tain
Check your NTFS permissions (the Security tab). They are separate from the sharing permissions.Do you admin the network? If not, maybe ask the admin if some new policies have been applied.

tain
Ensure that none of those other entries have DENY checked. Deny overrides Allow. Here are some more things to try:Check the Event ViewerReset that user's passwordCheck the RSoPCheck local policiesEnsure that TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service is runningDo a "gpupdate /force" on both machinesTry rebooting
BigDaddy
U just gave me the idea! Since I have a passwordless login WinXP SP2 automaticly denies all access to drives. And thus I had to change GPEDIT.MSC LIMIT LOCAL ACCOUNT USE OF BLANK PASSWORDS TO CONSOLE ONLY to FALSEand now it works Edited October 30, 2006 by BigDaddy
tain
LOL! Yeah, a blank password will certainly cause sharing problems.

Jeremy
Hi, I have the same problem that BigDaddy had, yet his solution did not work for me.I'm within VMware at the moment and have the following Services Started/Auto:Computer BrowserNetwork ConnectionsNetwork Location AwarenessRemote Access Connection ManagerRemote Access Auto Connection ManagerRouting And Remote AccessSecurity Accounts ManagerServerTCP/IP NetBIOS HelperTerminal ServicesWindows FirewallWorkstationAll I have done is run the Network Setup Wizard on both PCs successfully and set a few folders for sharing. My fiancee's system can browse my shares, but I can't browse hers.Actually, I just added another share on my PC and she can still access the first one, but not the second one. This doesn't make sense. And this is also happening on my local system, not just VMware. We're both running Windows XP Pro SP2 totally updated. Zxian
Are either of you able to view the other computers via their IP address instead of their NetBIOS name? It might help track down where the problem lies (if it's in the NetBIOS resolution, or the computer settings). Also - can either of you ping the other computer by their NetBIOS name? Do you get the proper IP?
Jeremy
Zxian, thanks for your help via MSN.For all to know, my solution is as follows:Start > Run > control userpasswords2, Advanced Tab > Advanced > Users > Disable Guest Account.Reboot PC.Accessing Windows Shares should now prompt for a username and password, and if entered correctly, you get access to all the shares!
