  1. Gross.... And to think the X1950XTX I was holding yesterday was good...
  2. Just a note about what Michael says regarding DK2007: This did happen on my system, and had me worried at first, but things are back to their quiet self now, and only the occasional defrag takes place, but I've never noticed it get in my way.
  3. You what...? *shakes head* Computer - 1 computerMan - 0
  4. I said ASUS! No, but honestly, Asus mobos are amongst the best quality out there. They use quality components and will last you the life of the computer.
  5. Honestly - getting a 500W power supply for what you've spec'ed out is WAY overkill. A SeaSonic S12-380 will do you just fine. I'd say go with the E6400 and ASUS mobo. 1GB of DDR-667 (2x512) in dual channel. You'll easily be able to find 1GB of DDR2-667 for about $100. I did on Saturday. @puntoMX - I don't know where you can find a 7600GS for $70... the cheapest I've been able to find is about $120, which is out of his price range. A 7300GT is closer to what he can afford.
  6. I've put up a mirror site for the Nero 7 Lite packs. You can find them at www.zxian.org/nerolite. I've only got v7.5.7.0 up right now (and only some of them), but I'll be putting up the rest later. @hp38guser - I PM'ed you about this a while ago, but I haven't heard back from you. If you want me to remove the mirror, let me know.
  7. @gamehead - that'll give you where the original equation is flat (i.e. a maxima or minima). It unfortunately won't give you the zeros of the equation.
  8. @xper - Wanna check the logs on my IP here? I'm writing this post from IE7 at my gf's place. I've also noticed the "click-click-click" from IE7.
  9. Happy Birthday!!! :D
  10. Only through another computer. If you want to connect a drive to the network, then you'd need NAS. Some products for you to look at: Linksys NSLU2 Linksys EFG250
  11. That site's gonna get shut down pretty soon... Umm... no?
  12. @nitroshift - That's been my viewpoint for a while now. Security software should be there for the times when the user makes a mistake. I remember clicking on a picture link on MSN once, and then going "oh crap...". At the time, I had NOD32 installed, and the big red virus alert showed up. It's the only time that I've seen that window. Security should be primarily up to the user, and secondarily up to the security software.
  13. XP Home does support dual core. What it does not support is dual processor. All single (physical) CPU systems are supported by XP Home. I'd take the nVidia card over the ATI. The Catalyst drivers are just getting more and more annoying.

  15. Yea... I've had that problem before. It's annoying when programs don't properly clean up after themselves...
  16. Services - Do we want to go here again? No, but seriously, if you're not willing to do some non-standard troubleshooting if something doesn't work (due to services), then don't disable them. The performance gain that you get is really negligible. Defragging your drive won't help anything in terms of the image. The files will be stored in the image the same way regardless of their fragmentation on the original drive. And I like my visual styles. I have never been bothered by my computer being "slower" because of it.
  17. Mind giving a link to the KB article?
  18. Have you run Dial-A-Fix? That can help solve problems related to Windows Installer packages.
  19. I'm with him. I've got my AU set to automatically download the updates and let me know when they need to be installed. It's simple that way - you don't have to think about anything. There's an update available - I get notified.
  20. Topics Merged @xtremee - Please don't start a new topic if you've already got one. Your previous thread seemed to solve your problem. Reply there if you want more information.
  21. Why don't you use the Office Settings Wizard? I don't know of a way to restore the settings silently, but it'll definately save you a lot of hassle. It won't save e-mail passwords either, but that's a good security measure. What if someone runs off with your UACD that has your e-mail password stored on it?
  22. If you're looking for an imaging solution, Acronis True Image is one of the best products out there for that. If you want to go down this route, then I'd suggest creating a second partition for your personal files, and keep the system drive for system files and program settings.
  23. Are either of you able to view the other computers via their IP address instead of their NetBIOS name? It might help track down where the problem lies (if it's in the NetBIOS resolution, or the computer settings). Also - can either of you ping the other computer by their NetBIOS name? Do you get the proper IP?
  24. Granted - the door from the original P180 was flimsy and suffered from poor hinges, but that's been fixed with the P180B and it's new silver counter part. I guess the only remaining gripe some people have about the door is that it's not hard-latched shut (the magnet might be a little weak for some people's feel).
  25. @puntoMX - Did you look at the temperatures of their system with the 9500 at 5V? Link The CPU they're using has a TDP of 69W - which is on par, if not higher than the Conroes. Load temps of 40-44C with a Conroe? I'll take that anyday. The AC7 hits the thermal throttling barrier at lower speeds/volumes.
