  1. Dont' like it.. I normally use outpost.. it's just I have a new wireless router thing so I don't need a software firewall really.. what I need is a basic small thing that just lets me allow or not individual programs without giving me millions of other features I don't need or really want.. thanx for the reply.. Never liked zone alarm.
  2. Hi.. [Opps.. just read previous post.. silly me] Anyone know a good program to restrict access to the net on a program to program level.. if you get what I mean.. rather like what you get in your average firewall.. where, when a program first tries to access the net you are given the option to let it or not.. just a nice basic small program that does that and nothing else.. I've been looking but can't find anything and I don't want a massive resource hogging firewall as I'm behind a router thing-a-me and don't need a softwear firewall... is there such a program? small! preferably free.. but hay.. wot ever. Thanx
  3. thanx for that quick reply.. I shall go look.
  4. hello.. How can I get a program that needs administrator privileges to run.. to auto start on a limited user account... I know how to get it to run by using the 'Run as' thing.. but how can I get it to auto start that from the registry or a short cut in the start up folder.. and save me the hassle of having to start it manually every time I log on?? is it possible? is there any point? If someone could help, it would make me happy. on Windows XP and the program is Peerguardian
  5. HI... http://imagehost.astromike.com/uploaded/the%20family01.jpg [Hope it works] I don't post here very often.. just when I have a problem which is usually answered promptly in a very helpful manner.. :-) This is my wedding day.... me with my beautiful wife and my two beautiful children Tyron and Tiana.
  6. Hi.... How does it work? Thing is... on my home network my mp3 collection is on my wifes PC, her PC is set up in bios to 'wakeup on LAN' Is it possible, and if so how do I go about doing it... waking up her PC from mine everytime I want to listen to some music... Both machines are running XP pro sp2 yadda yadda... Could some nice person point me in the right direction.. please! all I want to do is turn it on, as it's generally in hibernation... Thanx
  7. Hi.... Are both accounts on both PC's password protected? Are you both in the same workgroup? Just two of the many things that have caught me out before. Loui.
  8. HI.. Found a program called ForceDel http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/W-P/files/file...ticle.php/c1287 and it did the trick...

  10. Hi Super shredder didn't work and I’ve tried moving it and I've also logged in as administrator and none of them worked... What would be a good program that shows me what’s opened what, what’s using what.. and such. thanx I really can’t be bothered to reformat/install xp unless I really have to.. It’s just annoying that it’s sat there on my desktop and its 51,700kb ... and it won't go away..
  11. How could I fond out what applications using it? how would i delete it if it's on an ntfs partition [from dos]? thanx
  12. Hi \a I have a file stuck on my desktop.. It was downloaded in opera and got disconnected half way through.. and now it cant be deleted because it's 'being used by another person or program'. I've tried booting in safe mode... I've tried logging on as different users.. and I’ve deleted all the references I can find to it from the registry.. Could someone help? It's dungeonsiegeyesterhaven.exe [an expansion thing-a-me for dungeon siege] if that makes any difference. Thanx
  13. I found it in google in some news group, I dont remember where.. sorry! I think I searched for 'outlook plugin problem'
  14. Deleting C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook extend.dat sorted the problem.
  15. When you say 'small' do you mean small like a normal cd cover? if so have you changed the template under 'Cover Templates'
