  1. Excellent. Thx MCT.... 2 follow up questions.. 1. how can I copy shortcuts from sub-sections that are in the control panel? IE: Printers / Admin Tools / Scheduled Tasks, etc 2. How (it at all) can I copy shortcuts too the control panel or inside control panel sub-sections
  2. Yes! Keep them coming! Lets make this the ultimate 'USB-Friendly Apps' thread! Anyone else know of other programs that run system-independent?
  3. How can I copy shortcuts from my control panel to another location, such as mu desktop or start menu?
  4. I know its a long shot to get this, as this place primarily focuses on workstation and not server apps, but I need to figure out how to install IBM's Informix Dynamic Server 9.40 silently. I know they have a method to do this for Linux and Unix systems and Ive seen things hinting that they added 'silent installation support' in 9.4, but cant figure out how to do it. Big thanks to anyone who has a clue on this....
  5. Nice work guys.. cant wait to check it out.
  6. I looked all over for this game and came up with nothing.. doesnt look good. I know its new "functionality" added to SP2, but no idea how to circumvent it.
  7. you can set this in your winnt.sif or by a number of other methods, including regtweaks. search it up
  8. another little tidbit Ive found, it doesnt have to be that particular syntax either... lets say you wanted to leave the default profile intact, you could run firefox using -profile <whatever folder> and it will install and use that one.
  9. Thanks pra- That def helps, but I thought there was an actual seperate topic on this... maybe not.
  10. The syntax I was referring to is: "C:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe" -profile defaults\profile" This is supposed to load the defaults\profile folder... ::Update:: Found more info here. and by the way the method described in that link above with the 'portable' mozilla apps, works great.
  11. Youre not doing this correctly. Check the unattended guide on how to setup a user account and apply a password.
  12. Found the solution! Add the following reg key for SP2: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update] "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001 So for example, to automatically download and install Windows updates everyday at 3am, but not restart if a user is logged on [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update] "AUOptions"=dword:00000002 "ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:00000000 "ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:00000003 "NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers"=dword:00000001 For SP1 and earlier use the same key but add it to the following hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU You can find more info here!
  13. Cool... regsnap was the 1st reg monitor i downloaded and been using ever since. thanks for passing along a much smaller, FREE'er program!
  14. Holy crap.. use search... or even try looking at the 1st page topics under this section... theres a 3 page thread like 10 posts below this one.
  15. You have 2 options... 1. Use hulala's switchless 4.7 installer 2. Use my setup.iss / vbscript combo
  16. I thought the exact same thing until someone introduced me to the 'Print this Topic' link at the top of the thread... this will display the entire thread on 1 page, then you can simply use your browsers search function to find what youre looking for!
  17. Im nearly positive on this.. I made this assumption based on the info from Astas method of including your extensions and themes for an UA install of firefox found in Simonsays firefox thread. Basically it has you launch firefox using the default profile and install all of your extensions and themes, zip up your profile folder and unzip it on a newly installed firefox system.. this will make any normail profile use these extensions. Youll notice that when you use this option and you install an extension it will show up in "defaults\profile\extensions" folder, instead of the app data folder. I havent tried running firefox without the app data yet, but as soon as I get a chance to try this out on my usb key ill post up the results.
  18. So someone remind me why we are tricking windows into thinking it has run as opposed to simply slipstreaming into our cds?
  19. Ooo, this is an easy one. http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/
  20. Post up your winnt.sif... its as though you installed windows over an existing config without a reformat or something
  21. that goes for 2 of us... Thanks a ton as its EXACTLY what I was looking for as well!!!!!!
  22. Hrm... I guess youre right.. i saw it mentioned 'removal tool' and 'mydoom'... I thought this was the same thing. my bad! and thanks!
