A couple [Unattended] winnt.sif ?'s
durex replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Okay.. so just to be clear... 1. According to the help file repartition does format it using ntfs... so i if I did use this option, I dont need to use the filesystem option? 2. As long as I use the driversigningpolicy = ignore, I shouldnt have any driver issues whatsoever when running unattendedmode = fullunattended? Thanks again guys. -
thx for the reply simon... but not sure what you mean, i only saw 1 copy of the shellstyle.dll in the folder that was extracted by the exe i snagged from the link prathapml posted

Anyone know how to create a shortcut of the recycle bin unattended? The only way I know how to now is simply dragging and dropping (ie: into quick launch), and the properties of the shortcut it creates doesnt show squat. Thanks.

1. If "Repartition" is set to Yes, is there still a need to use "FileSystem = ConvertNTFS"? 2. I noticed in the ref.chm, that comes with SP2 Deployment Tools, it mentions that if "UnattendedMode = FullUnattended" that it wont install drivers unless theyre properly signed. Is this the case even if you set "DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore"? If not, what are ppl using to get around this? Thanks....

Old topic I know, but just came across it... mazin... whats the point of the additional folders in shell if the theme only has the one color? and way off topic... do u also go by octavianz?

Quickformat1="yes"? Wouldnt that mean to perform a Quick format and not a full?

So after my first stab at an unattended install, one of my numerous issues is that for some reason I cant access that PC from any other pc on my network and vice versa. Im trying to track down which service / setting I would have modified / removed that may have caused this and I noticed that In my winnt.sif I have "EnableICS=No". Im running WinXP SP2... is Internet Connection Sharing needed to be able to access other PCs on the network or allow other PCs to access this PC? Thanks!

@dr- I actually did search but I only searched in "unattended windows" as I misunderstood what the categories were about. Theres a post 2 above yours, where I realize the mistake I made and apologized. You would know that if you read my post first.

Installsheild setup.iss installing from CDROM
durex replied to durex's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
no wonder why i couldnt find it... it wasnt a post http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/applications/installshield.htm -
Crap... sorry for the double topic... and thanks!
-
Again... my searching skill suck cause I know i saw a thread that covered this a couple days ago. Since installshield creates a log when you use the silent install you cant normally install from cdrom, but i know someone found a way to get around it... could someone that has a clue point me to that thread? thanks! and sorry for the clutter!

k.. so if i do remove it, do i need to remove anything from any files that may be looking for the netfx.cab?
-
I noticed that my XPCD has a cmpnents\netfx\i386\netfx.cab... if Im going to be using RyanVMs' .NET1.1 with SP1 slipstreamed exe, should I remove this folder? Thanks!

Anyone know of a way to change the options of the task manager during unattanded? ie: "Hide when minimized", not have it "Always on top", etc... Thanks!
-
I just tried this and it doesnt seem to work. I even rebooted as well... reg entry is still there... anyone else know how to do this?
-
Ah... so no easy way then. Figures. Thanks for the relpies guys....
-
Excellent. Thanks.
-
Ive found how to remove reg entries via batch files (reg delete), and I know that you can remove registry hives in .reg files by placing a '-" in front of the hive name (ie: [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.avi\ShellEx]. If its even possible, what would the syntax be if you wanted to delete a key, such as a sting value, using a reg file? Thanks.

Made a similar post in another category the other day and didnt get any responses so I figured I prolly should tossed it hear... In other words... sry for the double post! How does one define an alternate installation path from the default when doing unattended installs of programs ? I find hard to believe nobody has inquired about this but I looked all over the place and couldnt even find this question asked, let alone answered... Thanks!
-
First off.. awesome site... Im a reformatting fanatic and didnt even know something like this existed until recently. Thanks for all the useful info. Now.. onto my question. Let me start off by saying Ive tried just about every search boolean I could think of and couldnt find a single topic on this, but find it extremely hard to believe no one has inquired about this before. Is there anyway to redirect the installation path of particular programs for unattended installation? An additional switch perhaps? I cant imagine there isnt a way to do this easily. (Sorry if I posted in wrong forum... maybe shouldve placed this in switches... ah well) Thanks in advance!
