Yeah SP1 take a long time to install...If I remember right mine took 1 to 1 1/2 hours to install. And the worst part was that I could not use my computer like you can with Windows Xps service packs

Got a download finally Did a total clean install installed drivers then SP1. Haven't had much time to play with it but just under 45 minutes to install! They better slow for the buying of the updated disk similar to what they did with the 64bit editions. They should make the disks free do to the fact they removed slipstreaming capability from it.

Now my question is How did you guys get SP1? I have looked around and can't seem to find a download anywhere. See I am hoping to reinstall Vista soon and want to have SP1 when I do it instead of later. Possibly Integrate it into my installation, but I rather not wait till mid-march to do it.

Awesome! is what came to my mind when I read the specs. It is defiantly a beast. I have read all the XP vs. Vista comments and a lot of them are very good reasons for their own opinion. The way I see it is that: -Your computer isn't going to be slow even with Vista -Eventually yeah you will probably need to go to Vista -Last, but not least it is your decision, no one is going to look down on you because you chose Xp over Vista or vice versa. My opinion I love Xp, and I love Vista! I bought Vista the first week it was out and found it to just as good as Xp if not better. Xp is a very very strong operating system, it will probably end up (in my opinion) like Windows 98. Either way you can't go wrong. Go with Xp if you want to then move to Vista when it is convenient for you. An operating system isn't forever it can always be changed. Have fun with it and make it the way you want it! Isn't that why you bought it?

I have had similar problems before with some of my games and it usually is easily fixed by running it as an administrator. Under the compatibility tab in properties I check the run as administrator option. That way it will always ask to run as an administrator. Hope this helps

Looks good! I would say go for the Asus P5B Deluxe. I did and I couldn't be happier, exept for the drivers for Windows Vista so far. As far as I know all of the drivers and utilities are still in beta but if you don't plan on going to Vista right away then the P5B Deluxe would be a good choice. Don't let the driver issue push you away, cause for betas I haven't had any problems with them yet except for the wireless drivers which I had some problems with. Oh, and it supports Intel's Quad Core processors for future upgrades. I have a P5B Deluxe (Wifi-AP Edition). But if you don't need the Wifi stuff then go with the P5B Deluxe Like it was said before the case is what you want. lol I'm using an old Dell XPS case that used to house a Pentium 2. Hopefully that will change within the next couple of months when I get a new one. I would suggest if you have a little extra cash to spend a bit more and buy the C2D E6400 that way you have a little extra power to run Vista. I have Windows Vista Home Premium, a P5B Deluxe (Wifi), 2 sticks of Corsair (512mb), and a C2D 6400, and Vista runs very well, wished I had gone with the C2D 6600 if I had had the money.

I thought I might tell you guys haw it all went. Well I got my stuff the other day. I had to do a few tweaking to my case. Never thought about new hardware and old case may not work. The problem was that the power botton cord and reset and all that is one plug well it didn't match the prongs on the motherboard, so when I went to turn it on nothing happened. So eventually I got it figured out. So I reinstalled Windows Xp Pro and it's running like a beast. But the boot time isn't as fast as I would have expected. The Windows Xp boot screen seems to take its time loading Windows. But as soon as that part is done it logs it withing a second or so. Also I haven't tried any higher, but I have so far overclocked it to 2.30Ghz. Thanks Everyone for your help this thing is awesome!

Thats kind of interesting Hoenig. What are your specs? Cause that doesn't seem quite right. Here Microsoft and the rest of the world is telling us that we are going to need a high end video card at least a 1.5 Ghz processor and 2 gigs of memory to run Vista smoothly and you can on an "out of date" computer.

Its classical. I could never see why clasical is so "liked." But thats my opinion.

Why would they want let us be able to easily change the ui? It would be just way to easy. But, I must disagree with you when you said it appears as if it had taken 5 min. Microsoft put lots of time and hard work into it. It is just to bad it takes up so much system resources. I would like to be able to create themes and stuff, but I don't have time to work with it enough, and I can't find a theme out there that I personally like. So I stick with Microsoft's themes. Basically thats what most people do. They are saticfied with the themes that Microsoft gives them.

I have always thought the more power your have the better. But i guess it depends on what a person is doing. I will definatly have to keep that in mind. I would have never thought that there was such a difference between power supplies.

Nakatomi makes a good point. Vista is made for 2 core while Xp wasn't. But as soon as microsoft seemed to be on the ball now Quad core chips are coming out, and if it takes another 5 years for microsoft to come out with a new windows version. Well, lets just say they will be lagging pretty far behind Apple, since they work pretty close to Intel.

Good thought Ripken. But I really didn't want a E6300. See I wanted to get a laptop with a Core 2 Duo and what not, but my parents really didn't want me to do that. So basically I upgraded my computer to what I wanted in a laptop. So ya. I think my dad's computer motherboard capacitor leaked. It still runs but it looks like something had leaked in the bottom of the case. Who knows. lol

The Gigabyte 965G DS3 Deluxe does I believe. Or Here Thoughs are all of Gigabytes Quad core boards.
