  1. I'm sure civilization will crumble before we have to worry about future Windows versions like 11, 12, etc.... so let's just enjoy our favorite Windows system, whatever they may be, while we can. Because, without sounding too pessimistic, in the future we'll probably have to worry about more important things like, oh, food, shelter, guns, ammo, clean water, how to find/grow food... stuff like that. Defending ourselves from the violent mobs of people searching for food and who might be just killing people in general because they don't (a) don't share similar philosophical beliefs (b) don't look the same. I'm personally investing more of my time and energy and cash into "survival gear". I'm amassing knives, hand-crank flashlights, magnesium fire starters, emergency parts and supplies for my car, water filtration, maybe some rain barrels, weapons, etc. I mean, just look around, the fabric of society is crumbling before our very eyes. Furthermore, if some central "cloud" of computer banks happens to "give up the ghost" then how will people's computers get back on-line if everything is run from a centralized could. Sounds like De-centralization would be a better scenario to survive any attacks on infrastructure, or global financial meltdown, or whatever doomsday scenario plays itself out. Just saying....
  2. Just out of curiosity, what did they put in Firefox 14 that made you never want to upgrade?
  3. If you click on Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security.... then there is a box there for checking "remember passwords." I always un-check that box. I'm on a shared computer, and that's what I've always done to ensure nobodys passwords magically appear at every log in screen.
  4. Okay, thanks :-) So is there an exact file containing the browsing history then? I think I've established that "Cookies.txt" contains the cookies, correct? I've already added that file to CCleaner's custom list of items to delete, and it seems to have worked. Therefore, all that remains is figuring out a way to wipe the history.
  5. Monroe, on my computer I have CCleaner setup to delete the "cookies.txt" file that is stored in the C:\Windows\Application Data\RetroZilla\default\profiles\x76df6j6 folder. This has taken care of the cookies at least. But like you, I'm wondering, which files can I delete so as to get rid of the history, passwords, and whatever else. SeaMonkey 1.1.19 never had the option to erase user data on exit, as I believe later versions of SeaMonkey implemented - starting with SeaMonkey version 2. Even Firefox 2, K-Meleon 1.5, and Netscape 9 had this feature before SeaMonkey did. I think with just CCleaner you can probably take care of everything, just need to know which files can be erased :-) Are basically all the files in Application Data\Profiles\ folder disposable? It ain't going to ruin the program if I clear out everything in there? Well, except the Cache, I want to keep that. Thanks.
  6. I uploaded Trout to my website here: http://www.geocities.ws/gcd/legacy.htm
  7. Don't want to get too off topic, but I'm using CCleaner 2.36.1233, is there a way I can just tell CCleaner where and what file to delete? Under "options" in CCleaner there's an "Include" button that allows me to allegedly delete cust files folder... will that work then If I point it at the cookie file for Retrozilla? Assuming that cookie.txt file in the Windows\App Data directory is the right one?
  8. Is there a file I can delete that gets rid of my cookies? I'd like to make a simple batch file that starts Retrozilla, but erases cookies before starting. Do you know where is that file stored? Is it this file: \Windows\Application Data\Retrozilla\Profiles\Default\x76df6j6.slt\cookies.txt? If I delete that^ from a batch file every time will that clear out my cookies? This computer is shared with other people, and I don't want them logging into my accounts and whatnot. Just privacy in general. Thanks for your work.
  9. I don't know what link I clicked on originally, but your link is a lot better, thanks DougB.
  10. Noticing that web pages, for example the Wikipedia page I'm browsing here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psylocke Page content is more fluid and it scrolls better. Can move up and down the page faster with less jerkiness and or slow motion. I commend you for your efforts on RetroZilla. I'm sure people will like it.
  11. Already noticed one improvement over regular SeaMonkey 1.1.19 and K-Meleon 1.5.4...... when browsing Craigs List with javascript off, all the website content would be stuffed at the bottom of the page and I'd have to scroll down to see it. With Retrozilla it loads normally at the top of the page now. Craigs List loads much nicer now. Cool :-) This is a pretty neat project good luck with it :-) I'll definitely be using it now. *edit* I'm using RZ on WinME, on dial up, with no javascript. If that matters. Anywho, good job thanks.
  12. Trout Audio Player no longer works on WinME. Last version to work was 1.0.6 build 71. Sorry, but I can't find a link to any previous versions. I can email older versions to you if want. Just message me if interested. PhotoFiltre 7.2.1 still works fine on Windows ME. http://www.photofiltre-studio.com/pf7-en.htm
  13. MPlayer WW SVN-r35250 http://www.freewarefiles.com/MPlayer-WW_program_80597.html This program is listed on the first page, however, the download link is outdated and the homepage is hard to navigate or understand. Instead I found a link to a portable version from 2012. This is the best video player I've found for Windows ME. Tested it on several AVI files that VLC couldn't open. Kernelex 4.5.2 and XP sp2 compatibility mode.
  14. In my day, all we had were 3.5" floppies with 1.4 MB storage capacity. And I had to walk 7 miles in the snow to get home.... Pffft. Okay, I made up the last part :-)
  15. If you are ever stuck in Antarctica and you come across a dog that turns into an Alien, and you need to test everybody's blood to see who's still human, then you might need a flamethrower when and if the alien comes back. Burning it is the only way to stop it !!!!
  16. I think i'd rather have a cage at the zoo. Right next to the monkeys.
  17. I don't have a stereo system, the closest think I have to that is the two little speakers that came with my computer. I suppose I could plug my Cd player into my guitar amp. But the cable isn't gold plated however :-)
  18. Since starting this thread I've changed my mind and I don't use any compressed audio formats. I found it too confusing to remember which CD's I burned from MP3 source files and which CD's I didn't. Gradually, if I continued to transfer songs from CD to computer, and vice versa, there will be a loss of quality each time I rip them. It's like once you have MP3 stored on your hard drive, they're stuck there. There's no use in burning them onto CD because the quality will be inferior. So, in order to spare myself the confusion, I gave up on MP3 and WMA and whatever. Further, I don't really like listening to music on the computer, it detracts from the experience. Music is something I like to enjoy while sitting in bed, or staring out my window and watching the sunrise, sunset, or trees swaying in the wind. Listening on the computer degrades my music listening. Therefore, I have no need for any MP3 clutter. Nowadays, I listen to CD's only on my battery operated player. I'm very low-tech in that regard. I get 100% enjoyment from my little portable CD player walkman. It's nice because I can take it with me anywhere. I have gotten rid of most of my MP3's and only store WAV files on my computer.
  19. I'm glad I'm still on ME :-) As long as I can read the Drudge Report, check my Gmail (using plain html version) and read message boards/forums, and laugh at one-star reviews on Amazon, It's all fine and dandy. My nephew plays Commander Keen and Secret Agent (another Apogee classic) on this computer, so it's not an entire waste of electricity.
  20. To play MP4 videos in Windows ME with only 384 MB RAM, I use QuickView Pro 2.60 for DOS, or else VLC 0.8.6.f http://www.multimediaware.com www.oldapps.com
  21. No. I haven't noticed that they are slower... just stupider. If they made them less stupid, they might appear faster. I mean, a JPEG is gonna load faster on a newer version of Windows, simply because the OS requires more processing power and RAM. The unfortunate thing is that the newer versions of Windows lack the grace, elegance, and simplicity (and therefore speed) of the Windows ME and Windows 2000 interfaces. XP was the beginning of the stupidness. Just my two cents. Naysayers can waste their time calling me a blankety blank. Will not listen because I don't care.
  22. How big are the individual volumes? 1.4 Megabytes? If the volumes are bigger than can fit on a floppy disk, then using Pkunzip and Pkzipfix (as indicated in your other thread) probably won't help very much.
  23. I found some floppy disks in my closet and made a multi-volume archive using Pkzip to see what the finished files would be called. I produced a zip file called "jumble.zip" on my A drive using the following command "pkzip -a -ex -& a:\jumble.zip test\*.*" I then looked at both the first and second disks, and both files on each disk were called "jumble.zip" When Pkzip creates a multi-volume archive, it differentiates between the files/volumes by giving each floppy a different volume Label. The first disk is labeled "PKBACK #001" and the second disk is labled "PKBACK #002" and so on. Therefore, in your case, without any floppy disks that have a proper volume label indicating the order, it would pretty much be impossible to tell which volume is which when using Pkunzip to decompress them.
