if its not doing anything and it isn the main drive it might just be shutting down and all your hearing is the heads parking (is that what u call them lol) check your power settings in windows control panel and see if you have it set to turn off harddisks after a certain amount of time. thats what it could be or your hardrive might just be dieing

its still all random though some people have signed up and gotten an invite within days where as some people have had to wait months. i signed up a few more times today anyway to increase my chances and even if i dont get in its only about 5 weeks till i can pop down to the shops and buy it. btw how long did it take before you got an invite? just out of curiosity

i know some people have done it in the past ,i cant remember what type of spray paint they used though but i would go for an expensive make that promises a nice reflective looking finish buy a tin and test it on something with the same type of surface your pc has and see if u think it looks good

it does not matter on the game only how much memory bandwidth a card has. i did not say there wasnt any agp8x cards i said it makes no difference to the cards performance wether its using 4x mode or 8x as either the card doesnt have enough bandwidth for agp x4 to be a bottleneck or the AGP interface is a bottleneck. an old game like quake3 with 6xFSAA / 16x AF @ 1600x1200 probably uses as much memory bandwidth as unreal2 @ 1600x1200 does.

thats like saying games need to suport a 266mhz fsb for it to make a difference. all agp 8x does is provide a wider road that can handle more traffic. its a pointless feature to upgrade a motherboard for at this time as no cards can really take advantage of the possible memory bandwidth it alows
