    HI,

Has anyone collected the 55 Language Interface Packs from the Microsoft website?
Microsoft took them offline and archive.org also doesn't have them. 😥

Just a small add to my last post on ZoneAlarm 4.5.594.000. I was sure it was the very last ZA version that was only a firewall but I had to search around to be sure since it was over 15 years that I had been using it ... starting with Windows 98SE.

It was the last version to only be a firewall. ZoneAlarm 4.5.594.000 was the last version of the ZA - 4.0 Branch. The very next version released was the new ZA - 5.0 Branch which now had Antivirus Monitoring.

    5.0 Branch / ZoneAlarm 5.0.590.015 (May 24. 2004)

+ Antivirus Monitoring - Helps manage other security solutions by alerting you when your antivirus protection (even from another    vendor) has been disabled or is out of date

+ Alert Viewer - New Alert viewer functionality organizes log details by feature category

+ Various other enhancements for increased reliability of operation

Release History / ZoneAlarm Free Firewall

    https://www.zonealarm.com/software/free-firewall/release-history

That last 'ZA firewall only' version was well liked as I remember ... it was simple to use, not bloated and worked.

    ...

I had used ZoneAlarm Firewall for a long time in the past, long time ago. All versions of ZA v4 and v5 too. It was a good firewall at that time. But it was never a very stable and reliable one. Some versions were more stable, others less. Nowadays I wouldn't use any of these versions. The reason is there are much more better firewall solutions available, more stable and more recent without the problems I had to observe in the case of ZA. Some connections were not really blocked contrary to my settings. A lot of hanging at startup and so on. In those days I replaced ZA by Sygate Personal Firewall Professional which was much better than ZA. But for me, all these solutions are obsolete. The best firewall I have ever used is definitely Windows 10 Firewall Control XP Plus 7.5. No problems, no hanging and no unwanted connections anymore. So, spoken for me only, I have to say: Bye, Bye, ZA and all old not always properly working firewall solutions!  bye.gif
    And rest in peacecursor.gif

    Cheers, AstroSkipper ordi1fun.gif

PS: Regarding to security solutions generally, the property "more recent" is very important due to changes in establishing secure connections, structure of internet and existing threats!

Is there any way to download the Serpent 52 browser on clean installed Windows XP SP3 without MITM proxy?

On a clean install try only http-links! Here is the link for Serpent 52:
    http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk52-g4.8.win32-git-20220528-3219d2d-uxp-0855ba43d-xpmod.7z

    Cheers, AstroSkipper ordi1fun.gif

A clean installation of Windows XP is very different depending on the source you used to install from. Truth be told I don't really understand your problem. If the download of a browser installation file doesn't work in your system, you should download it by using another system, your smartphone or your tablet. And then you simply transfer it to your target system. By the way each browser of roytam1's editions will do a good, first job to download further necessary files. I don't need to do that because my download archive contains all important files to install whatever I desire. And furthermore a clean, native installation of Windows XP will lack of the ability to establish system connections using modern protocols and ciphers. In such a case one of the proxies ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy will be necessary to establish such connections system-widely.

  4. Solution for the error code 0x80072f8f while accessing the WU/MU website using ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy

You have to install ProxHTTPSProxy's or HTTPSProxy's CA certificate to Trusted Root Certification Authority under the account local computer. A detailed instruction can be found in my original post:

and in my article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use" under section Configuration  Configuration of these proxies to access the MU website successfully nowadays:

IMHO a build with updated libs (openssl, urllib, etc.) would be best.

The launcher is an useful addition, but is not the main feature of a proxy :P

P.S. it's fine on my end as it is, don't let my words affect your decision.

Thanks for your reply and your wish! If you knew a person with Python programming skills, it would be great. Three TLS 1.3 ciphers have to be added to existing package of REV3e. Its openssl version 1.1.1d already supports TLS 1.3. In case of ProxHTTPSProxyMII 1.3a (20150527) much more needs to be done to implement TLS 1.3 support. I can only do what I am able to, regarding my skills. Unfortunately I am not a Python programmer. Sorry! jexplique.gif

  6. Registry Editors

Registrar Registry Manager 9.20 is a registry editor which is still supported in Windows XP. Hompage: https://www.resplendence.com/registrar
There is a Free Home Edition
    https://www.resplendence.com/download/RegistrarHomeV9.exe
    and a commercial Professional Edition.

My favourite registry editor is Registry Workshop (current version is 5.0.1). Link: http://www.torchsoft.com/en/rw_information.html
It is still supported in Windows XP, but it's commercial. This program is definitely worth its money. You can try it 30 days for free. Here is a download link of the English version 5.0.1 (other language versions are available):
    http://www.torchsoft.com/download/RegistryWorkshop.exe

  7. Sphinx Windows 10 Firewall Control XP 7.5 is the last working version in Windows XP. There are two interesting versions:
The free version Windows 10 Firewall Control XP Free 7.5
    https://www.sphinx-soft.com/download/W10FC7.5/Windows10FirewallControlFree-XP-Setup.exe
and the paid Plus version Windows 10 Firewall Control XP Plus 7.5:
    https://www.sphinx-soft.com/download/W10FC7.5/Windows10FirewallControlPlus-XP-Setup.exe
The paid Plus version is definitely worth its money. I use it for years and for me it is the best firewall solution in Windows XP. Here is a link from December of 2015 where you can compare the Free and the Plus version:
    https://web.archive.org/web/20151229143305/https://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/order.html
A key for Windows 10 Firewall Control XP Plus has to be requested by contacting the support because it is no longer offered officially. I mention this due to the circumstance that a regular key doesn't work with the XP version.

I can confirm that following browsers are working with the new interface of virustotal.com if variable dom.moduleScripts.enabled is set to false in about:config: Mypal 68, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52.
Firefox 52.9.0esr is natively working with the new interface of virustotal.com, presumably because of lacking this variable dom.moduleScripts.enabled.
Unfortunately the Chrome browsers 360Chrome v11 and 360Chrome v13 are not working with the new interface of virustotal.com. I tried to change some script related flags, but without any success.

Thanks for sharing! Works fine in New Moon 28.10.3a1.

You're welcome! The goal of all this is to restore and preserve important functionality in Windows XP for daily and future use. And access to VirusTotal is definitely important. top.gif

I see ... I'm also beginning to thing I represent 50% of the V11 users as it would appear, now, its just myself and you on V11.

I don't know, too bad more people didn't take to this project as it was (still is) a great learning tool and opportunity to benefit from chromium even on older systems.

    Yeah, you're right! Probability of using 360Chrome v11: for @XPerceniol 50% and for @AstroSkipper 50% too. That's a classical Laplace distribution! grafiti.gif total-lol.gif

  10. Hi to all people who are using a computer with a SSE only CPU or whose OS is Windows XP Professional 64Bit!
In these cases you have to use the original release of  ProxHTTPSProxyMII 1.3a (20150527), when you need to establish such a connection. Now I would like to know whether there is an interest in an updated and modified package of this version. One of my computers has an AthonXP 3200+ CPU with SSE instruction set only and therefore I have modified the mentioned package by including a launcher as it is in HTTPSProxy's package. The result is a proxy which can be served in the same way as it is in case of HTTPSProxy. All functions are available via systray icon and can be accessed comfortably.
Let me know by commenting and reacting whether there is such an interest!  mail.gif

Seriously, even when we use a proxy (web proxy or the ones people are using here as of late) doesn't the proxy server see our IP address? I see it as, they would be so bored to go through my computers just loads of depressing crap over the last 11 years from forums. I'm pretty sure cloudflare and my own dns already know I'm cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs :)

Might just avoid the secure dns and just go with my won for a little as If I'm being honest, its a bit faster than 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1

To surf anonymously hero.gif , to get an IP from another country  or to gain access to sites which are restricted in my country I use paid VPN services with no log policy. I try to trust them. And so far I am very happy with that.

    Hi everyone!

Hope all is well on this lovely Friday :)

Is the pdf also broken in 360 Chrome for you guys? Blank page on Serpent and 360 Chrome but I can view pdf images on web pages on 360 v11, but not saved pdf files. Just a tad confused here. Hopefully Roys new release will correct this - I'd rather use a web browser to open pdf's rather than even go back to adobe.

Hi @XPerceniol, I use PDF-XChange Viewer for years and it's working fine in Windows XP. Comparing to Adobe it is lightweight and you have editing function. It can be integrated into browsers by its provided plugin. Have a look here:

Ok, I found the cause of this problem. The extension Download Manager (S3) 5.1.4 prevents showing the hash in 360Chrome v11. This extension has either to be uninstalled or disabled if accessing virustotal.com. Same in Mypal 68.

  15. Hi @NotHereToPlayGames, VirusTotal has changed its interface. A lot of old browsers didn't work anymore with VT's new interface. I could fix it in @roytam1's browsers and in @feodor2 Mypal 68 by setting variable dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false in about:config. Have a look in this post:

The browsers Mypal 68, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 are working properly with VT's new interface in Windows XP. Ok. I added this problem to the issues of Mypal 68. Issue #78: https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/78. @feodor2 gave me a tip to solve the problem by setting dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false. Setting dom.moduleScripts.enabled to false leads to loading of the new interface, a file can be uploaded and the results (Checking hash) are shown. :cheerleader: The further good news are in New Moon 28 this setting works perfectly too. :cheerleader: The VirusTotal Uploader 2.2 is working again either. :cheerleader: And presumably the reason why it works in the old Firefox 52.9.0esr is that there is no entry dom.moduleScripts.enabled.  In any case be aware that this setting could break other sites! Anyway, I'll stay with it and report if other sites are negatively affected.

Thank you for the information but Windows 10 Firewall Control XP 7.5 portable version is not able to run on xp is there something i am missing.

The portable version is not compatible with Windows XP. Only the versions ending in their name on XP are written for Windows XP. This is the free version for Windows XPhttps://www.sphinx-soft.com/download/W10FC7.5/Windows10FirewallControlFree-XP-Setup.exe
And this is the Plus (paid) version for Windows XPhttps://www.sphinx-soft.com/download/W10FC7.5/Windows10FirewallControlPlus-XP-Setup.exe
The Plus version is the one I use for years. It's definitely worth the money. I wouldn't use a portable version in case of a firewall. There are components which have to be installed in Windows sytem folder, otherwise the services couldn't start at Windows startup. The goal of a firewall must be in managing and controlling all connections, especially at system startup. A firewall should be deeply integrated into the system. Therefore a portable version isn't a good idea.
