  1. There is a way to encrypt the serial number in the winnt.sif but I can't remember the link for the info. It is on the Microsoft website actaully.
  2. Simon, how do you fix the file association if you use the /S switch? Because if you use /S, it will install everything by default (including the tray icon that I don't like), and all the media files will be associated with winamp. Are all the settings inside the winamp.ini file? Or registry is my only solution? Winamp is just an additional player for me. In fact, I only use it for online radio. So I still want my Windows Media Player to handle everyting. EDIT: Winamp 5.06 released 11/18/04. On their website, I can't find the version 5.07.
  3. @pop Why don't you start by reading the official MS guide for DOS commands first? You will find the uses of that commands there. Well, not all commands and tricks are listed there, but I'm sure that will help you a lot. Type %systemroot%\help\ntcmds.chm on your run command. @Mhz Thanks for the clarification! I didn't know that.
  4. I agree. The most common issue for me is when over writing an existing installation, or if I forget to delete the Mozilla folder in the %appdata%. The reason why I'm having this issue is either because of the path in the Chrome.rdf, or becuase of the Profile.ini. ("Customizable" Firefox msi is on the way.)
  5. Welcome pob! Let's learn together. My one and only bible for using DOS commands is this. %systemroot%\help\ntcmds.chm I still want to learn more. Thanks jdoe for the links. Do you have some more? un4given1, I still don't understand the difference between .bat and .cmd. Maybe I'm just stupid but at first I thought they were the same.
  6. Thanks for the help MCT and Incroyable HULK!
  7. Thanks. Just figured out a new solution. If I right click the Command Prompt shortcut on the start menu and change the settings there, it doesn't change anything on the registry. But, if I click the icon on the cmd window and change the settings there, the registry entries change too. Thanks for giving me a hint.
  8. Oh so it's in the console.. Thanks for the info! What should be that value of "FontSize" to make it bigger?
  9. Wow! Thanks a lot for the quick reply MCT!! I guess WinRAR will do take care of this job for me, again. Wait, do I have to set the "hidden" attribute to the desktop.ini and the *.ico? And will this work on a folder on the %systedrive%, or do I have to name it as a different file? Because it is desktop.ini, so I assume it only works for the desktop. [EDIT] Haha! I tried setting the "Show Hidden System Files" option, and the desktop.ini came out. I should have tried that before posting. Thanks again! By the way, I discovered that it is not necessary to have the icon file on the same folder. Because my desktop.ini for the Multimedia folder looks like this. [.ShellClassInfo] IconFile=%ProgramFiles%\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe IconIndex=0 But what is the purpose of the ConfirmFileOp=0?
  10. These are screenshots of my desktop. How can I set a custom folder icon with my unattended installation? Thanks!
  11. Yeah. I tried that but it the settings will take effect if I run cmd from the shortcut. But not if I run cmd from the run command. The settings when right-clicking the shortcut doesn't create a new registry entry in the HKCU\Softwares\Microsoft\Command Processor, and in the HKLM\Softwares\Microsoft\Command Processor. I tried adding a new DWORD entry "DefaultFont" but it didn't work. Maybe the settings for the default font is in a different location.
  12. I'm talking about default font and font size of cmd. If it is discussed there, maybe I'm just blind. But I can't really fint it. Can you just point me to the right link? Thanks!
  13. How can I set the defualt font and font size via registry? Thanks!
  14. [OFF TOPIC] @dvdbcn What kind of text editor are you using?
  15. I'm sorry prathapml. Thanks for the links. But that is just the virus defs. So how about the firewall, antispam, and other updates? Are those inside the %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs folder too?
  16. Ok, all I want for now is to include all the updates to my unattended installation. I just hate downloading updates everytime I install, since I'm on a dial up! But I see a lot of folders inside my %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs.. Which of those are important? I read the first page of this thread, and it was mentioned that the BinHub, incoming, TextHub, and the *.dat files inside the VirustDefs folder are important. But unfortunately, my BinHub folder (as of this time) is just 10.8mb, my incoming folder is emply, and my TextHub folder is just 32bytes. Is that all I have to include? Second, I don't want to create and sfx for this. What I wan't to do is copy the contents of my %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs to my $OEM$\$1\Install\NIS2005\VIRUSDEF.. Is that possible? Thanks.
  17. For clonecd, just try /s or /S. I think clonedvd is the same because they use the same installer.
  18. It will.
  19. "It's better to be late, than never." Happy Birthday SiMoNsAyS! Wish you all the best.
  20. I understand. I'm a beginner too. It's easy. Just install the app on your system, register, run regedit, and navigate to those entries. Right-click on the folder on the left side, then click export. I'm not sure if it is the same, because remember, this is for the version 6. But it's worth trying. Just look for something simmilar to this.
  21. I'm not sure for the version 7, but this is what works for me with the version 6. regedit /s adobe.reg start /wait AcroPro.msi /QR Inside the adobe.reg, you must have this lines. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\6.0\Registration] "SERIAL"="encrypted_serial_number_here" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\6.0\Registration] "SERIAL"="encrypted_serial_number_here" So install it on your system first, then export this reg entry to get your encrtypted serial. Note: You have to import the reg file first before installing, otherwise, it will not work. I hope this works for version 7 though..
  22. I don't know why but it doesn't work for me without the [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-299502267-179605362-725345543-1003\Software\EasyBoot Systems\UltraISO\5.0]. I'm not sure about the other versions, but at least this what works for me for this version. Obviously, Astalavista just trying to instult me.
  23. Haha! Thanks for the confirmation! (at sa bola) Guys, please try this method first before judging.. I tried this on 2 computers now, and Astalavista has tested this on his laptop and pc too. By the way, about the language, I don't think that is necessary, because it is installed in english by default. And if you don't include that, it will automatically generated just like the other registry entries.
  24. That is strange because they are totally different machines. Mine is a mce2005 notebook, and the other one is a new vaio desktop with xp home (pre-installed by sony). They are not on the same network, and they have different computer names and log-on names.
  25. Really? If so, then why did it work on my other machine? I tested this before I post it.
