  1. @blackwingcat I want to translate v7 into Polish but I have one question. As you can see there is a difference between these language versions. In the Polish one there is only one message table '1045' but in the Japanese one you have two - JPN 1041 and English 1033. Should I delete one of them and translate the other one into Polish or should I translate both of them?
  2. It was FF 4.0 but it's exactly the same in case of Opera 11 - it can eat up to 2.5 GB memory before crashing.
  3. 1. I'm very sorry for posting in the wrong forum. 2. The problem is like this: I have two clean copies of Win2K Pro and Win2K Datacenter Server. I also have a pack of SATA drivers for Win2K. If I add them to the Pro version, there are no issues. If I do the same for the Datacenter Srv I get this error. I get this error even if I try to integrate just ONE driver which means there must be a problem in the very process of integration. Or maybe it's the Datacenter Server which doesn't support SATA driver integration? Of course there are no installation problems of either Pro or Server when SATA drivers are not integrated. 3. nLite shows a message about unknown ID but still allows me to modify the Datacenter Server version. Apart from the SATA driver integration error there are no other issues with nLite and this version of Win2K.
  4. I asked the first question because I've had the same issue on my laptop when shutting it down by pressing the power button. On the other hand, everything is O.K. when I choose shut down from the start menu. Anyway, there was a program for Win 9x which could save and restore desktop icons. Unfortunately I don't remember its name I'll look for it. I'll give you a link if I find it.
  5. When trying to integrate SATA drivers (doesn't matter which ones) using nLite setup hangs on this error: The same integration process works without problems on Win2K Pro.
  6. 1. How do you turn off your computer? 2. In case of Quick Launch go to X:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch and rename files by putting a number in front of each shortcut, i.e. 01. xxx, 02. xxx, 03. xxx, etc.
  7. Actually I did a test using Win2K Advanced Server and: 1. no PAE, no 3GB 2. PAE, 3GB 3. 3GB, no PAE 4. PAE, no 3GB 5. Utilising 4GB RAM fully Full test (in Polish) I happen to open a lot of pages containing many large images and my browser usually crashes when reaching the 1,5 GB value. With 3GB... well I can open more websites at once as browser doesn't crash until 2,5 GB
  8. Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5.9.620 works on my system. http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/default/english/win95nt/latest/Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe You may try patching your kernel32.dll using BlackWingCat's hotfix (Windows2000-KB935839-v5-x86-ENU.EXE) http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1299806.html
  9. O.K. I understand. How about Win2K Advanced Server with 4 GB RAM? Without PAE it sees only 3,4 GB but with PAE enabled I can use all of the available 4 GB. It it better to use PAE in this case?
  10. MS11-002 cannot be slipstreamed (by HFSLIP). There are no errors during the integration process but when trying to install the system there is an error about being unable to copy odbc32.dll file. I unpacked the hotfix file, used modifype -c on odbc32.dll, made the hotfix installation file once again and then slipstreamed it. No problem with system installation afterwards.
  11. WildBill, I've just finished translating all your hotfixes into Polish. Good work and waiting for more. I also finally managed to fix the font display problem related to MS10-069. It was caused by ResHack which I used for translating. I remade it using PE Explorer and everything seems to be fine. ResHack doesn't support Unicode and although I had everything set to Polish in Windows, it still messed the Polish fonts up.
  12. Does anyone know where it is located (in which of the system files)? I'm interested in it because the progress bar is placed in the middle here instead of being located slightly on the right, ie. like on the normal Win2k boot screen.
  13. I wonder whether there are any benefits from using /PAE and /3GB switches with 4GB RAM in Windows 2000 Professional. Without PAE system sees 3.75 GB.
  14. THANKS A LOT!!! Dialogues were corrupted. (EDIT) This problem seems to be related to the fact that I use different language in regional options for displaying non-unicode text. If I set it to Polish (in Polish Win2k) the dialogues show correctly. If I set it to Korean they appear as corrupted (ex. when opened in PE Explorer). Still the other system dialogues doesn't show any errors so why only these ones are problematic?
  15. The problem with the fonts changing into Chinese is that in only happened in this dialog (http://www.townofstratford.com/images/e-mail/Outlook%20no-exit%204.jpg). The 'End task' and 'Cancel' buttons changed into Chinese. I would check these dialogues but I need to know exactly in which of the system files they are present. Does anyone know which system file is responsible for it?
  16. Thank you for your reply Originally I was translating these hotfixes into Polish but it just took too much time to do it, and also something went wrong with one of the patches (I'm not sure which one but suspect it to be one of the font patches) which caused some of the system dialogs to change into Chinese I tried to translate them one more time but the same thing happened. I still don't know which one caused this. Anyway, as it is just too much pain to translate all those hotfixes I have decided to install an English version of Win2k Server with integrated English hotifxes and use a MUI Pack to have it in Polish. Thank you WildBill for your hard work and I'm looking forward for new patches
  17. WildBill, is it O.K. to apply your patches to a datacenter server version of Windows 2000?
  18. OK, I understand After I've finished modifying and translating your updates I'm going to try to slipstream them using HFSLIP. I'll post here and write whether it works or not.
  19. WildBill, You said that it's necessary to change from 4 to 5 but in MS10-054 you didn't change it. Was it left unchanged for purpose? Or maybe it doesn't matter at all? Also sometimes you delete and sometimes you leave it... does it make any change?
  20. Hello WildBill, By using your guide I managed to make hotfixes for the Polish version of Windows 2000. Thank you very much! I'll keep my list at a Polish forum here: http://forum.windowsmx.pl/nowe-poprawki-t11936.html WARNING Actually it's much more complicated to do it than how it's explained on the 3rd page of this thread. If you leave the original files from the XP installation of the hotfix (ex. shell32.dll) it works but you'll get an error after restarting the system as there are strings in this file referring to some XP related files (msgina.dll etc.). On the other hand, when using the modified version from the English version provided by WildBill you get no errors but parts of your system will change into English after the installation. So what's the solution? I think you have to edit the files already modified by WildBill and change strings inside them from English into your language. Basically you need to copy them from the original system files. It takes time but should work without any problem.
