Thanks for replying! I know BNavigator very well for years. Although I have installed it in my Windows XP partition long time ago and updated it on a regular base, I use it very rarely. Therefore, a confirmation that my release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 also works properly in BNavigator should come from an user of this browser such as you. Thanks for that!

Yep! I also tried IceDove months ago but MailNews is unbeatable in Windows XP and ideal for me, so to speak. It works with all my email services, can be wonderfully customised with extensions and supports OAuth 2.0. I can highly recommend it. And thanks again to @roytam1 for this port! -
Glad it is working for you when using Linux. I was able to solve different hardware problems under Linux in the past which couldn't be fixed under Windows.

You're welcome! And thanks for contributing here! There is only one build of uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 available on MediaFire at a time. The previous builds of this version have been removed by me. It was always the release with the same version number only corrected. No need to give them different sub-version numbers. I did not test my release in the BNavigator browser. In general, I only change compatibility strings in the install.rdf of an xpi file if I really know it is really compatible. Have you already fully tested my release in BNavigator? In any case, I tested my release in Pale Moon 32.5.2, and it worked there, too. The maxVersion is not that important as the minVersion is but I can update it next time. I will take these changes into account in my upcoming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31. Thanks for the hint!

Thanks for your kind words! And you're right it is as always a game of action and reaction between two parties with opposing interests. I personally try to maintain and keep up-to-date uBlock Origin Legacy within the scope of my abilities. Unfortunately, both, gorhill and JustOff stopped further development a long time ago. Thus, we can only hope that the compatibility of the important filter lists for uBOL will be maintained.

When talking about VPN for Windows XP, we have to realise that most VPN service providers have given up on protocols like PPTP or L2TP/IPsec which are suitable and compatible with this OS. Even the paid ones. OpenVPN is very often the only option in these days, if offered by the provider at all, but only due to the existence of the special version OpenVPN 2.5.4 for Windows XP. But then you have to struggle with the crappy TAP-Win32 Adapter. The older, official OpenVPN versions aren't supported any longer by many VPN service providers. All that means we have to take advertising of VPN services working under Windows XP with a grain of salt. IMHO, a lot is promised, but often not kept.

I am afraid but as far as I can see, the UltraVPN desktop application is no longer compatible with Windows XP: https://support.ultravpn.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050273852-What-are-UltraVPN-s-compatible-platforms- And UltraVPN 1.0 is from 2006 and unfortunately much too old. I don't think it will do its job in these days.

I had already looked at these resources before @UCyborg mentioned them. But in any case, a very interesting contribution. The file scriptlets.js is only present in the more recent webextensions and can't be transplanted without code changes if at all. The legacy extensions provides functions via the file resources.txt which was missing in my previous releases and had to be restored in my latest one. From now on, I won't merge legacy extension and webextension any longer in terms of uBlock Origin. The webextensions of uBlock Origin are moving further and further away from the code base of the legacy extensions. Too much incompatibilities. Starting with my coming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31, I will only use the uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2 version as a guide. As the auto-update function for the internal list of all preselected filter lists has already been removed by me for compatibility reasons, I will maintain this list myself, only if necessary, of course. I will only add compatible and important lists or remove abandoned ones.

This is the version I am using and the last XP-compatible one as far as I know. Many manufactures haven given up on Windows XP like, for example, MediaHuman. But any deeper discussion about that kind of stuff should be done here only in connection with extensions. Otherwise, we would go off-topic. And I'm not in the mood for that.

We will see what YouTube will come up with next. Personally, I hate all these constant changes and perfidious mechanisms that are supposed to block ad blockers. In any case, thank you for your persistent reporting and testing! And one more request: keep testing to make sure everything runs smoothly! It's a good thing to do when you're surfing anyway. I personally think this version should now do its job.

No, your computer is not equipped with a CPU that has the SSE instructon set as a maximum. Your CPU provides the SSE2 instruction set and higher. You won't benefit from the coming release, rather the opposite as far as I understood correctly. @feodor2's English is very often not that easy to understand.

Please re-download my new, once again corrected release of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 from this post especially if you already downloaded the old one! Now, filtering and blocking of embedded ads in YouTube videos is also working again, tested in New Moon, Serpent and Pale Moon. -
Due to the problems in terms of filtering and blocking ads in YouTube videos, I had to correct my release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 once again. I added some (necessary) code and two filter lists which were not present in uBlock Origin 1.54.0 but in uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2. The two lists are uBlock filters - Legacy and uBlock filters – Resource abuse. Here is a screenshot taken from the setting page: Additionally, I updated all filter lists once again. The new download link and all information can be found in this post: Please re-download this corrected release from the linked post above especially if you already downloaded the old one! @nicolaasjan and all interested people! I have carried out further tests. After several runs in Pale Moon 32.5.2, the Led Zeppelin YouTube video in the profile with uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 suddenly showed ads. Very strange. But not in the profile with my new, upcoming release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31. Not once did advertising appear in the videos there. Thus, @nicolaasjan's observations were correct. This gave me a lot to think about and prompted me to investigate further, which I have just completed with positive results. At least, I do hope so. The YouTube website is the greatest crap ever. There are many discussion about embedded ads in YT videos and many complaints in the internet. All of them are looking for solutions, but they haven't really existed since the end of last year, You are supposed to pay for ad-free videos. YouTube recognizes uBlock Origin and prevents ads from being blocked. Anyway! At the moment, my new, coming release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31 works great and is able to block these embedded ads as the old version 1.16.4.31b2 already did. I modified the release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 once again to do the same as the new and the old one. Now, I am in testing mode again. Until now, it is working fine. Thanks for the tip! TBH, I know almost all the alternative options. I personally use the VLC Youtube Shortcut extension in conjunction with the most recent VLC Player and the youtube.lua file. I have various YouTube Downloaders at my disposal. And I am a great fan of your youtube-dl and yt-dlp releases.

I also tested there my coming release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31. No ads in either of the two YouTube videos. And this release also works flawlessly and without any issues in New Moon 28, Serpent 52 and Pale Moon 32.5.2. Under both versions 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 and 1.16.4.31, I don't see any ads in the Ad Blocker Test Video. It stays empty and black. Here is a screenshot with 76 ads blocked:

I know Youtube Downloader HD very well and use it for many years, too. YouTube in web browsers on old hardware is no longer a good idea. This site has gotten worse and worse from year to year. If I nevertheless want to watch a YT video directly in New Moon 28, I use the extension uTube or the service Invidious.

@nicolaasjan I did further tests. This time, I tested uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 in the most recent version 32.5.2 of Pale Moon under Windows 7 on a notebook. I cleaned the profile completely. I deleted all cookies, website settings, cache and so on. I removed all remnants of previous uBlock Origin Legacy installations. I can't see any ads in either of the two YouTube videos. Please, check if you use a completely clean profile and install my mod again! In any case, delete all cookies and settings related to YouTube! Especially the file ublock0.sqlite in the subfolder extension-data.

Have you enabled the region and language-specific filter list NLD: Easylist Dutch? I always enable the filter list DEU: Easylist Germany. Yep! Good idea! Maybe, there are users of @roytam1's browser editions willing to test the two YouTube videos in terms of embedded ads under my new release uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 in New Moon or Serpent. I personally will ask here.
