Hidden Devices, which will show all the device drivers including things that aren’t currently installed in your computer.
  10. I’ve now tested on XP by installing the three Office updates via the yellow shield, then running Microsoft Update--it worked, no more endless scanning, and MU installed the other updates through the browser. After the Office Updates, I did reboot both the W2k and XP machines before testing MU, so when I get a chance on another machine, I’ll try it without the reboot (the Office Updates per se don’t require a reboot, I just happened to do it). EDIT: No reboot required.
  11. I think you may have it. Manually installing the cumulative IE8 did not fix the “forever updating” problem on XP for me, either. Microsoft Update on Windows 2000 Professional gave me the same problem, so I waited for the update globe to appear in the tray, and ran the three Office updates that way; afterward, MU on W2k Pro worked just fine and timely.
  12. Maybe you could test with a flash drive that has never been introduced to Windows 10.
  13. He is amazing, that’s for sure, and it’s good you were able to install his new kernel on top of your UUR, as sometimes that can be problematic. And maybe, just maybe, a new UUR is in the offing…another something to look forward to in the season of hope.
  14. This has been discussed in the W2k SP5 thread and the KernelEx thread; it’s possible that you need BWC KernelEx 2.8h or newer, but do check out the info for yourself, as it’s not something I’ve had the opportunity to deal with myself just yet. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/156521-unofficial-sp-52-for-microsoft-windows-2000-wip/?do=findComment&comment=1128596 http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149233-kernelex-for-win2000/?do=findComment&comment=1128451 Solution: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149233-kernelex-for-win2000/?do=findComment&comment=1130369
  15. I don't think so; at any rate, Fernando has good information here: http://www.win-raid.com/t834f25-USB-Drivers-original-and-modded.html
  16. I tested Flash Beta 24.0.0.145 with Google Chrome Portable; all is well:
  17. Reporting that the update experience has been unusual here on three-for-three machines so far… MU runs and runs, so I leave it once the yellow shield pops up, or I just wait for the yellow shield in the first place. Then, hovering over the yellow shield shows 0% download progress indefinitely (defined as when my patience runs out). So I reboot, and find the downloads are ready to install. I install them, after which all is well, apparently, so far. EDIT: Fourth machine, no such anomaly. EDIT: Fifth machine, same anomaly, but this was a W2k Pro machine, otherwise not pertinent here, except that it only involved the Office update... So maybe the XP update quirk stems from the Office update.
  18. I adapted your approach to Google Chrome Portable, and it worked. I have Chrome (full version) on another machine, so I copied pepflashplayer 32_23_0_0_185.dll from that installation, renamed it pepflashplayer.dll, and swapped it into Chrome Portable 49.0.2623.112, as before, in the two places indicated here (as usual I did nothing with manifest.json): GoogleChromePortable\App\Chrome-bin\49.0.2623.112\PepperFlash GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\PepperFlash The Flash site confirms 23.0.0.185 installed. Thank you for the information.
  19. Apparently blackwingcat has attempted a fix, but to no avail. He posted on his blog that support has been cut for pre-Vista or Win 7 operating systems (not sure of the translation), either of which obviously rules out XP.
  20. Google Chrome Portable Version 53.0.2785.116 was released today, and it includes the new pepperflash 23.0.0.162; so, as usual, I swapped it for previous 22.0.0.209 in Chrome Portable Version 49.0.2623.112. Unfortunately, the Flash site was then unable to detect the plug-in, so I’m back to 22.0.0.209. I also noticed that neither the Beta nor Dev Portable versions appear to have a pepperflash component at all.
  21. Thanks for the clarification on the AHCI drivers; I see now from your driver link that you’re talking about 7.6 here, which I’ve never tried. Just FYI… Blackwingcat’s blog seems to indicate (if I’m reading it correctly) that 8.9 requires extended core v10 or above, and earlier this year I made many attempts to install it (8.9) on standard W2k (no extended kernel / no extended core) and was not successful. Some while back I also made many attempts using Fernando's 11.2 (with BWC extended kernel and extended core), including installing 8.9 and trying to “up it” to 11.2 after installation--no success there, either.
  22. To run W2k Pro in AHCI mode you should have the AHCI driver integrated to begin with (rather than trying to install it after the fact), and you need BWC's extended core integrated to do that. I’ve used the unofficial W2k Pro packages for so long I forget to mention it. Find one of tomasz86’s previous unofficial HFSLIP packages that have BWC’s extended core (and extended kernel) already integrated, and use that to create the OS install disc. Maybe tomasz86 can help you get hold of that; for some reason I’m not finding it on his site, or maybe I’m just missing it. http://windows2000.tk/
  23. It’s a simple program built-in to Windows XP, and you can get to it by going to Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore. It will probably open up with the radio button already set to “Restore my computer to an earlier time” and ready for you to press “Next,” which takes you to a calendar with bolded dates indicating available restore points. Just pick the most recent (but one that’s still before the date the problem began), click “Next” again to confirm, and it sort of takes your computer back in time.
  24. Excellent! In that case you can also use Fernando's 8.9 driver, which does list 3B29. There is a very good chance it will work, and a slightly better chance that BWC's will work (if you can identify which one to use amongst his options). Thanks, jaclaz. Fernando_8.9_AHCI_nLite
