  1. Which version of Firefox is it? Could you upload a screen shot showing the problem?
  2. I'm sorry for being a little bit inactive recently but I've been very busy I'm still trying to spend as much time as possible on Windows related projects. You can expect a new version of my website this weekend. There are a lot of improvements but probably the most important one is related to the HFSLIP Updates List available here (still the old version at the moment). The list is now going to be much more accessible and customisable, and also viewable on different screen resolutions (even small phone screens). This updates list is actually the most important thing for me. In fact, I wouldn't be able to do anything without it. The reason is that in order to create any unofficial updates package you need to know which official updates and hotfixes are still valid, what files they update, etc. This information provided by the updates list is critical for creating packages like the USP5 or UURollup. Anyway, here you can see a screen shot of the upcoming update: Desktop 1024x768: old new 4" phone 800x480: old new The desktop version may look similar at first sight but the whole site has been rewritten from scratch. It's slimmer, faster and easier to read due to improved colour scheme and larger fonts. The biggest difference can be seen when it comes to smaller resolutions where the old one was completely inaccessible.
  3. It may depend what you will be doing on those VMs but in normal circumstances it shouldn't be a problem to store them on the same SSD together with the system partition. In case of mechanical HDDs it does have a significant impact on performance, no matter how fast the HDD is (I've tested it myself on 15000rpm SAS drives).
  4. @CaelThunderwing I think you're confusing some things (which is no surprise since there are several different unofficial packages for Windows 2000, not necessarily connected with each other ) Anyway, first of all, you don't need to install any wrapper if you've already installed an unofficial kernel. You may need to use some files / functions from it to run specific applications but don't try to replace system files directly as it will only lead to a crash. Secondly, there are two unofficial kernels available for Windows 2000 which have been developed independently from each other. The first one is the blackwingcat's one (already mentioned above) and the other one is the WildBill's kernel. They are not compatible with each other. Thirdly, UURollup is a package of unofficial updates and other files, including the unofficial kernel. The problem is that up to UURollup-v10d the WildBill kernel was used, and you've just installed UURollup-v10d and BlackWingCat kernel which just cannot work together. BlackWingCat kernel is included in UURollup starting from v11. Lastly, Update Rollup 2 (and Unofficial SP5) are packages which consist only of official M$ files so they shouldn't cause any problems regardless of which kernel you use.
  5. I think I've finally managed to fix the problems with my website. At the moment it's accessible through both http://www.windows2000.tk and http://windows2000.tk (without www) Please let me know if there are still any issues.
  6. @Yffffonz You were right. There seem to be some DNS related problems. Until I manage to fix them you can access the website using http://windows2000.gweb.io.
  7. Yep It's up and running... Have you experienced any problems with it? Just in case, always remember to add www at the beginning.
  8. I've just uploaded a new daily release of UURollup-v11. All new files from BWC kernel are included in it (support for 32GB of RAM, etc.). Several additional Chinese and Korean font files are also installed by this release. They aren't going to be installed by default in the final USP5.2 package but at the moment I've got no time to work on them so I've just decided to install all of them together with the other fonts.
  9. Have you thought about going for AMD instead of Intel? They support XP pretty well.
  10. @sonyu Sorry for a late reply. The website hasn't been updated for a while. You'll probably need to install the newest daily release of UURollup in order to run SRWare Iron. It still won't work correctly though due to the Javascript bug so you'd better just use Firefox if you need an updated and widely supported browser.
  11. Using pixels is bad because pixel density varies and even a very small screen can use high resolution. Other than that, it's impossible to resize pixel sized fonts in older versions of IE (zoom doesn't affect them). 100% or 1em should mean 16 px for all Windows desktop browsers unless you've set something different in their configuration. System DPI settings can also have effect on browsers' font sizes (new versions of Firefox, old Opera).
  12. Do you mean weekly 20121118? If yes then it's pretty old. I'd suggest updating to at least the latest weekly 20130323.
  13. You can either install the BWC kernel separately or use UURollup in which the BWC kernel is included. No matter which method you'll choose, you've already installed the system so I'd suggest installing everything from Windows Update first and then proceed with the unofficial packages.
  14. No-one will be able to help without actually seeing the HTML and CSS of the site Is this the same one you sent me link some time ago? For me the text size is 16 px (which is 1em in CSS).
  15. @jbclem Just a quick post. You can install all .NET Frameworks from 1.0 to 4.0 using my experimental merged installed. You can download it from the Archive (Windows2000/UnofficialSP5/.NETFramework). It hasn't been updated for a while but it doesn't really matter. I'd recommend you use .NET Framework Cleanup Tool to remove all the other versions of .NET before applying my installer.
  16. I'd say that it depends. If it's your main system and you absolutely need to keep it running no matter what then I would just install the new version without uninstalling the previous one, especially if it's been a while since the latter was installed. Still, I'd recommend to make a full system partition backup before applying the daily releases since they're experimental by definition. They aren't tested thoroughly so I can't guarantee anything. The situation is different in case of the stable and weekly channels where I do test both slipstreaming and installation over the previous version.
  17. You said that UURollup-v11-d20130616 was not stable. That's why I asked about it above Did you perhaps mean the opposite? Yep blackwingcat released a new version of his kernel some time ago and I'm going to add those files to UURollup-v11 daily. You can expect it in the next few days.
  18. Here's the official link to the English version but it's dead: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ie55sp2/install/5.5_sp2/win98me/en-us/ie5setup.exe You can still download the file from Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/web/20011021014147/http://mssjus.www.conxion.com/download/ie55sp2/install/5.5_sp2/win98me/en-us/ie5setup.exe Then in order to download the full package type from command line: ie5setup.exe /c:"ie5wzd.exe /d:1 /s:""#E"but it probably won't work (as it doesn't work with IE6 any more).
  19. What exactly are the instabilities? So far there's been only one problem reported here.
  20. You shouldn't apply both UURollup-v10 and v11. If you're going to use v11 then v10 is not required In my test machine the About box is displayed normally. I can confirm that the new Firefox icon has black background in taskbar. Now the question is - does it really matter? I think that it's the price to pay for using Windows 2000 today. Of course you can manually modify the files, etc. but I myself am not going to spend any time on this. As long as the application works then such small graphical glitches are insignificant. Just my opinion
  21. UURollup-v11 requires both USP5.1 and Update Rollup 2 (in other words - SP4 and all official updates). IE6 is also included in USP5.1 but UURollup-v11 should work without it. I'd still recommend to always have IE6 installed.
  22. Hmm, only now I've had a chance to actually check the icon on a Windows 2000 computer and also in a VM, and there's no black background in both cases. The background is black only if UURollup is not installed. The icon looks like this: The About box is also displayed properly. What's exactly the configuration you're using? What other packages have you got installed there?
  23. That's why I wrote about fixing it easily At the moment I myself would just use the broken icon...
  24. Hey ppgrainbow, Check the Hotstream forum for all updates related to my unofficial packages (specifically the Unofficial SP 5.2 for Microsoft Windows 2000 topic). UURollup-v11 is being updated but only through the daily channel so I can't guarantee stability. You need to check it yourself. At the moment I'm fully focused on updating my website and preparing USP5.2 so there won't be any new stable versions released of the other packages. UURollup-v11 daily is going to updated until USP5.2 is ready. Firefox has changed the logo (the new one looks horrible ) and I don't think you can easily do anything to fix it. The same thing happens with Skype whose icon also has such a black background.
