  1. Well, in my case, I'm using Windows Media Center 2004 on a media center pc, and it never asked me for an activation. But when I install Windows Media Center 2004 on a non media center pc, it asks for an activation. So my thoery is, if Windows Media Center detects the special hardware that it requires, it will not ask for activation. But I'm not sure. It is just my theory, so I can be wrong.
  2. Hmm.. It only depends on the serial number? I don't think so.. Because I remember installing my Media Center 2004 with my XP Pro SP2 serial, and it didn't work. Anyway, I also saw an article from Microsoft about Windows Tablet PC Edition before, and it says serial numbers of XP Pro and Tablet PC Edition are not interchangeable. I will try my XP Pro serial on my Media Center 2005 later.
  3. Yes it will. I have an unattended Windows Media Center 2004, and I'm still building my unattended Windows Media Center 2005.
  4. Just copy the CMPNENTS folder inside the disc 2 to the root of your XPCD.
  5. Is it working now?
  6. Taskkill it.
  7. For this version, I think the shortcut fix won't be necessary anymore.
  8. If you format your hard disk and reinstall your system (clean install), that will solve your problelm for sure. But if your only problem is the boot screen, it is not worth formatting.
  9. Could you explain your problem more? I don't get it. Why do you have to use your XP SP2 with Media Center?
  10. This is not an answer to your problem actually, but why don't you try using Mozilla Thunderbird instead?
  11. Ok. Thanks for the info. I'm not gonna install it on my machine actually, since I'm using XP. I just want to learn a different approach. Thanks again.
  12. Hahaha.. Just borrowed it from somewhere.
  13. If I understood your problem correctly, you want to format your partition/hard disk, right? For some unknown reasons, I also experienced a similar problem. My bootable XPCD doesn't give me an option to format the partition. It only overwrites the existing Windows installation, which is not good for a clean install. If you have a floppy disk drive, use a Windows 98 startup disk and boot from it. Then you can format you partitions/hard disks from there. But I suggest formatting from the RAM drive instead from the floppy disk drive, because it is faster. Just in case you don't know how to format from DOS, just type format x: . Where x is the drive you want to format. If you don't have a floppy disk drive on your computer (like me), it can be more difficult becuase you have to create a boot cd first.
  14. IMO, use NAV if you are a home user. I read an article before comparing these two. SAV is designed for corporate use, and NAV is for home use. NAV scans the your zip files too, SAV doesn't.
  15. Yes. I know that. Thanks anyway. But I'm just curious to isntall this without using a bootdisk and without booting from the cd. Is there another way to install this?
  16. Here is the full installer of Macromedia Shockwave Player 10.1.0.11. http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shock...taller_Full.exe This is what I use to silent install it. REG ADD %KEY%\007 /VE /D "Macromedia Shockwave Player" /f REG ADD %KEY%\007 /V 1 /D "%SystemDrive%\Install\SHOCKWAVE\setup.exe /s" /f REG ADD %KEY%\007 /V 2 /D "TASKKILL /F /IM iexplore.exe" /f
  17. Yes you can. Check this out. http://www.unattended.msfn.org/xp/runonceex_cd.htm
  18. Even the pro version doesn't requires a serial.
  19. I'm left handed, and I use my left thumb to hit the spacebar.
  20. That's really weird man.. I had that problem once, and just reisntalled the OS again. But I don't this I did the best way to solve my problem.
  21. What is the easy way to install this OS without using a bootdisk? I can't use a bootdisk because my notebook has no floppy disk drive.
  22. If you are using a router, make sure that you forward the ports on your router too. And you must use your private IP. If you are using the invite file, edit the invite with notepad, and replace the dummy IP to your real IP. Check this out: http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-6263-5195001-1.html Thanks to Astalavista for this.
  23. Will this work with the latest corporate version? How do you disable the tray icons?
  24. Yeah. That is correct. Unless you are using Windows XP Home.
  25. Maybe you used a wrong combination. The options are 1-0 and a-f only. For example, color 9f is different from color f9 .
